The marriage of Dr. John W. Jones to Miss Lizzie W. Rivers gives the editor of the Memphis Appeal an opportunity of making these few simple remarks: The chivalry of the gallant doctor has garlanded his chapel with the fairest and sweetest flower that blooms in the parterre of beauty, whose fragrance will impregnate with redolence every impulse of his generous heart. The brightest star that radiates the galaxy of fascinating women shines upon and illumines his pathway with her bland smile and alluring light, whose resplendent effulgence glowing with undimmed lustre each revolving season will pilot the ingenious victor of so estimable a prize to the haven of happiness. The life of the intrepid bride-groom is coronated with the richest and most beautiful jewel that gleams in the casket of love, whose diamond brilliancy will color with a more vernal hue the laurels wreathed around his brow, gleaned from his voyage down the stream of time. May joys and blessings as exquisite and hallowed as those engendered by a shower of roses scattered down by the hands of the Peri from the far-off gardens of Paradise crowd your wedded future and increase with the lapse of years. Banking House In the District Court yesterday the lowing proceeding was had: Thistlewaite vs. Taylor et al.—Motion to substitute attorneys passed by consent. Tuffree informs us that the feed on the Stearns’ Ranchos this year will be plentiful. The outlook for stock raisers is better this year than it has been for a long time. Work on the town well began on Tuesday, and late yesterday afternoon a depth of ninety-three feet had been reached. At that depth the formation was coarse gravel. Several large rocks have been taken from the well, one of them ten inches in length and about ten pounds in weight. In a proclamation issued from headquarters in San Francisco, Dennis Kearney is announced to speak in Los Angeles on the 18th inst., in Anaheim on the 19th, and in Julian, San Diego county, on the 20th. The geographical education of these political Mosses has been sadly neglected. Julian is one hundred and twenty miles from Anaheim, and the rocky road to Dublin isn’t a circumstance to the one over which it is necessary to drive to reach the city referred to. Mr. Kearney will have to change his programme. Besides, he must not ignore Santa Margarita, the citizens and town officials having combined to give him a grand ovation and aloha. Mr. Herman Cohn, Secretary of the Anaheim Fire Department, has received a proposition from a Chicago firm to sell a hand engine. They have on hand three engines, which they will guarantee to be as good as new. One can be bought for $450 and the others for $600 each—one-half the price of new engines of the same pattern. Mr. Bennerachmidt is going to San Francisco next week and will examine some second-hand engines in that city. The Fire Company at their next meeting will “wrastle” with the problem of how to get money enough together to purchase an engine, and it is to be hoped that they will be able to hit upon some plan whereby this great public necessity can be secured. KNARICATED Coughs, Colds, Pneumonia, Bronchitis, Asthma, Crops, Wheezing S cough, And all Diseases of the Breathing Organs HALL'S BALSAM IN THE LEADING SPECIFIC FOR CONSUMPTION. It soothes and heals the mothrane of the lungs, inflamed and poisoned by the disease, and fills them the night sweats and tightness across the chin, which accompany it. Consumption Is not an incurable malady. It is only necessary to have the right remedy, and HALL'S BALSAM is that remedy. Don't despair of relief, but this benign specific may cure you, even though professional aid fails. READ THE FOLLOWING: Dr. D. D. Wright, of Cincinnati, sends us the sub-journed professional endorsement. "I have prescribed Hall's Balsam in a large number of cases, and always with success." He adds that "In one case a patient with every appearance of confirmed consumption, was restored to his usual health soon after commencing to take the Balsam." John Kuhn, of Lafayette, Ind., writes: "One year ago I was to all appearances in the last stages of consumption, and got so low our doctor said I could not live 24 hours." Mr. Kuhn further states that "after taking nine bottles of Hall's Balsam he is now in perfect health, having used no other medicine." The above brief extracts are taken from a MASS OF EVIDENCE which has been accumulating during a period of 50 years, proving the efficacy of Hall's Balsam in all cases where the breathing organs are affected, and showing the estimation in which the remedy is held by the public and the medical profession.
