John Hartung attended a meeting Orange county bankers at Santa Ana one evening last week. The meeting discussed the financial situation, and those present were unanimously opinion that local finances were in exceptionally strong condition. The clearing of the eastern money situation was noted, and an improved condition was predicted for the west Pacific coast within a few days. With the payment of balances owing west banks by New York the flurry will at an end and finances resume the normal condition. The meeting decided to give a bond in the amount of $5,000 for county taxes, which are payable by checks. So far as the situation in this city is concerned, it is strong condition. Billings dropped in the sanctum on Saturday to point out the fact that the thermometer at his old home in North Dakota the day before marked 6 degrees below zero. Mr. Billings has been so well identified with this section that he has been admitted to membership of the oldest inhabitant club. He has experienced the rigors of one Southern California winter when the thermometer went down to 40 above. But for his relatives and a number of friends in Dakota who want to come to the land of glorious sunshine and flowers as soon as they can sell, he is ready to forget all about the land of the blizzard belt. Come out to California, you blizzard belters, and live in a country where life is worth living, as Mr. Billings has done, and grow up with the country. There's a few vacant places left.
