Subscriptions will be solicited this week for the purchase of a site to be offered the state for a pathological station. Our readers are already aware of the nature of the enterprise, and there exists a general unanimity of sentiment in favor of the effort to locate it here. Men of means should respond liberally. Let all the money necessary be subscribed this week. We have dangerous rivals in Riverside, Whittier and Monrovia, each of which, we understand, is after the station. These communities are alert and aggressive, and if Anaheim expects to win the prize its citizens must be up and doing to the end that an appropriate site may be secured.
Mr. Gervaise, living on South Los Angeles street, manifests a commendable spirit in offering a free site on his property. More men like him in the community, and we should have no fear about getting the station, for Anaheim is high standing. He ran with the foremost business in the state, and his neighbors friends in Orange county nothing but words of caution for his services in the He has been president of Walnut growers' association has attended to the business organization with energy utility, always serving with His friends express the hope he may be able to free him any and all entangling and that with a new start may be permitted to re-place in business and financial cles. We have nothing of commendation for the acts of a public and private for which the community obligations to this gentleman has been a good citizen hope he may come off with colors in his case against ours coterie of vampires sought his financial Strength to his arm against assassins.

Mr. Gervaise, living on South Los Angeles street, manifests a commendable spirit in offering a free site on his property. More men like him in the community, and we should have no fear about getting the station, for Anaheim is the natural point, all things considered, for this station.
Let the committee be met with liberality, and do not permit the solicitors to call twice. Either contribute, or say you will not, so that attention may be devoted to more enterprising citizens. But contribute, and contribute liberally, and let there be no ifs, ands or buts about it. We want that laboratory.
Recent surveys seem to have turned property lines topsy-turvy. The latest discovery is that Warner’s barn projects fourteen inches upon the property on which the Odd Fellows are preparing to erect a two-story brick block. Mr. Nemetz finds his paint shop infringes an inch upon Mrs. Strodthoff’s Center-street property. Several fences and at least one barn have had to be moved in order to conform to the spirit of progress. These changes foreshadow a building boom which will be on in full swing before the summer is well advanced.

Mr. Neff have known that in order to free himself from further losses by unscrupulous business associates in his confidence years ago in the north he would be compelled to avail himself of proceedings in bankruptcy. Mr. Neff has lived amongst us many years, and has always borne an irreproachable reputation and occupied a high position among business and financial circles. He has grown a splendid orchard of walnut and other trees, and was one of the first to demonstrate the fine adaptability to walnut culture of the section southwest of the city. He owes not a dollar to local people, and his recent proceedings in the courts have reference to old-time connections in San Francisco, in which he seems to have been made a prey to unscrupulous associates.
Mr. Neff has given much of his time and money to work for the public's good, and for years has been vice president of the California Deciduous Fruit Exchange, and in the absence of President Sprague in the north, has been in charge of the headquarters office in Los Angeles. He has been in charge of millions of dollars of fruit shipments, and has not only given a good account of his stewardship, but has brought to the management of the exchange business foresight and experience of a

We last week published the program of a farmer's institute to be
held at Riverside the 7th and 8th
of April. We wish to call attention to two special features which
will probably make it the most important meeting of growers and
packers of citrus fruits yet held in Southern California. Nineteen hundred and five is evidently to mark the commencement of a new era-in California agricultural education and demonstration. The late legislation has greatly strengthened the hands of our state university in this department. President Wheeler is enthusiastically interested in the new development now made possible. Although excessively busy he has consented to come and address the meeting on this subject. Prof. Stubenrauch,
in charge of field investigations of
the agricultural department of the university, will present the plan and scope of extended experiments in citrus orchard fertilization commenced last year, under the man-agement of J. W. Mills. A discussion of the plans for these import-

Prof. Stubenrauch, in charge of field investigations of the agricultural department of the university, will present the plan and scope of extended experiments in citrus orchard fertilization commenced last year, under the management of J. W. Mills. A discussion of the plans for these important investigations is desired, since their success depends largely upon the co-operation of practical orchardists. Harold G. Powell, pomologist in charge of fruit storage investigations of the United States department of agriculture, with assisting experts, has been in Southern California three months, beginning exhaustive investigations as to causes and possible prevention of citrus fruit decay. Results already obtained are most marked and unexpected. These results so far as definitely determined, and the methods of securing them, will be presented by Mr. Powell, and discussed by practical growers and packers who have had opportunity of following the experiments.
Since time has not allowed Mr. Powell to carry on these demonstrations in but a limited number of places, it is exceedingly important that a good representation of both growers and packers from all orange growing sections be present, that the results thus far obtained may be as widely disseminated as possible, the best means of utilizing them discussed, and the importance of the investigations being continued, considered. Both packing houses and railroads are rendering Mr. Powell every possible facility for carrying on his work, and experimental cars are now being started on their long journey nearly every day. It is believed by those who have followed the experiments closely that this scientific research has already disclosed the

At the two years ago the saloon-kerted no little influence, among themselves and their associates probably Dan Baker and Judge apostles of the wets, have served to their fathers, and keepers are gone. As a fact the wets have practiced up the fight.
Propping of county politics in Santa Ana's municipal and two good men, one a man, the other a democrat, led to the slaughter.
One is about what the will do to the wets at Santaction on Monday. Jeems will rape Oyama Goep-Cubbon will blossom out servant for the republicanion for assessor, and Jim will be put to sleep as a for the democratic nominator sheriff.
TO THE PUBLIC
I take the liberty of informing the people of Anaheim that I will be succeeded by Mr. C. I. Hoople in the jewelry business on the 10th of April. I know Mr. Hoople to be a good watchmaker, being for two years past with Montgomery Bros. of Los Angeles, engaged as a first class watch repairer. He comes to Anaheim with the intention of staying and give to all his customers perfect satisfaction. All repairs will be accepted now in my store as Mr. Hoople will occupy the old stand until such time when his new store is finished. I am thankful to all my customers for their generous patronage, and it is my hope that the same liberal patronage be extended Mr. Hoople. Very respectfully, M. Barborka.
According to a bulletin issued by the U.S. Geological survey California is now the leading state in the production of oil.
