There are packages in Wells, Fargo & Co.'s office for Mrs. E. Boldt, J. J. Guinn, T. S. Grimshaw and H. A. Young.

A cider factory is in operation in Los Angeles, which will make a market for any surplus apples raised in the county.
A new stock of goods will be received by Mr. Hippolyte Cahen next week. See advertisement.
John McFadden, a Los Angeles police man, died suddenly of heart disease on Wednesday night while on duty.
The October session of the Supreme Court will convene in Los Angeles on the 12th instant.
A vigorous shock of earthquake was felt in Los Angeles on Sunday night. No damage was done except to weak nerves.
Mr. Frank Ey has sold out his business in Santa Ana and has again taken up his residence in Anaheim.
Ben James of Wilmington had his leg broken last week while crossing Crocker's Slough.
A camp meeting will begin on the 7th instant at Bixby Colony, two and one-half miles east of Wilmington.
A party of gentlemen went from Anaheim Landing to Catalina Island last week. The outward voyage consumed twenty hours, but the return trip was made in five hours.
The ladies of the Episcopal church, assisted by Prof. Finck, are arranging to produce the cantata of the Flower Queen about the first week in November.
The law says that male deer may be killed between November 1st and February 1st, but female deer and spotted fawns are protected until 1882.
We wish the people of Anaheim would take an interest in the coming Horticultural and Agricultural Fair in Los Angeles, and would bestir themselves to the end that a creditable exhibit of Anaheim’s products should be one of the features of the Fair. Whatever descriptive writing we do, whatever pains we take to disseminate information about this place, must, to be effective, be supplemented by our people whenever such opportunity is presented as is offered by this Fair. There will be thousands of people present who have read largely about Anaheim, and who will be on the qui vise for the sight of an exhibit of the productions they have read so much about. If they are disappointed, and fail to get any evidence of the truth of what they have read, the result will be injurious to our section. There is certain to be a large attendance, from the fact that President Hayes, General Sherman and other dignitaries will be present at least one day. There will also be correspondents of a number of Eastern papers, and we are creditably informed that every department of the Fair will be illustrated in a New York pictorial paper. Shall Anaheim be represented? It would pay to raise by subscription a sufficient sum to employ a man to collect the material for an exhibit and forward it to Los Angeles. If some one has the leisure to work the matter up, he could probably get enough money donated to pay him well for his trouble, and there is no doubt that our people would let him have material to exhibit, if he would take all the trouble from off their hands. All exhibits should be in place in the Pavilion on or before October 15th as the Fair opens on the 18th. The railroad will carry articles intended for exhibition free of charge, and the Express Company will carry free all packages weighing 20 pounds or less.
A large-sized row took place on last Sunday night in a Chinese store on First North street. While the proprietor, Sin Sam Lee, was counting some money (the store being full of Chinamen) the lights were blown out suddenly and he was stabbed in the back of the neck. In the confusion which ensued about thirty dollars in money was taken. Two Chinamen were arrested for the crime, but Justice Bailey discharged them as the proof was insufficient to convict. The wounded man was attended by Mrs. Dr. Higgins, and at last accounts was doing well.
Messrs. A. Guy Smith & Co. have received an order from San Mateo county for Anaheim Odessa wheat for seed. It is probable that orders for seed wheat will soon begin to come in numerously, and that the farmers in other counties will heed the advice given them by the Gazette some time ago and purchase seed here where they can receive a guarantee of its genuineness.
Mr. E. Dunham has returned from his San Diego trip. The rumor that he had leased the Horton House at that place and would remove thither is a mistake.
Mr. W. A. Morrison has returned from Bodie, where he has been during the summer. His future movements are undecided, but he will probably remain here after making a visit to relatives in San Bernardino.
Mr. M. Decker and family, of Artesia, left on Tuesday morning for New Mexico. They have decided upon no fixed place of destination, but will take up their abode wherever the prospect pleases.
By a copy of the Globe (A. T.) Chronicle which has reached us, we see that Mr. Chas. F. Taylor, formerly of the Planters' Hotel, has opened a news depot in Globe. Success attend him.
The Downey Courier says that during the late camp meeting of the Methodist church near Downey 79 persons were "sanctified" and 109 professed religion. There was a very large attendance throughout.
A private letter received in Los Angeles from Texas says that 8,000 men are at work on the Texas Pacific Railway, and that the management confidently expect to be at El Paso by January, 1882. Express.
Hon. W. G. Le Duc, Commissioner of Agriculture, has written to the Secretary of the Horticultural Society to say that he will be present at the Fair in Los Angeles, if he can possibly get away from Washington.
Mrs. Dennison, a widow living in Los Angeles, discovered a man trying to break into her house on Tuesday. She fired at him and he ran away, but was subsequently captured.
Rev. Mr. Packard, of Stockton, was obliged to decline the call extended to him by the Presbyterian church of Anaheim, as his engagement with his present congregation has some time to run yet.
The railroad company are building a depot, size 16x22 feet, at Orange station. It is said that the new depot, like all those which have lately been built by the company, will have some pretensions to architectural beauty.
The illness of Mr. and Mrs. Dreyfus child had a fatal ending, although when we went to press last week its recovery was considered almost certain. The parents have the sympathy of their friends in their bereavement.
It is a settled fact that the English iron ship Ekstale, now unloading coal at Wilmington, will take in a full cargo (2,000 tons) of wheat for Liverpool. This furnishes a fine outlet for the wheat surplus of this county. Express.
Superior Judge Sepulveda has been holding Court here for ten days past, and as on previous visits impresses everybody very favorably. We consider him one of the very ablest judges in California, and his record shows fewer reversals than that of any other. He has a life position in Los Angeles county.

