Los Angeles city is becoming more tolerant for brand rape fends. Within a few weeks two of the most fondish amateurs open in family have been discovered, and in both cases inhuman stepfathers being the miscellaneous.
The Southern California Fair held at Riverside last week was a success, many thousands of people being in attendance to view the collections of fruits. Almost every fruit-growing locality in this part of the State was more or less represented there. We learned that our exhibit was in keeping with the best in the pavilion. The catrich plumers on Anaheim's table were the cause of much admiration. Anaheim may rest assured that she done nobly by being represented at this horticultural fair.
The Los Angeles Pomological Society will hold its next quarterly session at Glendora, a new town that is not even located on the map. But that town is wide awake to its own interests. As the last January meeting was held there, that town gave a pressing invitation for the April meeting which will be on the first Thursday in April. Why not extend the society an invitation to hold their next July meeting here? And mingle our patronism and well-earned experience in horticultural matters by holding a grand celebration.
A peculiar case is reported as having happened in a town in Nevada a few days ago. It appears that the wife of a man named Hennay had been repeatedly insulted by a dude named Randall. The latest break in female insulting by the dundally included individualled to his receiving a severe chastisement at the hands of the husband. After being beaten by Heeney, the one glass-eyed man was taken before his victim of insults and forced, on bended knee, to apologize. At this moment, Randall's hands were securely bound by the excited male parent and after having a tin can filled with stones attached to his waist, the dude was started on a run through the main streets of the town at midday. The enraged father followed close behind, and every few steps saluted Randall with pile driver force in the don’t want it; by won’t have it. Hence it will be that when the storm comes the Anaconda will be well braced in the wind. Then all places in the world we have the greatest respect for Anaconda because it is so humble and fast from alms and makes believen. Its climate is good enough for the Anaconda, and if others don’t seek its softness and beauty he is willing to enjoy it alone.
A Living on tree Acre.
South Riverside Ave.
There is a man living near San Bernardino who claims that a good living may be made from one acre of land. Briefly, his method is to first make a carefully study of the products which do best in his locality, those which are sought most and which pay the highest market price. Then he plants a row of fruit trees around the acre lot, from which he has realized as high as $250 to $400 for a season’s fruit. Then he put in one-quarter of an acre to strawberries, which, the year after they were planted, brought in $200, beside all that were eaten and given away. From the rest of the land three crops of different vegetables were taken each year. By using the most approved methods of cultivation and the best seed obtainable, our gardener raised crops so large and of such excellent quality that he competed successfully with the Chinese gardeners. He sold $160 worth of produce from his acres, and kept chinkens, a pig and a cow. This is a splendid record, and shows that the ten lancets is undoubtedly to cultivate the amount of land that can be tilled to pay the best. No man should attempt to farm more land than he can take care of to the very least advantage.
A little nonsense now and then is relied by politicians as well as by the best of men, says Clara Belle in the San Francisco Call of the 9th, and when New York’s big politician was about as apparently hilarious as a crowd of ten-year-olds. A few evening ages a half-dozen County Democracy lights, including Judge Martine late District Attorney, went up to the great toboggan stile at Fleetwood Park, and encountered there a select party of Tammy braves, including Sheriff Hugh J. Grant. As the lion and the lamb are still supposed to lie down together, for prudential reasons the statesmen mingled freely. Sheriff Brans, who is grateful and an old timer at the sport, took the forward seat on a toboggan constructed for the benefit of loving couples. A friend was about to take the bill.
Mr. Minterdorfer Jay Gould and in some Minimal Metabolism.
It had been ten years long my heart met Jay Gould until I did not patently understand how much joy they drew from me dropped in before I took a seat here rooms to wait for the great railroad company.
“I believe that I have never had any business relations with the previous Mr. Gould, and, apologizing for my dropped in before I took a seat here rooms to wait for the great railroad company. You do not need me because I have purchased a difference of treasure since I saw you, and while I wear this season change appearance also, I remember you very much.”
“Well, if we grant all that Mr. Gould you excuse me for asking you to write indebted for this call.”
“Well, Mr. Gould,” said I rising to height and putting my soft hat on the Venus de Milo, after which I made THE INTERVIEW.
oppose him in a desgage western war are indebted to me for this call. That you’re indebted to me but we will let us We are not here to talk about indie Jay. If you are busy you need’t try call till next winter. But I am converse in a quiet way; as between man. To talk over the past day to ask your conduct is and to inquire if I can any good in any way whatever. Time to speak pieces and ask in a gritual way. To what you are indebted rail.’ My main object in coming up to take you by hand and ask your memory is this spring! Judging what I could bear, I was led to believe was a little inclined to be sluggish as piled days and to keep you awake n’t that so, Jay.”
“No sir; that is not so.”
“Very well, then I have been mistreated reports in the papers, and I am glad I mistake. Now, one thing more before Did it ever occur to you that while your family are all out in your yard get some day, a sudden snail.”
A recent dispatch from an Eastern town gave an account of the most recent exploit of the association known as the "White Caps," which has its headquarters in Southern Indiana. In that locality resides a man named Williams and his wife, who have been subjected to great antigonies at the hands of the White Caps. At the time Williams claimed to have recognized among his assailants a prominent young man named Courtney. Williams sought the arrest of Courtney, who fled the country, but was recently arrested elsewhere and brought back under a requisition. The news of the arrest coming to the ears of the White Caps, they went to Williams' house, and on being denied admittance broke in the door, tied their victim's wife to a bed, and then took the husband into the yard and bound him to a tree. Upon his refusing to make a sworn statement exonerating their member, the White Caps flagged their unfortunate victim until he became unconscious, and then left him where he was subsequently found in a dying condition. The White Caps are a self-constituted band, the oath of the purpose of which is to regulate the morals of the locality where they hold forth. If they happened to find a husband who neglected to perform his fatherly duty, or a woman who appeared to fancy some other man better than her lawful husband, or who did not properly care for her children, this new fashioned organization would formally canonize the desinquents, by anonymous epistles or otherwise, and then, if the warning were unheeded, would take the man or woman, as the case may be, whose conduct dissatisfied their motions of pure morality, bind and gag him or her, and proceed to administer a flogging to such an extent as the necessities of the case in their judgment demanded. This last exploit shows the vice of such unlawful combinations. The fact that they have been able to carry on their mode of reforming politicians get out of school they are about as apparently hilarious as a crowd of ten-year-olds. A few evenings ago a half dozen County Democracy lights, including Judge Martinez, late District Attorney, went up to the great tobogan slide at Fleetwood Park, and encountered there a select party of Tammy Braves, including Sheriff Hugh J. Grant. As the lion and the lamb are still supposed to lie down together, for prudential reasons the statemen mingled freely. Sheriff Grant, who is grateful and an old timer at the sport, took the forward seat on a tobogan constructed for the benefit of loving couples. A friend was about to take the back when he heard Judge Martinez remark that he had never attempted to sit upon a tobogan and insisted that the Judge try it. The latter, who weighs over 200 pounds, was finally perma-nated. As soon as he got his feet singly showed away beside those of the Shoofliff other boys changed an elephant wink and the tobogan was raised and shot down the skull with the speed of a gale. The County Democrat Judge gave one deserving cry, then clutched the Tammany Hall Sheriff about the waist in an embrace more close than brotherly. The pair came back all right, but the embrace cost the Judge several bottles of wine.

