RETURNED FROM KANSAS
W. D. Thompson and the daughters, Misses Bessie and returned on Friday from Kansas, where they went three ago with the body of Mr. The father, who died at Bannett whose remains were interred family burial plat at Norton those of four deceased children.
Mr. Thompson found the cold in the northern part state, although in the south it was pleasant. Two ice formed in the watering hole.
He was offered a position ager of a large ranch, but mate did not look good to he returned to the land of and flowers.

W. M. Rose who since the establishment of H. H. Gardner & Co. has been manager of the firm's business here, leaves shortly for Tulare, where he will go into business. Mr. Rose has made an enviable record during his residence here as a reliable and conservative man, the esteem in which he is held being exhibited in his election a year ago as a member of the directors of the chamber of commerce. He takes with him in his new field of endeavor the best wishes of a host of friends for his continued success.
G. W. Temple of Seattle, who is spending the winter with his wife in Los Angeles, was in town on Monday, a guest of Capt. Barr. He was here a year ago, previous to which time he had not seen Capt. Barr in 29 years.
Alfred and Oscar Heying departed on Monday morning for San Francisco, after spending the holidays with their parents here. They are engaged in the pharmacy business in the northern metropolis.
Damon Snodgrass is sowing forty acres to barley in the west country. He looks for an abundance of rain and expects to harvest a fine crop. Good luck, Damon!
Will Duckworth has been on the sick list the past week with tonsillitis, his throat having had to be lanced nine times. He is recovering and is able to be out again.
F. C. Spencer was called to Santa Ana on Monday by the Gelderman insolvency proceedings, in which he is interested in his capacity as attorney.

District Attorney Davis has given notice to every gun club with land in the county that unless the law regulating the flow of artesian wells is strictly obeyed, he will enforce the ordinance. Under this law all artesian wells must be equipped with a device to regulate the flow, and any one allowing water to go to waste is deemed guilty of a misdemeanor. It is reported that at several hundred wells the law was violated.
TRAVEL SECTION
The Travel Section of the Ebell club met on Dec. 12th at the residence of Mrs. Dutton. The meeting was called to order by the leader, Mrs. Spencer. Roll call answered by facts concerning Jerusalem. Mrs. Rehwoldt was appointed critic. After a brief business meeting in which Mrs. Spencer and Miss Hayler were re-elected as leader and secretary respectively for the coming year, the following program was rendered.
