W. H. Spake has sold his home place, corner of Olive and Broadway, to Edgar E. Angell. Mr. Spake will erect another residence. With his family he will spend the summer at the beaches.
We acknowledge receipt from the ladies of the W. C. T. U. of a bouquet of lovely sweet peas. Attached is the inscription: "From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I." [Ps. 61-2.] We salute the ladies, and hope they may live long and prosper.
The city has instituted suit against Mrs. Joseph des Granges to condemn a strip of ground for widening Broadway. Mrs. des Granges' property is situated at the corner of Lemon and Broadway, and the city seeks to sequester twenty feet from the south contour line. All the other property owners on the street have consented, but Mrs. Des Granges will give the city a run for its money.
New articles received at the chamber of commerce for display this week include a bunch of 15 perfectly formed walnuts from the Katella orchard, a bunch of rye six feet high raised by Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Grim and their partners, Misses Mary and Ruth, having their departure for the east one-tenth visit to friends and relatives. They will visit the Jamestown station and other points of interest away. During Mr. Grim's absence business interests will be in charge Jake Schumacher, who has been identified with the company and peculiar fitness to fill the place chief during his absence.
Mrs. C. S. Baxter, recently arrived from San Francisco, has purchased a restaurant in the Kraemer building Center street, east of the First National bank, and is conducting same as a first-class eating-Mrs. Baxter conducted a restaurant San Francisco up to the time of fire, and since coming south has ducted restaurants in Los Angeles other cities. She is experienced business and sets before her guests best the market affords.
J. H. Boney, wife and son, C. Skinner and wife, J. W. The complaint states that contracts were made with Kealiber for the delivery of fifteen tons of chile peppers of last year's crop to the plaintiff for ten cents per pound but that only...

The complaint states that contracts were made with Keallher for the delivery of fifteen tons of chile peppers of last year's crop to the plaintiff for ten cents per pound, but that only 6215 pounds were delivered. R. Meloose is attorney for defendant, and H.S. Rollins of Los Angeles for plaintiffs.

S. O. Walker. Harry Whitaker, George Miller and Charley Damron, four mighty nimrods of Buena Park, spent two days in Coldwater canyon fishing for trout. They went in Mr. Walker's auto on Saturday morning, and had 52 beauties for breakfast Sunday morning. They returned the following day.
District Attorney Davis and a posse of constables raided three blind pigs at San Juan on Saturday night at 9 o'clock and gathered in a number of sellers of illicit booze along with a large quantity of exhilerant. Two wineries east of Santa Ana were also raided on Sunday morning, incriminating evidence being secured against Joseph and George Young, who were placed under arrest, together with the latter's son. Eight of the accused gave bail in $300 before Judge Pfeiffer of Orange on Sunday morning and were liberated pending arraignment on Monday morning. At their hearing at that time six San Juan blind piggers were find $125 each, which they paid. The case of the Youngs was continued until Tuesday, when they announced they would contest the case in court. Two charges against each of the three Youngs have been preferred, and their trials will be held in the near future. One of them was recently fined $500 for illicit liquor selling.
