The municipal water works have turned into the city treasury during the past ten years a total surplus of $2,973.93. The water rate is ten cents per 100 cubic feet, equaling 750 gallons. The minimum monthly rate is $1.00, which gives consumers the right to use 7,500 gallons of water per month in their household, upon lawns and for other purposes. This rate, it is considered, is sufficiently reasonable at this time, and no reduction is contemplated, although a cut may be made when the enlarged power-house gets in running order.
