The Limakilla Club. The secretary of the state board of health of Illinois wanted to know what progress, if any, the colored people of Michigan were making in sanitary matters. Brother Gardner said he would like a general discussion of the subject, and Sir Isaac Walpole asks to remark that he was making progress. Up to a year ago he didn't know that seven persons and a dog sleeping in the xx10 room with all the windows down and the doors closed was injurious to the human system. He supposed the feeling of langhorn was brought on by non-circulation of blood in the feet. Whalebone Howker had also progressed. He had now learned the difference between the smell of gunpowder and softer gas and the lives of his thirteen children were no longer in peril. Pickles Smith used to wash his feet once in six months. Now he felt conscience stricken if a week passed over his head that he didn't beat up a boiler of water and soak up his potsaule. His five dogs used to sleep in the house. Now they either made their beds in the doorway or stood up against the wood-shaded door. Judge Chewso had slept in a room with six other persons, a barrel of soft soap, three dogs, an old codfish and a limburger cheese, but he had progressed. He used to wake up in the morning and charge politicians with seeking to poison him, but now he realized that it was his ignorance of sanitary precautions. Several other members spoke in the same strain, and related civil personal experiences, and the president finally said: CALIFORNIA CAT-R-CURE Restores the sense of taste and small removes bad taste and unpleasant breath, resulting from Catarrh Easy and pleasant to use. An artist who have had difficulty in mounting drawing paper for coloring, especially the stiff papers, will find the following process very satisfactory: First, mount the paper thoroughly, then lay it upon the board in proper position and with blitting paper remove most of the moisture for a distance of about half an inch or barrambone from the edges; then take strips of not very thick manila paper about an inch and a half wide and covered on one side with mucklage, and paste them down on the board and on the paper, overlapping the edges of the latter about half an inch. Keep the middle of the sheet wet until the mucklage on the edges has set, then let the whole sheet dry out. Attractive Way to Serve Spinach. Where spinach is to be served as a dish by itself it looks well if arranged as follows. After washing, put it into enough salted boiling water to cover it. When cooked squares out all the water, press the spinach through a colander and then fry it a few minutes in a little butter and season with salts and pepper. Lay thin slices of buttered toast on a platter, and on each slice put a cupful of spinach nicely pressed into shape; into the top of each heap of spinach press the half of a hard boiled egg. Ornamental Bags for Various Uses. The prettiest bags for holding twine are made of inch wide satin ribbons of one color. Dorcas suggests the following way of making one: Overhand the ribbons together for a sufficient distance to cover the ball. Gather them close at the end designed for the bottom and fasten in a small curtain ring so as to allow the twine to be pulled out freely. At the top of the bag fold the ribbons over to form a little heaving above the shirr which confines the ball, leaving ends about one inch in depth, which are pointed and finished with a tiny gilt bell. Narrow ribbons are used to suspend the ball and also to hold a tiny pair of scissors ready to clip the twine at any moment. A silk handkerchief is also described as making one of the dantlest of work bags for holding crochet or knitting. One of pale blue or pink brocade is prettiest for the purpose. Lay the handkerchief out flat, turn over to the inside a small portion of each corner and hem each one down with silk to match. About two inches from the edge, all the way round, sew, as a casing, a ribbon half an inch wide, and through this run drawing strings of narrower ribbon of the same color. Trim the edge all round with a fine lace two or three inches wide. The work is placed in the middle and the strings drawn to gather the bag, thus making the lace ruffle at the top. A Deliceless Dessert for Pineapple. A delightful way to prepare a pineapple for dessert is the following: Soak half a package of gelatine for an hour or more in half a cupful of water.
