WARM WORDS ABOUT HOTEL Chamber of Commerce Thresh Out Proposition for Financing Tenant for Projected McLaughlin Building So spirited was the discussion of a new hotel project, at the meeting of the board of directors of the chamber of commerce on Thursday evening, that President Ahlborn was compelled to admonish the debating directors to eliminate personalities from the discussion. It all happened by Mr. Resh presenting a water-color sketch of the new McLaughlin building and desiring the chamber of commerce to take the initiative in securing a suitable person to conduct it as an up-to-date hotel. It is understood Mrs. McLaughlin will not build until she is guaranteed a tenant, with assurances that rent will be paid for a year. He expressed himself as being heartily in favor of such a plan and, being a good thing for the town, he opined that other members should look at the proposition in the same light. Mr. Resh is local agent for the proposed building. Capt. Williams was averse to the project and argued that if any one wanted to go into the hotel business in this city he should go into it without assistance from the chamber. He as a member of the board would not agree to father any such project. Mr. Wickett was of a similar frame Like an Oncoming Wave Is Skiing for Division Continued from Page 1 by his latest break, when he met some of the lady attached upper house were prostitute McFadden wants Melrose to Sacramento and save the county. Williams was averse to the project and argued that if any one wanted to go into the hotel business in this city he should go into it without assistance from the chamber. He as a member of the board would not agree to father any such project. Mr. Wickett was of a similar frame of mind. Mr. Resh—"I am doing this for the good of the town, and if the rest of the board do not care to take hold of the matter, I will drop it and quit." He further remarked that if the chamber did not bestir itself, he would personally endeavor to secure a tenant, to the end that the city should have a first-class hostelry. Barring the tilt between the new directors the meeting was harmonious and a batch of routine business was transacted, including the arrangement of Arbor Day festivities for tomorrow, and the appointment of committees to see that a fitting celebration be held in this city. The city band will be out and Henry Adams will be marshal of the day. All the automobilists in this section will be asked to parade. There will be a baseball game between the Anaheim and Fullerton highschool teams at athletic park besides other contests and races. The board now meets on the first and third Thursday evening of each month. At its next meeting an attempt will be made to form a "Booster" club, with a view of putting the town in line with other progressive communities. E. Grogan, a former resident of Anaheim and later of Washington, D.C., was in town yesterday. Mr. Grogan has been a resident of Long Beach for three years. Richard Melrose replied that reasons were petty and peuple considered alongside of the attempted dismemberment of ange county. The people of Angeles county did not ask formation of the strip, and there was a large delegation from H.Beach to protest against the bill. Orange county opposed and would fight it to the law. He said the bill would take an ange county's shoreline, with ception of two or three miles of the shoreline being marked cipitous bluffs and rocky fills which made it undesirable frontage. He took up Stanton about county roads and provoked falsity. James McFadden spoke against the bill. F. O. Daniel, attorney forers in their fight against Chica gun club, addressed the legal points involved. Sherriff Lacy said Stanton about non-protection from law was not in accordance with the Mr. Price of Huntington Bayported Stanton, but was shil while at Santa Ana last week signed a petition against disuction Stanton declared Price tampered with. Huntington Beach Divided Word from Huntington Beach yesterday was to the effect the community was divided upon the question of secession. Promises by Santa Ana to treat the beach town fairly in future, to restore to them the rural mail route which rightfully belongs to Huntington Beach, to afford them protection from overflow of the river, to give them good roads, and to work for an electric railway joining the two towns, have served to allay much of the feeling against the county seat. On the other hand, there are others just as insistent as ever for division. A mass meeting held at the beach town early in the week adopted resolutions favoring division. A later meeting counsel-ed a more conservative course. Stanton’s bill will probably come up for consideration in committee early next week, and the fight against the measure will be on in Sacramento in real earnest. Their Second Marriage William H. Morgan and Martha M. Morgan of Santa Ana have agreed to try matrimony a second time, and they were married the other day. They have agreed to forget their past troubles and to live happy ever after. A marriage license was issued to them by the county clerk some days ago, reading like this: William H. Morgan, aged 58, and Martha M. Morgan, aged 53, both natives of Virginia, and both residents of Santa Ana. This is the second venture of the two into married life together. Once before it was attempted, but in those days the years were fewer than they are now and blood was prone to be aroused to anger. A divorce was gotten in Los Angeles and since then the couple have lived apart. But they have decided to finish life together. Hence the marriage license. The old decree of divorce was presented to the clerk, as is necessary when a divorced person asks for a license to again wed. The money for the bill will not be available until next month and it is hoped that very soon after the survey will begin. Who have examined Newport and who are thoroughly informed concerning it declare that the opportunities to make a permanent harbor are bright. Col. Finley, former surveyor, says: "Think that Newport Bay offers a series of exceptional points. The sea is greater than any bay beaches San Diego and San Francisco. Sea is greater than San Pedro and before any work was done on think the bay will become a valiant point for shipping, especially for trade." Head Consul J. H. Game Protection The Orange County Fish and Game Protective association has passed resolutions condemning the proposed division of the state into small game districts. The association resolutions state that if any districts are to be formed, the seven Southern California counties should be in one district. A petition being signed is addressed to the representatives in the legislature, asking that they use their influence to block the movement to make small game districts. Nature, states the petition, has made the southern counties require different game laws from those required in the north. The petition asks for a closed season on ducks from March 15 to November 15; on doves from February 15 to August 1; on jack snipe from May 1 to November 1; on bay snipe, curlew and large waders and shore birds, from August 1 to May 1 of the next year; tree squirrels from January 1 to July 1, and no changes in other closed seasons as they now are. The bag limit proposed is, Wilson snipe, twenty, and all other birds twenty-five.
