THE FASHIONS.
All Italian bonnet braids are of a deep yellow tint.
The fleur-de-lis is a favorite design upon cream-colored sateens.
A pretty new style of overskirt has the front laid in kilts, shortening toward the side.
Amber combs with mounted carved balls and necklaces of the same are very fashionable.
Parisian diamond buckles are extensively worn upon the dainty little Spanish sandals and Beatrice shoes.
Small shoulder capes are slashed open on the shoulders and trimmed with bows-of ribbons and long ends.
Esthetic coachmen and footmen wear button-hole bouquets of pale yellow jonquils and scarlet tulip blossoms.
TRUSTWORTHY ADVICE ABOUT FASHIONS.
"Is the gentleman who knows everything in?" stammered a vision of golden hair and sea-blue eyes, as she stood timidly beside the managing editor's desk yesterday afternoon.
"Everything about what?" asked the editor, clawing around under his desk for his shoes and trying to hide his stocking-feet under him. "Upon which particular branch do you seek for information?"
"I don't exactly know what to do," pouted the strawberry lips. "Pa says I can only have one dress this spring, and I don't know how to make it up. I thought the gentleman who answers questions could tell me."
"H'm!" muttered the managing editor. "He has gone up in Maine to find out why geese always walk in single file. An 'Anxious Inquirer' wants to know. What kind of a dress have you thought of getting?"
"That's what I want to know. I want something that will look well with terra cotta gloves."
"Yes, yes." murmured the editor. "Then you should get one of those green things with beads that turn all kinds of colors, and some fringe and fixings of that kind."
"Would you have it cut princess or wear it with a polonaise?" she inquired, looking at him searchingly.
"You—you might have it princess around the neck and a row of polonaise at the bottom," suggested the editor. "That’s going to be very fashionable, and a couple of hip-pockets would set it off royally."
"I don’t know," murmured the beauty. "I haven’t seen any of that style. Do you know whether panniers are worn bouffant this season, or whether the skirt is tight?"

Parisian diamond buckles are extensively worn upon the dainty little Spanish sandals and Beatrice shoes.
Small shoulder capes are slashed open on the shoulders and trimmed with bows of ribbons and long ends.
Esthetic coachmen and footmen wear button-hole bouquets of pale yellow jonquils and scarlet tulip blossoms.
Some of the new spring walking-coats of black velvet or satin have high flaring collars, closely covered with large jet beads.
The brims of the wide hats are trimmed with lace and ribbon, gracefully held by pins with ornamented heads, either of beads or gold.
Jackets of very narrow stripes are worn with black skirts in the streets by ladies fresh from London fogs. They are made tight and short.
Some of the new bonnets of lace straw are wonderfully delicate and airy, and are studded on the brims with mock ruby, pearl, opal, or large jet beads.
The new ficelle lace, which has suddenly become so popular, is made of cream white or pale yellow linen threads, and is used to garnish dresses and wraps as well as bonnets and round hats.
Dress skirts are wider, measuring two and two and one-half yards around the bottom, but the draperies are very bouffant, and crinoline and stiff muslin are placed under them over the skirt.
That damasse silks have lost their former glory is proved by the fact that merchants have placed quantities of very handsome patterns upon the "bargain counter," marked at a uniform price of $1 a yard.
The substitute for the basque with which economical ladies wear out their old dress skirts is the polonaise, with side drapery arranged in festoons, and the back drapery hanging nearly to the hem of the skirt.
A new cloak meant for summer use is composed of row upon row of lace covering cashmere cut in dolman shape. The only trimming is a graduated series of rows of fringe set in the center of the back and down the

