LOCAL EVENTS John Hartung was a business visitor in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Mrs. C. F. Grim is spending the week with friends at Long Beach. S. E. Fix has gone to Kopowsin, Wash., where he will reside. Joseph Fiscus is planting 43 acres to walnuts on his ranch south of town. H. P. Foote of Cleveland, Ohio, an uncle of L. E. Miller, is in town on a visit to that gentleman. W. J. Adams of Oxnard, brother of Dr. W. W. Adams, is a guest of that gentleman. The Buick is the car supreme. "Good anywhere, but best on hills."—Wm. F. Lutz Co., of Santa Ana stand ready to prove the assertion. Rev. Nunan of Pomona, was a guest Sunday this week of Rev. Father Dubbel. A. Brown and W. Guess, relatives of Dr. Adams, have arrived from Missouri, accompanied by their parents, and will locate. Mrs. Edith Green Lawrence of Ocean Park spent the past week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Green of Miraflores. Wm. Green and wife of Miraflores departed yesterday for Ocean Park, where they will take up their residence in their summer cottage for six or eight months. Postmaster Duckworth had photographs taken of the entire force at the postoffice last week and presented each with one. Whiting of the Santa Ana Register was in town this week in interest of the circulating department of that paper. Mr. Whiting is a well-known newspaper man, formerly Ventura county, and while here many friends for himself and his parish Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Wyatt have sent to Mrs. L. Schultz property at the corner of Olive and Adele streets, 136x feet, for $4000. The tract contains three modern cottages. Mrs. Schultz will be shortly joined by her husband who is a contractor and builder, and now engaged upon the erection of large building in the northern part of the state. He will occupy the lower floor for his hardware store, and the rooms upstairs will be fitted up for offices. A large delegation of Turners go to San Diego on Saturday morning to attend the opening of the new gymnasium and hall built by the German Societies of that city. Three days festivities will be participated in, including athletic contests, various entertainments and reunions. You'll probably not need a safe after the fire. Better get one now. Wm. F. Barker Van Zandt, the well-known traveling salesman for Blake, Moffett & Towne, Los Angeles paper dealers, was married at Santa Ana the first of the week to Miss Irene Mayer, a charming society belle of Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Van Zandt departed for Phoenix and other territorial points, where their honeymoon will be spent. We extend felicitations. William August Antlitz, a five-year-old orphan living at St. Catherine's academy in this city, is the central figure in a suit brought in the superior court to secure control of his estate, which is understood to be of considerable value. Some weeks ago William G. Perzel of Los Angeles, who claims no relationship with the orphan, asked for letters of guardianship over the minor, who has no relatives in California. This week the Mother Superior of the academy asked for letters of guardianship, and Judge West will decide the case. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Wyatt have sent to Mrs. L. Neff reports water in his wrist has risen 44 inches since August being at the present time up to mark of three years ago. During January the raise amounted to 18 inch Mr. Neff expects a raise of an inch per day during the next two months, when the total raise since August will have been 8 feet 8 inches. Mila Anaheim. Mrs. Wm. Usher, mother of Mr Richard Burmeister, formerly residing here, died at her home in Guadalajara Mex., some days ago. After a lingering illness Mr. Usher is a conductor in the Mexican Central railroad and lived in Mexico a number of years. Formerly he ran a local train through this city.
