DEATH OF PRINCE NAPOLEON,
London, June 20. Official accounts of the death of the Prince Imperial say: The Prince, with Lieut. Carey of the 98th Regiment, six men and one friendly Zulu, left camp at Kelitzi Mountain, seven miles beyond Blood river, the 1st instant, for reconnoissance. The party halted and unsaddled when ten miles from camp. Just as the Prince gave the order to remount, a volley was fired from an ambush in the long grass. Lieutenant Carey and four of the troopers returned to camp and reported that the Prince and two troopers were missing. At daybreak a cavalry patrol under General Marshal, left to search for the Prince, and went to Krools, ten miles further on. The body was discovered among the long grass, three hundred yards from Krools.
Following are additional accounts of the death of the Prince Imperial: There were eighteen assagai stabs in the body when found, two of them piercing the body from chest to back, two in the side and one destroying the right eye. A locket with hair, medallions and mementos, was found around his neck. The face wore a placid expression. He had evidently ineffectually tried to mount and the leather of the flap tearing, he ran along the path to the place where found.
Santa Barbara Press: If the people of this and Ventura counties will do their share, there is a chance now for us to obtain our much-talked of and longed-for railroad. A gentleman at present in Los Angeles, has stated that if the two counties would grade the road from Santa Barbara to Newhall, he would lay the track, put on the rolling stock and run the road. A railroad is what we need, and all the talk in the world will not accomplish anything for Santa Barbara until it is built. It is to be hoped that some one will take the matter in hand and push it through. Now is our opportunity; let us take advantage of it.
Mr. Grossman's business interests in Napa county will compel him to leave here next week, a circumstance we very much regret. He takes with him our best wishes for his future success.

The Los Angeles Guard have accepted
the invitation of the Anaheim Fire Company
to be present at the picnic on July 13th, and
will turn out in full force. Adjutant-General Walsh and Brigadier-General Murphy will also be present and review the Guards
at the picnic grounds.
It looks now as if the only two towns in the county to have a Fourth of July celebration will be Anaheim and Los Angeles. It is probable that matters can be so arranged that the people of the southern end of the county will congregate in Anaheim on that day and have a celebration worthy of the occasion.
It is said that for some weeks past religious services have been conducted in a big tent in Santa Ana by an Adventist preacher.
It is further said that he has succeeded in raising a first class sensation by maintaining that the end of the world is fixed for next month. No postponement on account of the

It is said that for some weeks past religious services have been conducted in a big tent in Santa Ana by an Adventist preacher. It is further said that he has succeeded in raising a first-class sensation by maintaining that the end of the world is fixed for next month. No postponement on account of the weather.
There is a general tumble in prices all along the line. The necessaries and luxuries of life are being sold cheaper in Anaheim than in any other part of the county—a fact which country people should make a note of. Among others who have made reductions is Mr. Hippolyte Cahen, whose advertisement we commend to the careful consideration of our readers.
By untoward delays in the foundry, the furnace intended for Silverado will not be ready until next Thursday. Mr. T. T. Hill goes up to Silverado to-day to commence the brick work, so as to have everything in readiness for the furnace upon its arrival on Saturday. Mr. Hill made a great number of tests yesterday with ore from Silverado, and the results were uniformly satisfactory.
The following items are from the Downey Outlook: About 10 o'clock last Wednesday evening, E. W. Hawkins was found lying senseless near the north-east corner of his place, his person being considerably bruised. He was found by a man who was passing by, who took him to the nearest house (that of Mr. Kootz), where he was restored to consciousness. Mr. Hawkins don't seem to know anything about the affair. It is supposed that he was knocked from his horse while out riding, by some one who was driven to the deed by feelings of revenge... Last Wednesday night some party, as yet unknown, effected an entrance, by removing a panel of the door, into the store of Speyer & Swigert, at Norwalk, and stole about $250 worth of clothing. The officers are carefully investigating the case, with some prospect of finding out the rogues.
