made when the trees came into bearing.
In speaking of the nut he stated that the shape of the nut had much to do with the amount of meat it contained.
The ordinary soft shell this year had carried seven ounces of meat to the pound and hard shells six ounces to the pound.
The long nuts carried eight ounces to the pound or one ounce more than the chunky short nuts. These conclusions are the result of experiments this year.
The question was brought up that if Mr. Ware succeeding in finding a cure for the walnut blight, would it not be necessary for him to secure a patent on it over the association before he could collect the $20,000. He answered that he supposed he would, but Mr. Crowther on behalf of the association stated that all that was necessary was to present the receipt to the association and that the money would be paid.
Mr. Neff then read a letter from A. M. West in regard to the blight. In substance Mr. West stated that there was a question as to whether this disease was not bacteria instead of climatic.

Chicago, Feb. 7.—The Record-Herald today says: "Between fifteen and twenty-five thousand homeseekers started for the West and Southwest yesterday through the gateways of Chicago, Memphis, St. Louis, Kansas City and Omaha, according to declarations by passenger men who have been closely watching the movement, which has been going on ever since the cheap rates were put into effect, late last fall. Yesterday's movement was a record-breaker, and it is said more people have sought homes in the Southwest in the last three months than ever before during a similar period.