Mr. Kinchin of San Diego finds it suddenly and he was stabbed in the back of the neck. In the confusion which ensued about thirty dollars in money was taken. Two Chinamen were arrested for the crime, but Justice Bailey discharged them as the proof was insufficient to convict. The wounded man was attended by Mrs. Dr. Higgins, and at last accounts was doing well.
Messrs. A. Guy Smith & Co. have received an order from San Matee county for Anaheim Odessa wheat for seed. It is probable that orders for seed wheat will soon begin to come in numerously, and that the farmers in other counties will be fed the advice given them by the Gazette some time ago and purchase seed here where they can receive a guarantee of its genuineness.
Three Los Angeles police officers attempted to arrest Jesus Moreno on charges of horse stealing. They saw him emerge from a house at 3 o'clock on Wednesday morning and commanded him to halt, but he drew a revolver and fired on the officers without hitting them. They returned the fire and he fell wounded, but sprang up instantly and escaped in the darkness.
The Rev. W. H. Hill of Los Angeles will hold services in the Episcopal Church to-morrow as follows: Morning Prayer—Sermon and Holy Communion at 11 A.M. Baptismal Service in the afternoon at 3 o'clock. Evening Prayer and Sermon at 7:30. All are cordially invited to attend.

The Beekesepers' convention, to be held in Los Angeles on the 20th and 21st of October, will be attended by apiarists from all parts of the State, and much good will undoubtedly accrue from the interchange of views and opinions which will follow the meeting of so many apiarists.
Mr. B. F. Senbert received by express from Arizona the other day a fine piece of silver-bearing quartz taken from a recently-found ledge in his mine in Globe District. Flakes of pure silver are plainly to be seen all over the specimen, and a ledge of such ore will make a Rothschild of the fortunate owner.
It is not generally known that the people of Riverside, San Bernardino county, procure a large proportion of the lumber used by them for building purposes from the lumber yard of A. Guy Smith & Co. in Anaheim. They can haul the lumber cheaper from here than they can send it by rail from Los Angeles to Colton and from thence to Riverside by team.
There is a tide of lack which seems to be setting in towards L. J. Rose with resistless volume. There is really no limit to it. Saturday saw him a father and a grandfather, both Mr. Rose and her daughter, Mrs. Wachtel, on the same day, giving birth to last obnoxious Nor was that all. On this same fateful Saturday "Sweetheart," one of Mr. Rose's colts, made the fastest mile on the Sacramento course ever churned of a two-year-old in the world—2:26h. — Herald.

HALL'S VEGETABLE SICILIAN HAIR RENEWER
Has been in constant use by the public for over twenty years, and is the best preparation ever invented for RESTORING GRAY HAIR TO ITS YOUTHPUL COLOR AND LIFE.
It supplies the natural food and color to the hair glances without staining the skin. It will increase and thicken the growth of the hair, prevent its blanching and falling off, and thus AVERT BALDNESS.
It causes Itching, Eruptions and Dandruff. As a MAJOR DRESSING it is very desirable, giving the hair a silken softness which all adores. It keeps the head clean, sweet and healthy.
