Respectfully yours, GOLDEN MEDICAL DISCOVERY CURES ALL HUMORS. Wedded by Degrees The Pittsburg Times says: A Polish wedding and honeymoon has just been celebrated on Josephine street, the contracting parties being Andren Starzinski and Miss Mary Seitzage. The ceremony, owing to its protracted nature and the wedding customs peculiar to the Polish people, attracted considerable attention in that section of the city. The bride is a pleasant little woman, and speaks English fluently; but the groom has not been in the country long enough to have full command of the language. They were married at the Polish Church by their priest, Father Myakavi, in the presence of a number of friends. After the formal ceremony the party repaired to the bride's home, where a reception was given which lasted three days. The wedding took place in the morning, and a new breakfast was served to the company at six clock, after which the dancing and merry making began, and was not allowed to stop or even flag until midnight. The company then dispersed to meet again at noon of the next day, and the same programme was executed from day to day until the marriage feast was ended. The bride and groom separated each night of the festivities, bidding every one good night, and only after the marriage feast is ended is the happy couple considered married. One of the unique features of the nuptial feast is the manner in which the bride receives her presents. Every gentleman present is expected to dance with her at least once, and as much offender as she chooses, and each time he asks her to assist him in the dance he must give her a handsome present or a sum of money; so if the tenor bride is good looking, amiable and a good dancer she cannot fail to realize a rich beehit from the feast. Mrs. Starzinski received over $150 in money, and her presents were both substantial and pretty. The dancing is of a wild, furious nature, in which any one but a thorough expert would be doubtlessly engaged for, when their best friends thoroughly would up and the dancers begin to gyrate in jane to the exciting music; they remind the onlooker of the twenties minutes by the most difficult move than a minute, who was completed. Taubehaus lost but three games; was a wonderful lingerie piece. The Union Democrat sustains the law and says: The enforcement of the ordinance is a blessing to this community, and a boon to parents who are unable to exercise control of their children. It has been a mighty occurrence to see gangs of boys unin eighteen years of age congregated on the sidewalk at all hours of the night, obstructing the thoroughfare and disturbing the peace. They have been known to visit saloons and engage in gambling and drinking, and frequent incidents in that of a most brave doctress practically and instantly. No other officers have begun this work of enforcing it; its intention to enforce without fear of favor, the benigned youth into a strict obedience of the curfew ordinance. The Rev. Charles Bixby, a native of Susquehanna, says that in Dutch Guiana preventive inoculation of snake poison has been practiced for centuries. A snake caught and teased until its poison glands are swollen with blood and actively secreting. The rep tile is then killed, its glands are extracted, dried and pulverized. An abrasion of the skin of the wrist (usually) is made, and some of this poison dust rubbed into the wound. It is stated that those who have been thus inoculated may be bitten with impunity. Mr. Buck, the Kentuckian, sent as Minister to Peru, has stirred that fashionable region to its centre by appearing at a State official dinner in a business suit. The dinner was given in his honor, and he was the only one who did not appear in evening dress. Mr. Buck honestly states in his own defence that he had not in his wardrobe such a thing as a swallow tail, so some of the Americans have formed a syndicate to supply him with a dress suit. The Right Honorable W. E. Forster of England committed a similar gamblerie at a dinner in his honor given at the Union League Club. The vines creep round and roses grow. Come sweet, and see, and say if you think house so small full large for two. Too small, no doubt there’s room in it. To look around and bide a bit; “To trouble a bit for hope to grow. There is not room for pride or show. There’s room for love and love’s increase; There’s room to bar out strife with peace. There’s room to give and take and share; The cares to come there’s room to bear. But none for envy, none to care What neighbors do or what they wear. “If no gay teams prance past our door, We’ll inward turn our thoughts the more; If each serves each, Love’s retinue Will make the service light and true. All space and life will crowded be With one sweet guest felicity; And narrow street will stretch away To hilltop whence the bright dawns stray.” Wonderful Chess Playing. [The store Stanton’s Paris Letter] The historical home of chess in Paris is the famous café de la regence in front of the Theater française. Of all Parisian cafes, the elegance has perhaps been the least affected by the changes of time. It is today much the same as it was more than 100 years ago when the Chess club, whose founders were Ayrton, the celebrated epirammatist, Rousseau, Iderot, and Ihudor, chose it as their headquarters. Just enough of the past, let us enter the cafe and see who are there to day. More than ordinary animation prevailed there on a