Thank you," said Mr. Gould, as this memoir在the next room suddenly framed and boost with a loud report." And if you will excuse me from offsetting my mind which is worth $500 a minute against which I judge to be worth about $1 per day I will go your good morning."
He then held the door open for me shortly after that I came away.
There three reasons why I did not remain, but principal reason was that I did not want me to do so.
And so I came away and left him.
It is not the first time that a western has been treated with consideration only to be frowned upon frozen when he meets the saftey man inside York.

Homet Old Anaheim.
This is what the Los Angeles Porcupine of the 11th, itat., has to say about us:
How the good old town looms up in honest importance. Anaheim is the Anastardam of California. All is substantial. The Anaheim lives in a good house, unplastered with notes and mortgages. He wears good grain clothes, and he owes no store bills. He earns a good square meal three times a day, goes to bed early, and is about his work at early dawn. He drinks the best of wine of his own vintage. He has money in bank and never borrows. He is the most all-handed man in America and has not earned to brag of his great prosperity. He gives alaw but he has reached the haven general thrift and feels as contented and proud as a Dutch dairyman. There is no sham about the Anaheim. He is what he is and is willing for the world to take him at his general worth—is willing to be let alone. Little cares the highest Anaheim about bands of music and drama, beating the bush for hiblders on lot sales. He has his vineyard, and he makes it pay. He has his big trees and his olive, his orange and his pomegranate, his apples, peaches and pears, and is willing to keep them. He planted and tended them. He loves them. They are the crowning glory of his life of honest industry spent in his adopted Ana-home. He hates the sight of a speculative real estate agent with his axe, his pick, spade and scraper, and his avaricious eyes cast on the Anaheimer's orchard with longing desire to cut it up into lots 25x10. He

Mr. Interesse Day Gould and Inkeston in Some Island Nassau.
It had been ten long busy years since I had and Jay Dought until I did not see him yesterday in some the acquaintance but this man the happy past. The year of patient and earnest endeavor on my part, his name of philanthropy on his have him find away in the grim and greatly humiliated both of us have changed in that time, though day has changed more than I have. Perhaps that is because he has threw more in constant with change than I have.
Still, I had changed a good deal to these times, for when I called at Irvington you say Mr. Gould did not remember me. Neither the watchful but overtimed dog in the cross yard.
Carefully concealing the fact that I had any business relations with the press, I gave my card to the person who does cherish for Mr. Gould, and, apologizing for not having dropped in here, I took a seat in the spare room to wait for the great railroad magnate. "I believe that I have never bad the pleasure of meeting you before, sir," said the great railroad swallower and amateur philanthrostee, with a tinges of railroad irony.
"Yes, sir, we met some ten years ago," said lightly running my fingers over the keys of the piano in order to show him that I was constrained to the sight of a plane. "I was working in the rolling mill at Laramie city, Wyo., and you came to visit the mill which was then operated by the Union Pacific railroad company. You do not remember because I have purchased a different pair of trousers since I saw you, and the cane which I wear this season changes my whole appearance also. I remember you, however very much."
"Well, we grant all that, Mr. Nys, will you excuse me for asking you to what I am indebted for this call?"
"Well, Mr. Gould," said I rising to my full right and putting my soft hat on the brow of the Venus de Milo, after which I seated myself.
