WILL MEET BEACH PEOPLE
Anaheim Will Sign Contract for Right of Way and Grading Electric Road from Garden Grove to This City.
Chairman Olmstead of the chamber of commerce stated at noon yesterday that a special meeting of the directors would be called for the afternoon to consider a formal proposition from the Huntington Beach company relative to the electric railway line from Garden Grove to this city.
If the Anaheim chamber of commerce will agree to procure this right of way, will grade the roadbed, and will back its promise by a contract signed by a number of the interested property-holders of the community, the Huntington Beach company promises to procure a contract from the Pacific Electric people to continue the road from Garden Grove to this city on the line mapped out. It is already well known that the Huntington Beach company hold a contract with the Pacific Electric company to construct an electric line from Huntington Beach to Garden Grove.

Anaheim must meet this proposal immediately if it desires this road. The expense will probably be $10,000.
Mr. Olmstead said the proposal of the Santa Ana chamber of commerce to deflect the line to that city instead of permitting it to continue to Garden Grove, will come up for consideration by the Electric company this week. He added Santa Ana has raised a fund of $30,000 to procure right of way, grade the roadbed and build a bridge across the river.
Property owners along the route southwest of the city, as well as business men in town, declare the necessary sum of money will be raised.
Yesterday's meeting was called for 4 o'clock. As we go to press it is announced the chamber of commerce would take up the matter immediately, and after the meeting would drive in autos along the route for the purpose of conferring with property owners relative to the matter in hand.
No Truth In Report
County School Superintendent Carpenter was in town this week and took occasion to emphatically deny the report emanating from Fullerton to the effect that he contemplated resigning his office.
"This rumor is news to me," he said, "and is made out of whole cloth. There is no ground whatever for it, and I do not understand why it should have been put in circulation."
Mr. Carpenter is an efficient and well-equipped public official, and it would be a public misfortune were the schools of the county to lose his services.

Work of Ruffians
Miss Pauline Weinburg who is employed in R. Fischle's confectionery store, while on her way home Friday evening about 9:30 o'clock was attacked by two young men on North Lemon street. The two ruffians had walked a short distance ahead of her for a block or more, and when near an orange grove, one of the fellows stopping suddenly and addressing the young lady said, "We ain't going to let you pass."
Miss Weinburg struck the fellow a blow in the face with her clenched fist, knocking him down. After regaining his feet the ruffian and his companion were still determined to intercept the young lady, and fearing further trouble with her assailants, she called for help. Mr. Owens who lives nearby came to her assistance, whereupon the young men beat a hasty retreat.
Miss Weinburg proceeded to her home, a short distance up the road, and told her parents of the dastardly attack. She could not positively identify her assailants in the darkness of the night, but is of opinion they were Mexicans.
Officers are working on the case and should the men be apprehended they will be severely dealt with.

Mrs. Richard Heimann Accidentally Kiffed
Mrs. Richard Heimann of Los Angeles, formerly a resident of this city, was accidentally killed by the electric cars at Manhattan Beach, near Redondo, at 7:30 o'clock on Monday evening. Mrs. Heimann had gone to the beach in company of her husband, and was waiting to take a car for her home in the city. While crossing the tracks she was caught by the car, which carried her some twenty feet before she was pitched to the ground.
Willing hands picked her up and carried her into a nearby house when it was discovered that life was extinct. The coroner was notified, and the remains were placed under the care of the undertaker of Redondo.
Mr. and Mrs. Heimann went down to Manhattan Beach on Monday morning for a day's outing, and while there had been talking together about their recent trip to the old country, and how pleasant it was that they had been able to take it together at their advanced age.
Mrs. Heimann was long a resident of this city, where she was held in high esteem by many friends. News of her deplorable death caused a shock to a wide circle of friends here.

MOLINE
In the Sealed Bonnet Reliability Test of the Chicago Motor Club,
MOLINE cars were entered. Both ended the run with perfect scores, a clear result following the entering of MOLINE cars in the Los Angeles Red Bonnet Contest. In neither of these runs were the cars driven by men prienced in anything other than sure driving. This is a glowing example of the ease with which MO-LINE cars can be driven, even in the most trying of contests.
As an additional test one of these cars was driven from Chicago, across the state of Illinois, to the home factory at East Moline, with the hood still sealed. When the seals were finally broken the motor was found to be in absolutely perfect condition. A record of this nature is worthy of consideration, when a person is contemplating the purchasing of a car.