certain evening not many days ago. Mr. Kieffer, the gentleman proprietor whom I met at the door, informed me that Professor Taubenhaus, the well-known player and instructor in chess, was about to give an exhibition of his remarkable skill and quickness of thought. Twenty six men were seated before as many chess boards, and Mr Taubenhaus, in evening dress, was passing rapidly from one table to the other, glancing for an instant at the pieces and making his moves with a celerity that was only surpassed by its acuteness. In the early stages of the game or rather games, Mr Taubenhaus made the rounds of the twenty six tables in eight minutes by the watch, and even the most difficult move never occupied more than a minute, while the whole exhibition was completed within three hours. Mr. Taubenhaus losing if I am not mistaken, but three games out of the twenty six. It was a wonderful sight to watch this. A Wonderful Freak of Economy. “My dear, you haven’t cut the leaves of the magazine I brought home last week.” “Fred, I haven’t time to read. See how I am getting along with my rick-rack.” “Yes, dear. You’ve worked steadily at it every evening this week, haven’t you?” “Yes.” “There’s about five yards of it, isn’t there!” “Yes.” “You can buy it in the store for about 2 cents a yard, can't you?” “Yes.” “那 would be 10 cents, wouldn’t it? I regard it as a wonderful freak of economy. The gas, the tax on your eyes, the superiority of rick-rack over a well-stored mind, the —” “Fred, you're just too mean for anything!” DELINQUENT Tax List In and For the TOWN or ANAHEIM. Piles are frequently preceded by a sense of weight in the back, loins and lower part of the abdomen, causing the patient to suppose he has some affection of the kidneys or neighboring organs. At times, symptoms of indigestion are present, flatulency, uneasiness of the stomach, etc. A moisture, like perspiration, producing a very disagreeable itching after getting warm is a common atendant. Blind, Bleeding and Itching Piles yield at once to the application of Dr. Bosanko's Pile Remedy, which acts directly upon the parts affected, absorbing the Tumors, allaying the intense itching, and effecting a permanent cure. England and Russia's War Footing. When an irre-istible body comes in contact with an immovable one the result is supposed to be something terrible. When England's reputation as aighter is considered and their russia's huge army, the largest in the world, is stood up alongside of it, the result of a war between these nations is looked upon with dread. Russia's regular army is the largest in the world, and her navy has more vessels than that of any other nation. The standing army of russia consists of 70,000 men and her navy of 863 vessels. Russia pays for the maintenance of her army $10,000,000 a year, a sum several millions greater than that paid by any other nation for this purpose. Great Britain's standing army is only 182,000 men against russia's 189,000, and her army, when on a war footing, is 2,000 against russia's $22,000, when on a war footing, england pays $9,000,000, a year for her army, against russia's $125,000,000. And yet great britain's army costs $2.37 for each head of her population, while russia's costs her only $1.25 per inhabitant. Even if Great Britain take into account her India contingents the army of british india is 150,000 and on a war footing 280,000 the total would be in either case less than half of russia's force. Russia has the largest standing army of the world—750,000. Italy comes next with 750,000. France next with 550,000. Germany next with 443,000. China next with 360,000. Austria and Hungary with 285,000. British India next with 159,000. Great Britain next with 182,000. Russia's navy has 373 vessels, that of France 302, Great Britain 246, though it is proper to add that Great Britain's navy cost about three times as much as that of Russia. An East Indian Legend. CONDITIONS. Ah East Indian Legend. [Psychological World] In East India there is a legend that ages ago mankind became so very bad that God determined to destroy all except just enough to begin with snow. The exceptions were preserved, along with pairs of all sorts animals, in a golden palace on a mountain top. A boy and girl, born of parents who were "neither good nor bad," had been previously carried off by an angel from their respective homes on the day of their birth, and were brought up in a crystal palace suspended in midair, where they were attended by a mute female figure of gold. When they grew up they were married and a girl was born to them. The destruction of the wicked having been effected by fire, and the earth thereby being greatly smarched, giants were sent to wash it clean. They used so much water that a eluge was produced and the water rose so high that the golden palace and its inmates were in danger of being submerged, but were miraculously preserved. Honesty the Best Policy. (Philadelphia Call) "Yes," said the Honest Farmer, "I know there are people what always puts the big apples at the top of the barl, but I don't." "That's right," exclaimed the deacon admiringly. "I have always tried to convince folks that sort o thing don’t pay in the long run." "If they d go to the city once in a while they’d learn something. I always put my big apples at the bottom of the barl." "That’s the way." "Yes, you see people has got so suspicious that they most always open the barl at the bottom nowadays."
