FOUNTAIN ON WALNUT STREET MR. ROYER MAKES CITY NOTABLE OFFER Will Erect Same if City Will Furnish Light and Water for It—Tim Carroll Asks for Electric Light Outside City Limits—Retail Merchants Want Stiff Fakir License The city trustees met on Thursday evening; present Trustees Rust, Fiscus, Stock, Gates and Kroeger. Marshal Steadman reported the following collections for November: Water $575.05, license $507.50, electric lights $1389.65; total $2472.20. Delinquents collected: Water $70.70, license $2, lights $213.95, total $286.65. Delinquents reported: Water $97.65, license $6.25, lights $137.75; total $241.65. Treasurer Boege reported a balance of $11,897.76 on hand. Recorder Howard reported three cases in court during the month. Total fines collected $10. Superintendent of streets reported on construction of cement sidewalk and curbing under private contract on East Center, Atchison, Broadway and other streets, the same having been accepted. Trustee Fiscus reported auditing bills to the amount of $395.32. The bond of Murphy oil company, in amount of $500, was accepted. Trustee Gates brought up the matter of securing deeds to a strip of land to widen Walnut street. Referred to city attorney. Phil Germain and Eugene Adams, marshal was authorized to perform M. The clerk was instructed Santa Fe company and Southern Pacific company in regard to crossings. The Southern Pacific coffered to deed to city a stretch to widen South Los Angeles and construct sidewalk and ferred to public improvement mittee with power to constrain walk and curb. A communication was received from the Southern Pacific company in reference to its tracks on Thalia street, which the city asks the company to remove. The company acknowledged receipt of a communication from the city, and promises to investigate. If the tracks are not used the same will be taken up. City Attorney Melrose reported he had received deeds or alley opening south of Center street, from all property owners except Mrs. Hussman and Mrs. Dreyfus. A check amounting to $231.37 from property owners affected by the opening of the new street, was handed the board, the same being the amount the city had paid in connection with the opening of Oak street. The trustees thereupon rescinded all actions heretofore taken to open said thoroughfare, and city attorney was instructed to begin condemnation suit against Mrs. Hussman and Mr. Hecht to obtain land necessary to complete street through block to a uniform width of 18 feet.