"I don't know," murmured the beauty. "I haven't seen any of that style. Do you know whether panniers are worn bouffant this season, or whether the skirt is tight?"
"Oh, certainly!" replied the editor. "They are made with all the bouffants you can get on'em. Some have even sixteen button bouffants, and there was a lady in here yesterday that had a pannier that came clear up to her neck. I should have it pretty bouffant if it was my dress."
"Well," stammered the blushing blossom, "would you box-plait the skirt or shirr it?"
"Shirr it straight up and down, and fasten it with three loops of black tape."
"You mean frogs?" asked the beauty.
"No, no. These big loops that slip over two buttons. That sets off the shirrs and gives a sort of tout to the ensemble," and the editor leaned back and smiled superior.
"Don't you think revers of a lighter shade would look pretty?" she inquired.
"They'll do to fix up the back, but I wouldn't put them on the front," answered the editor, sagely. "Revers are very well to trim a hat with, but they don't set off a dress front."
"How would you have the corsage?"
"I wouldn't have any at all. You would look much better without one."
"Sir!" she exclaimed, rising.
"Oh, if you insist, you might have a small one, certainly not over three inches long, for short dresses are the style now."
"You—you don't seem to understand—" she commenced.
"Oh, don't I?" he retorted. "That's what I am here for. I think there is nothing so lamentable as to see a young lady dragging her corsage through the mud and dust. Still, if you want one, you could have it so you can take it off when you go on the street, and only wear it at home. They are hard to handle, and not one woman in a hundred can kick her corsage gracefully."

A new cloak meant for summer use is composed of row upon row of lace covering cashmere cut in dolman shape. The only trimming is a graduated series of rows of fringe set in the center of the back and down the front.
Handsome Biarritz gloves of very fine undressed kid, to be worn with full dress, have wide satin bands at the tops delicately embroidered in tiny clusters of rosebuds, or painted with a monogram or crest in gold or silver.
Medieval crosses are much worn by young ladies. They are carried suspended to a silver chain long enough to go around the neck, and then hang over the left shoulder, just as the Alsatian peasant girl wears her handkerchief.
The esthetic flowers—lilies and sunflowers—have been artistically reproduced for jewelry. The sunflower is made of gold, with a heart of very dark topas, while the lily is placed in silver, with a pearl to represent a dewdrop.
Horse-hair bustles appear in some of the new French dresses, but not in those of the best makers; and the fashion magazine chiefly representing the worst American dressmakers has brought out a series of plates in which all the figures wear hoopskirts.
"I—I am very much obliged to you," she murmured. "You are very good, I'm sure."
"Don't mention it," replied the editor, politely. "I think when you get it shirred and revered and polonaised and princessed you'll like it very much. You might get a sash and some big buttons to put on behind, or if you'd like to get another style better you might trim the whole front with bouffants, and wear the pannier for a hat."
"Oh, thank you, sir!" exclaimed the blushing bud as she scuttled down stairs.
"Swipes!" roared the managing editor, with a complacent smile and a glance of approval at himself in the glass. "Swipes, you may tell the foreman to send me a proof of the 'Fashion Notes' as soon as they come in. I have observed that a great many errors have crept in lately."—Brooklyn Eagle.

We know of hundreds of cases it has completely cured, and that where all other medicines had failed. No other remedy can show one-half as many permanent cures. Now to give you satisfactory proof that Dr. King's New Discovery will cure you of Asthma, Bronchitis, Hay Fever, Consumption, severe Coughs and Colds, Hoezeness, or any Throat or Lung Disease, if you will call at any Drug store you can get a trial bottle free of cost, or a regular size bottle for $1.00.
The Culture of Beauty.
Although nature alone can produce perfect beauty, art may, in a great measure supply nature's deficiencies. We see this instanced in the clearness and luster imparted to even a sallow skin by Gleek's SULPHUR SOAP. The lady of forty, who uses this beautifier, drops at least ten years of her age. Unlike the dangerous cosmetics which obstruct the pores, it is entirely harmless. See that "C. N. CRITTENTON, Proprietor," is printed on each packet, without which none is genuine. Sold by drug-gists and fancy goods dealers.
From Dr. C. C. Clark, Oswego, N.Y.
"I have made sufficient experiments of Colden's LIQUID BEEF Tonic to enable me to say it is by far the best of all the preparations of the kind (food and tonic) that I have ever used. To the sufferer from chronic diseases, or the convalescent, it is invaluable, being both nourishing and strengthening." (Remember the name, Colden's—take no other.) Of druggists.
