I. R. Brunn has instituted quiet title to property at the West naming Fred Shoater, F. Micklethwaite J. Van Vorst, Chas. B. Van Isadore Citron, F. Leavy, J. H. M Charles M. Leavy, and Marie L. Mann. Walter Heying was up from Los Alamitos the first of the week. He is sack sewer at the sugar mill and has the highest number of sacks sewed to his credit of any one engaged in that calling. Sacks are sewed by machinery and Walter says he can sew forty-seven a minute.

Leo Hessel and Tim Carroll Jr. celebrated their birthdays on Thursday, and invited a number of their friends to help enjoy the event at the West End. A capacious "Dutch pot," with extra Prime trimmings, was a feature and the boys say all hands had the time of their lives. During the evening a number were initiated into the "Gobblers," a secret organization, to join which a candidate experiences stunts of the exhilerating kind, when the goat is feeling at his best.
