How to Be Sure—Of the Best Paint OUR GUARANTEE—We guarantee our Horseshoe Brand Prepared Paint to be made wholly of Strictly Pure Carbonate of Lead known as Strictly Pure White Lead, Strictly Pure Oxide of Zinc, Strictly Pure Linseed Oil and Strictly Pure Turpentine Japan, or the necessary color to produce the shades, and that it contains no adulterating or cheapening material whatever. It is sold subject to Chemical Analysis. ALSO—We guarantee Horseshoe Brand Prepared Paint when compared to a Paint made wholly of Strictly Pure White Lead and Linseed Oil, and when applied under the same conditions, to cover more surface, cover the surface better and to last longer than the Lead and Oil. FURTHERMORE—We guarantee that Horseshoe Brand Prepared Paint where properly applied will not chalk, crack or peel, and guarantee it to stand three years for two coat work and five years for three coat work. If it fails to do this, we agree to furnish, free of charge, sufficient Paint to repaint the house. Some manufacturers guarantee the composition of their Paint, others guarantee the wearing qualities of theirs. We guarantee both composition and wearing qualities. And prove the truth of our claims by the following Certificate of Purity on every can of Horseshoe Brand Prepared Paint: Chemists' Certificate of Absolute Purity, St. Louis, April 21, 1905. At various times within the past eighteen years, we have analyzed different shades of Horseshoe Paint purchased at random in the open market and have invariably found this paint to contain Absolutely Pure ingredient, without any adulterations whatever. Our analyses bear out in every particular the guarantee of absolute purity, as set forth on the label, and support the claims of the manufacturers. This makes you sure of the best paint—the best quality—the best results. CITRUS Fruit Shipment Southern California citrus growers who ship their fruit to the exchange, on the basis of cars shipped last season, received $1,250,000 more for the number of cars shipped than it was last year. After of fact, about 14,200 cars been shipped to date this season an average of about $500 per car. So that between the increase and increased shipments, growers have already receive 100,000 more for fruit already ped this season than for which shipped during the whole last year. Exchange shipments have gated about 48 percent of the eastern California crop. The per cent has been divided, and per cent being handled by California Citrus Union, and remaining 36 per cent by indigo packers and shippers. They have been able to magnificent showing made exchange is not in evidence, they have participated in the increase to some extent, goes out saying. And taking this into account the fact that there will be moments for another month or to the present season, it is guessed to say that the citrus growers of Southern California receive something like $4 more for the crop of 1905 th forth on the label, and support the claims of the manufacturer. The American way of packing is also desired, when well done, but many complaints are heard concerning boxes, which are too weak and cause breakage, which damages the contents. Prunes from California can be much better preserved than French prunes, and Americans have reached perfection in that line. Particularly larger sizes are desirable and sell readily. Those of thirty to forty to the pound up to sixty to seventy to the pound are what is wanted. The California prune is popular, and will sell readily when the crop in France falls below a certain amount." Concerning the repacking of American prunes into French receptacles the same importer said: "Three or four years ago, when the prune crop here was a failure, the countrymen producing these prunes again tried to import prunes from California in barrels and boxes, and afterward repacked them in the French manner, which permitted the raising of prices. But the consumer soon perceived the fraud, and today it is impossible to repeat this, as the consumer, who is accustomed to California prunes, wants them in the original boxes.
