It was also agreed at this meeting to place a limited number of shares of stock on the market. The same may be had by applying at the laundry office on South Lemon street. It is the intention of the management of this popular concern to enlarge and improve the plant which is found to be inadequate to handle the large amount of work that is finding the way to its doors, not only from Anaheim, but also from neighboring towns. The plant has been somewhat handicapped in the past by being unable to secure competent workmen, but during the past two weeks arrangements have been made whereby C. E. Lawrence of Troy, N. Y., together with a competent corps of assistants, has been secured which insures the turning out of high class of work. By patronizing the Anaheim Steam Laundry it means that your money is kept at home, and the management guarantees just as good service as can be had anywhere in Orange county. The plant is controlled almost exclusively by local men who have had the courage to undertake an enterprise of this kind and are deserving of the support of all loyal Anaheimers. The following letter received at this office has been referred to the Lancaster Literary society: "I married a widower and went to live in the home where he had lived with his first wife. I find a number of her clothes in a closet—to wit, one brown dress skirt, two petticoats, three pairs of stockings, one pair of slippers and a black silk waist. Center St. Sunset 291 Water Out of City Mains At 7 o'clock on Monday evening water was turned out of the city mains for the night, in order to admit of connecting the large water mains at the corner of Center and Los Angeles streets. The work was completed abobout 5:30 o'clock on Tuesday morning. Engineers Lewis and Nolenberg and a force of assistants made the connections. They worked in the trench by electric light, and were watched until late by a large crowd of spectators. In the residence districts, where no notification of the shut-off was given, no little inconvenience ensued. It was at first reported water would be out for an hour, but when it was later learned the dry spell would continue all night, water was procured from private wells in various parts of town. Work upon the new powerhouse is progressing satisfactorily, but when the works will be turned over to the city no one can tell. It will probably be some months yet. To Contest Election At a meeting of the citizens of Imperial a few days ago, at which almost every business house of that place was represented, while many other citizens were present, it was decided on unanimous rising vote to proceed with a contest of the election in one or more precincts where glaring frauds were perpetrated in the recent county divisiolation election.
