The Board of Trustees of the above named company held a meeting yesterday afternoon and elected the following officers: President, Dr. J. H. Yocum; Vice President, A. C. Taylor; Secretary, Wm. Gilbert; Treasurer, B. P. Seibert; Superintendent, W. E. Taylor. The capital stock of this company is $500,000, divided into fifty thousand shares at $10 per share. It is probable that the stock will be placed on the market at an early day. The injunction served upon this company, restraining them from working the mine, was yesterday dissolved because of the failure of Dunlap & Co., to file the bonds required by the Court. Unless other legal measures intervene, active work will at once be begun at the mine. It any evidence is needed to demonstrate that the road from Anaheim to the mines is the best and safest, it is furnished in the determination of the Florentine Company to ship all their ore by way of Anaheim. It is really the only road that is fit to travel—a fact which is now being fully recognized. As will be seen by the large advertisement which Messrs. Goodman & Rimpau have inserted in this issue, they offer great bargains during the rest of this month. We are authorized to say that the reduction in prices is bona fide, and not merely an advertising dodge to attract attention. It is needless to mention the fact that the stock of goods is in quality and quantity a first-class one; everyone knows this. The firm has made an enviable reputation in this regard, and intend in the future as in the past to carry a heavy and superior stock of goods. People from the country should not fail to visit Goodman & Rimpau's store when they come to Anaheim. Farmers will be particularly interested to learn that Messrs. Goodman & Rimpau will pay Cash for grain delivered at Anaheim railroad depot, Anaheim Landing, or at Santa Ana. The Board of Supervisors have instructed the Clerk to correspond with the school trustees throughout the county on the subject of a suitable person for the appointment of squirrel inspector for each district. No compensation to be received except for the purchase of poison. [FROM LAST SATURDAY'S SECOND EDITION.] Extra copies of the Weekly Gazette, issued this morning, for sale at this office. The Fire Company held a meeting for practice last evening. About 400 sacks of unthreshed grain were burned on the farm of Ivar A. Weid on Wednesday evening. Town Clerk Cahill informs us that the town assessment roll foots up $288,804. The tax levy has not been fixed. Twenty-five uniforms for the members of the Anaheim Fire Company have been ordered from San Francisco by Mr. J.Bennerscheldt. The Grand Jury, which has been in session all week, will probably not conclude its labors to-day. There are four Anaheimers on the jury. The San Bernardino Times says that four persons died at Yuma, Arizona, on Tuesday, from the heat. Mr.James Stewart, of the stage line, lost a fine team of colts after having been driven but ten miles in the intense heat. The brick work on the foundation of the new school house was completed last night. Stone Street tells us that the car come to Anaheim. Farmers will be particularly interested to learn that Messrs Goodman & Rimpau will pay Cash for grain delivered at Anaheim railroad depot, Anaheim Landing, or at Santa Ana. The Board of Supervisors have instructed the Clerk to correspond with the school trustees throughout the county on the subject of a suitable person for the appointment of squirrel inspector for each district. No compensation to be received except for the purchase of poison. The contract for carrying the daily mail between Yuma and San Diego has been entrusted to Gaskill Brothers, of Campo. About 100 miles of the road lies across the California desert. Across this stretch mails and passengers are to be carried by steam.Messrs.Gaskill are industrious inventors and have obtained a number of patents. One of their last inventions is a steam-wagon, designed more particularly for travelling overlevel and sandy roads.A working model has been made, which fully demonstrates the practical value of the invention. One of the brothers has just purchased a suitable engine and boiler, at San Francisco, of about two horse-power.The wagon will be made in their shop at CampoIt has two driving wheels of seven feet diameter and twelve inches width of tire. The whole apparatus will weigh about two thousand pounds, when supplied with fuel and water, and ready for business.it is intended to make an average speed of eight or ten miles per hour, carrying five or six persons and a moderate weight of baggage and mails It will consume about ten gallons of water per hourThere is plenty of fuel in the mesquit groves on the desert, and among the willows and cotton-woods on New River and the ColoradoOne man can manage the whole thing.Messrs.Gaskill propose to have the new machine making regular trips across the desert by October 1st.Their well known energy and enterprise makes it very certain that their expectations will be fully realized.Yuma Sentinel. Pittsburg, August 7.-The fast line on Pittaburg,Cincinnati and St.Louis Railroadwhich left this city at 11:47 last night, metwith a terrible accident at a point one and a half miles west of Mingo Junction,Ohio. The train was composed of two sleepers,一 hotel car,一 baggage car,二 postal cars, and two coaches. The latter were occupied by emigrants. At 1 A.M.at the point named, the fast line, which was about twenty minutes behind time, and running at the rate of forty miles an hour, collided with a freight train. The entire trainexceptthe hotel cars and sleepers, was thrown from the trackand fearfully wrecked. All the passengers in sleepers escaped without serious injury. The loss of life was confined to those in the forward cars, occupied by postal clerks and emigrants. The Cincinnati postal car was thrown over an embankment thirty feet high and completely demolished. The postal clerks,Frank D.Graham,A.W.Andrews and W.Johnsonwere killed;Geo.L.More- —The Grand Jury, which has been in session all week, will probably not conclude its labors to-day. There are four Anaheimers on the jury. —The San Bernardino Times says that four persons died at Yuma, Arizona, on Tuesday, from the heat. Mr. James Stewart, of the stage line, lost a fine team of colts after having been driven but ten miles in the intense heat. —The brick work on the foundation of the new school house was completed last night, and Mr. Stappenback tells us that the carpenter work will commence immediately. The ceremony of laying the corner stone will take place the week after next, at which time it is expected to have a gala day. —Messrs. Taylor and Wenger give notice warning all parties against purchasing the Thanksgiving mine, the most of which they claim to own. Mr. Taylor informs us that the Elith is, in his opinion, one of the finest mines in the district. He has twice commenced to work it, but on both occasions he ran afoul of poison oak, which abounds all through that region, and was made completely blind. —a conference was held yesterday between the Board of Trustees of the Anaheim Water Company and the officers of the Cajon Irrigating Company, but an adjournment was had without coming to any definite agreement. They will meet again this morning at 9 o'clock. The Cajon Company now ask $13,333 for a one-third interest in their ditch, instead of $10,000. They claim that the ditch will have cost them $40,000 when completed. Rev. E. W. Dale, of England, in his "Impressions of America," speaks with approval of the general practice of sending children to the public schools, instead of to private or parochial institutions, and says: "The presence in the common schools of a large number of children accustomed to the refinements of a pleasant and even luxurious home must have an influence on their less fortunate schoolfellows which it is not easy to estimate, and must greatly aid the work of the teacher."
