[FROM LAST SATURDAY'S SECOND EDITION]
The attention of the two C's (Carpenters and Capitalists) is directed to the advertisement of the School Trustees.
Professor Felix Adler, the leading teacher of the Liberal Religion Movement, is visiting Los Angeles.
At last it has been decided to have a picnic at Tivoli Garden on the Fourth of July. Advertisement to that effect appears elsewhere. Let there be a liberal and generous attendance.
The Magnolia Social Club have decided to reduce the price of tickets to the Calico Ball to be given on the Fourth of July to $150. This reduction in price, however, means no reduction in the extensive preparations that will be made to insure enjoyment to their guests.
A private dispatch from San Francisco informs us that Kearney has carried that city by a small majority. O'Donnell, the quack doctor, and the man who has frequently been indicted for abortion, ran behind his ticket. The other Kearney candidates are all doubtless elected. Among these is an old resident of Los Angeles, a printer, who went up to Sacramento last winter to work

Ball to be given on the Fourth of July to $150.
Among these is an old resident of Los Angeles, a printer, who went up to Sacramento last winter to work on the State work, James O'Sullivan. We heard him at the sand lots, and he was the most intelligent of all the candidates that addressed the crowd that day. But, unfortunately, there were but few O'Sullivans among the men running on the Kearney ticket.
Express, Friday evening.
From the Express we learn that on last Wednesday, at about 2 o'clock P.M., a fatal accident occurred on the farm of Hon. Asa Ellis, near Savannah. Mr. Ellis's son Charley had taken a horse by the halter to lead him to water, in the corral. While the animal was drinking the boy twisted the rope around his body. Presently a hog came along, Charley took off his cap and waved it at the hog. To scare the brute off. The gesture frightened the horse, which bounded off at great speed, with Charley attached to the rope. Although the family were quickly around, and rushed to his assistance, it was fully fifteen minutes before Mr. Ellis succeeded in cutting the rope, releasing the poor youth, in whom life was by that time altogether extinct. Charley Ellis was between fourteen and fifteen years old; and during the last session of the Legislature he was one of the pages of the Senate. He won many friends in Sacramento by his cleverness and amiable qualities. He was a youth of talent and energy, and gave promise of a useful and honorable manhood.
SAN FRANCISCO, June 21—It seems as though less is known about the results in the city at noon to day than at midnight last night. Register Kaplan's arrangements for obtaining the result are not working first-class, and it is still impossible to fix Kearney's majority. It is probably, however, not far from four thousand.

THE UNDERSIGNED OFFERS FOR SALE AT A Great Sacrifice!
THE Planters' Hotel! Property.
The lot is 180x140 feet, and is the best business location in the town. The Hotel was built in 1872, and has accommodations for sixty guests. The bar-room, billiard room, dining-room, etc., on the ground floor, are large, sized and finely fitted up. There is also on this lot, adjoining and forming part of this Hotel, a two-story brick building, built in 1876. The upper story is used for offices, bedrooms, etc., and the lower story is occupied by the Bank of Anabam at a good rental. About forty-five feet from the hotel (also on the lot) is a Livery Stable, having a splendid patronage. Either of these houses, with the ground on which it stands, will be sold separately if desired.
The above property will be sold at a great bargain. It presents one of the finest opportunities for business men or capitalists that could possibly be offered.
