forts of the citizens of this community to get a trolly line, and it seemed to him the present moment was the time to act.
Mr. Melrose here offered the resolution appearing at the head of this article. The motion was seconded by Judge Howard and carried unanimously.
The chair appointed Messrs. Howare, Melrose and Walker as such committee. They will probably meet Col. Pillsbury this week.
Dr. Freeman spoke of the business Fullerton offered a trolly line, and said he had been informed the line would probably terminate, temporarily at least, in this city. He urged that it be constructed to Fullerton, saying the additional traffic offered was large. The road would be a better paying investment if continued to that city.
Sandwiches and hot coffee were passed around and later cigars were lighted.
Mr. Melrose spoke of the changed condition of the relation between the towns of the county at the present time compared to the state of affairs existing fifteen years ago. Then it was the fashion for one town to knock the other; now harmony prevailed. That was the proper spirit, he said. That was the way to progress.
Attorney Marks spoke along similar lines and pledged Fullerton’s co-operation in securing the road for this city.
Mr. Benchley said he had something to say about Anaheim which he had been contemplating saying for a long time. He wished it to be accepted in the kindly spirit in which it was offered. He said: "One thing which Fullerton does not like about Anaheim is your open saloon on Sundays."

Attorney Marks spoke along similar lines and pledged Fullerton's co-operation in securing the road for this city.
Mr. Benchley said he had something to say about Anaheim which he had been contemplating saying for a long time. He wished it to be accepted in the kindly spirit in which it was offered. He said: "One thing which Fullerton does not like about Anaheim is your open saloons on Sunday, I am not a prohibitionist, and take a glass of beer when I feel like it. But I am opposed to Sunday saloons. I go hunting on Sunday, in the San Joaquin, and I know that between the hours of 5 and 7 on Sunday afternoons it is not safe for ladies to drive on the county road, between Orange and Anaheim. The thoroughfare is filled with men who are full: They come to Anaheim to get full. I think you ought to stop it."
Mr. Melrose said at the last city election the vote in favor of Sunday opening was insignificant, and he was of opinion that at the next election saloons would be closed on Sunday.
Judge Howard spoke along similar lines.
At 11 o'clock the meeting adjourned.
Brings Suit for Divorce
W. G. Emmett has brought suit for divorce from his wife, Mrs. Jennie Emmett, alleging statutory grounds. Their little four-year-old son is at the Sisters' School. Mrs. Emmett has been living in Los Angeles for some weeks past. She was shadowed by a private detective agency, and Mr. Emmett states he has sufficient evidence to secure a divorce. He gives notice elsewhere that he will not be responsible for any debts contracted by her.
A suit against him, in which he was charged with firing several shots at Wm. Hildebrand, his brother-in-law, at Norwalk several weeks ago, was last week dismissed. Emmett claims he fired the shots while in a playful mood. No one appeared against him.
He owns 102 acres of land here, and has contracted to sink 22 wells in Kern county for a land syndicate. He has shipped one set of well tools to that section, and will go to a depth of from 200 to 1000 feet. His other set of tools was the proper spirit, he said. That was the way to grogress.
