District Judge.... Y. Sepulveda County Judge.... A. M. Stephens H. M. Mitchell We received a letter last Thursday from D. R. M. Thompson, who left here some two months ago, accompanied by George Skidmore, with the view of engaging in the saddle and harness business in Arizona. They are now at Phoenix. Mr. Thompson gives a most disconcerting account of affairs in that Territory. He says that in his business there is nothing doing; a majority of the farmers will not pay expenses on their crops; while the glowing mining accounts which we have all been reading are greatly exaggerated. We shall publish the letter entire next week, at present only adding the warning of Mr. Thompson: "I don't write this to discourage any one from coming here, but my advice would be to look, and look well, before they jump." To our mind, nothing is more ill-founded than the "Arizona Fever," that is now raging in this section of California. Times are hard everywhere, and those who are "making the ends meet" had better stay where they are until times liven up, which we think will be in a short while. —Outlook. Judge Sepulveda received a dispatch from the New Constitution Party Convention, this morning, offering him the nomination of Associate Justice on the ticket of that body. The Judge telegraphed back that he was in the field here for Superior Judge, and declined to accept the nomination. —Express. SACRAMENTO, June 26. On the first ballot for Governor in the New Constitution Convention to-day, Dr. Glenn, of Colusa county, received 128 votes, J. V. Webster, of Alameda county, 115. Dr. Glenn was therefore declared the nominee for Governor. John P. West, of Los Angeles county, was nominated for Lieutenant-Governor by acclamation. SACRAMENTO, June 27. The Convention nominated J. F. Clark, of Alameda, for Surveyor-General; for Clerk of the Supreme Court, Edwin F. Smith, of Sacramento. The Convention has nominated for Superintendent of Public Instruction, A. L. Mann of San Francisco. D. S. Terry was placed in nomination for Chief Justice but declined in order to preserve harmony. In Convention he proposed Nathaniel Bennett, of San Francisco, who was nominated by acclamation. Recess was then taken. TOWN BOARD OF TRUSTEES B. P. Seibert, President; E. A. Saxton, F. A. We have hundreds of dollars invested in job printing material, and our facilities are such that we can afford to do every kind of printing at the shortest notice and lowest prices. — The Anaheim Literary Society adjourned last evening to meet on the first Friday in August. A number of the members desire to visit the various seaside and mountain resorts during July, and it was thought best to omit the usual meetings during that month. — Mr. J. Yoch, of St. Louis, and Col. Dunham will to-day proceed on a trip to the mining regions. They will inspect the Santa Clara coal mine and the Santa Rosa silver mines. As they go in the capacity of experts, they ought to receive the kindest sort of treatment from the denizens of the auriferous regions. — It cannot be too often impressed upon voters that, should they not re-register before the 1st day of August, they will lose their right to vote at the September election. Deputy County Clerks have been appointed in every township, whose business it is to place the names of legal voters on the register, without charge. Mr. Th. Rimpan is the Deputy for Anaheim township. — County Clerk Potts, who got back from an official visit to Newball yesterday, informs us that an artesian well is being sunk near the still of the refinery at that place and is now down about 150 feet. On Wednesday the augur struck a boulder or some other hard substance which retarded the boring, but as soon as it was pierced, water commenced to flow and when he left yesterday about an inch of water was flowing out of the pipe. Boring will be continued and it is expected, from present indications, that heavy and steady flow will be obtained. Mr Potts also informed us that a new oil well has been started in the Pico Canyon with every prospect of a good yield. — Herald. Consumption Is not an incurable malady. It is only necessary to have the right remedy, and HALL'S BALSAM is that remedy. Don't despair of relief, for this benign specific may cure you, even though professional aid fails. READ THE FOLLOWING: Dr. D. D. Wright, of Cincinnati, sends us the subjoined professional endorsement. "I have prescribed Hall's Balsam in a large number of cases, and always with success." He adds that "in one case a patient with every appearance of confirmed consumption, was restored to his usual health soon after commencing to take the Balsam." John Kuhn, of Lafayette, Ind., writes: "One year ago I was to all appearances in the last stages of consumption, and got so low your doctor said I could not live 24 hours." Mr. Kuhn further states that "after taking nine bottles of Hall's Balsam he is now in perfect health, having used no other medicine." The above brief extracts are taken from a MASS OF EVIDENCE which has been accumulating during a period of 29 years, proving the efficacy of Hall's Balsam in all cases where the breathing organs are affected, and showing the estimation in which the remedy is held by the public and the medical profession.
