Charles Baxter was tendered a surprise party by his neighbors Tuesday evening May 19, the occasion being his birthday. Lovering chaperoned the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades of the Orangethorpe school to the county park Saturday. The children said "It is fine up there." Just the place to have a good time. The children of the Orangethorpe school from first to fifth grades had a picnic at Mrs. Francis' Saturday afternoon. They brought their ice cream and cake and ate out on the lawn. All said they had a good time. Mrs. Carney and daughter and Mrs. Kemp visited at Los Angeles and Mt. Lowe last week. Donation party given by the Women's Auxiliary was largely attended and a great number of presents given to the boys.
