A question being debated minds of many is what will be come of the difficulty which likely to arise between the government and the California operation company, in which the States may be a party, as the Colorado’s channel through Mexican intake and as a result stream’s diversion for irrigation poses in Yuma and San Diego.
It is generally believed well posted that the discussion is certain to ensue will almost result in a new treaty wence to the boundary at the and the terms of that treaty be conjectured.
There is a strong possibility something of a probability, thing will end by the Mexican ment ceding Lower California United States for a considerer support of this theory, it is po that Lower California, the version of Mexico, which has not admitted to statehood, is so from the seat of government resources can never be developed perly, and inasmuch as it is and considerable expense the government will not be averting it go.
With Lower California in United States its resources of could be developed rapidly would soon become a great stockraising and agricultural Its immense expanse of sea coast be of inestimable value and cano lakes, possessing well known and medical qualities, wo become a popular resort.—Yu

Gladstone's Speech For Irving.
Gladstone was a great admirer of Sir Henry Irving, and this admiration was shown one day in the house of commons. Irving was under the gallery in the house when suddenly, without apparent reason, Gladstone leaped to his feet and delivered an impassioned speech, set off with all the expression and dramatic gesture for which he was so famous. The house seemed surprised. Members looked at one another and murmured, "What is the old man now up to tell?"
New Battleships
Washington, Jan. 11.—The constructors and the engineers perts of the Navy Department gaged on the plans and specied for the two 16,000 ton battleshored at the last session of Congress. The designers are proceeding their work on the theory that they will not be asked to increase placement. Of course, naval is in agreement upon changes in displacement increase but the other considerations which evinced control and which have led to clusion that it is just as well vide for the ships of smaller size cordingly, the various bureaucracy navy department are engaged paring the estimates of weight are to be credited to each bureau completed vessels. It is under consideration, or not one of the ships she equipped with turbine power of the ordinary reciprocating eel. The result of the tests with the steamers have been so favorable a strong sentiment in favor of method of propulsion has developed among progressive experts.
"See America First"
The chamber of commerce of Lake City, Utah, is working to keep American money from flowing millions each year to Europe, the same time have some of it be west for distribution in the states. To centralize this idea Commercial club has called a convention to meet in Salt Lake on the 4th of this month, for the purpose of definite steps to bring about desired condition. According to bulletin issued by the Salt Lake mercial club Americans spend 100,000 every year in Europe and

Irving was under the gallery in the house when suddenly, without apparent reason, Gladstone leaped to his feet and delivered an impassioned speech, set off with all the expression and dramatic gesture for which he was so famous. The house seemed surprised. Members looked at one another and murmured, "What is the old man now up to?" They thought it was some deep political game. But a week or two later a friend of Irving's, encountering Mr. Gladstone, mentioned the actor's visit to the house, and Gladstone eagerly inquired: "What did he think of my speech? I made it for him."
Skinning a Sable.
The method of skinning a sable is to draw the skin over the head without any incision in the body. The feet and tail are left as part of the fur. Every thirtieth of an inch is valuable, for the average length of the animal is only twelve inches and the tail about six inches. In the reign of Henry VIII, the use of sable was forbidden to any below a viscount. A coat lined with sables is often worth from £300 to £400. A set of sable tails can hardly be sold for less than £50. — London Standard.
The Snail.
The slowest creatures in creation are snails and certain small beetles. Some of them habitually move only a foot or two in an hour, but this slowness is partly due to the fact that they remain motionless at intervals. By measuring the distances covered by snails when they were kept going constantly it has been found that the maximum speed of a good healthy snail is five and a half feet an hour.

Gasoline Cars
Two Union Pacific gasoline cars will soon be assigned to take the places of steam cars on the branch lines of the Southern Pacific in Southern California, according to statements made by railroad officials. The gasoline cars turned out by the shops in Omaha have been tested and found entirely satisfactory. They are in use now on all the local branch lines running out of Omaha, and from results shown they are in every way able to compete with electric cars, and in regard to efficiency and economy of handling and sureness of operation, they are superior.
Orders for a number of these cars have been turned into the shops in Gmaha, and it is expected that when finished the cars will be sent to points on the Southern Pacific system where the traffic does not seem to warrant the running of steam trains.
The time is near at hand when the service on the branch and suburban lines out of Los Angeles on the Southern Pacific will be handled by these gasoline cars.
With the new year these gasoline cars will be introduced on the Union Pacific between Lawrence and Leavenworth, Kansas. Experiments have been in progress some time and the installation of the cars is now finally decided upon. One trailer will be attached to the motor car and it will pull the regular passehger train between Leavenworth and Lawrence. If this new move proves to be a success, motor cars will be put on every branch road on the system within a year.
