The Gazette once was the scene of a shattered paper, caused by the eruption of an explosion on communicated through oral papers, and for that there would be no migration, which would leave the material with white matter. The Calentro stage-robber proves to be a former resident of Los Angeles, where he was known as Dick Fellows. He was sent from this county for five years for horse-scaling, but was pardoned out.
The press of other duties and the effect of his recent severe illness, has compelled Mr. French to place the lands on the San Joaquin Ranch, which have been offered for sale, into the hands of agents who will attend to their disposal.
Several novel carriages made their appearance in town yesterday, among which we noted the coach of the Planter's Hotel, whose chief attraction was its redness, and a green one-horse affair, whose chief attraction was the wonder it excited as to how in the blazes it hung together.

There was a terrible commotion in the milk trade yesterday afternoon, when Lum's yellow horse started up Lemon Street on a little frolic, got up principally for his own amusement. Milk cans and cans of milk were promiscuously distributed from Langenberger's corner to Lorenz' vineyard, and the horror-stricken proprietor of the festive steed stood at the corner revolving in his mind a weighty astronomical calculation—reckoning the value of the milky way.
An ugly looking son of some sunny elime has been amusing himself for the last day or two, prowling around dwelling houses, scaring the women and rendering himself generally obnoxious. He called at Mr. R. Barham's residence, yesterday afternoon, probably to see if our worthy Coustable was at home. He, unfortunately, found him very much at home, and got a couple of Dick's knuckles broken over his head, and the toe of a boot so forebly applied that he will prefer slitting on his stomach for a few days.
The following Railroad freight list was accidentally omitted yesterday: Miss C M Ward 2 cases hh goods, H Blanken 1 case cigar, H Soimmerfield 4 cases boots, C L Ellis 1 case, piano, Col W S Davils 21 cases hh goods, W M Bush 2 bbls liquor, S S W 22 cases groceries, R E Howitt 1 box apples, T J Heuesman 1 case cigars, Mrs C A Chase 2 cases midse, [P] 9 cases groceries, [B] 23 cases liquor, W C C 4 boxes groceries, D McConnell 3 pkgs midse, A Kell 1 pkge tables, C & W 10 barrels lime, Anderson & Co 10 cases coal oil, F & J Bachs 1 case varnish, Fritz Reuter 1 case liquor, D Nagle, 1 roll leather, A G Beebe 1 box midse, C Hille 7 boxes candy, A Langenberger 8 skis flour, H D Polhemus 2 cases midse, Robbs & Marks 3 boxes toys, A G Beebe 2 boxes candy, C & W 2 signs, W A Morrison 3 boxes hh goods P Davis & Bro 64 skis flour and meal, W L Tyler 124 bills shakes.

Very few passengers come in on the train last night.
The GAZETTE office last night was the scene of a short-lived commotion caused by the explosion of a lamp in the editorial room. The burning oil communicated the flames to several papers, and for a time it seemed that there would be a first-class configuration, which would not leave us with material with which to chronicle the event. The combined herdism of the reporter, pressman, compositor and devil succeeded in squelching the flames, without serious damage to anything but our sensitive nerves.
Our anxiety to get through with our reportorial duties early in the evening, so that we might attend the Fair and have an opportunity to gorge ourselves with ice-cream, sponge cake and female beauty, prevents us from giving a lengthy report of the entertainment. Up to the present writing, however, there has been a fair attendance, and we hope to be able to chronicle to-morrow that the treasury of the Church Building Committee has been swelled by the receipt of a handsome amount of coin of the realm.
The pomegranate is one of the most profitable fruits grown in this valley. The trees bear fruit in three years from the cuttings and will grow on the most ordinary soil without irrigation. The pomegranate is a delicious fruit and possesses medical qualities of great value. It will bear shipment better than any other fruit. It may be barreled up and sent around the globe in good order. The retail price of the pomegranate on the street is ten cents apiece, and General Stoheman informs us that he has a standing offer from a San Francisco firm to take all the pomegranates he can produce at five cents apiece.—Herald.

Santa Ana Times.
The people of Santa Ana console with their victimized friends of Anaheim and Tustin City, who were so menically flushed by that first-class fraud, named Campbell, from Sonoma county, and advise them in the future to adopt the policy of the people of Santa Ana when such "dead beats" put in an appearance—keep their hands on their wallets. Our new wagon and blacksmith establishment, "50x90 feet, two stories in height," makes a magnificent appearance—on paper.
Considerable sickness prevails on this side of the river at the present time. One of the most prolific causes of this condition of affairs, among the younger portion of the community, is the absence of fire from the schoolroom, which is as great a necessity in this country, at this time of the year, as in any State in the Union. If our worthy teacher, Mr. C.W. Brown, cannot be induced to follow the example of Mr., Furlong, of Orange,—discuss the school until fire is furnished—our advice to parents and guardians would be to withdraw their children from school until the rooms can be properly heated.
A regular Santa Ana wind is upon us to-day, which reminds us of a feion with which we became very familiar before we located at this point, and that was, that "Santa Anas" were peculiar only to this particular settlement. We were told in Los Angeles, Los Nietos, Anaheim and Orange, that this was a very fine country indeed, but it was subjected to hurricanes, which rendered it a very undesirable place in which to live! It is true that the "Santa Anas" are very disagreeable and annoying, but while this is so, it don't necessarily follow that they are confined exclusively to the town and settlement of Santa Ana. All of the above named places are subject to the same winds, Anaheim being in the center, or on a line with the center, of the mouth of the canyon from which they emerge. They are comparative-

Incontinence Remembrance Do not despair because your physician shakes his head. Professional opinions are not infallible; and they are never wider of the mark than when they pronounce rhoncus dysppepsis an incurable malady. To mitigate its pungue the faculty usually prescribe air exercise and brandy. The first two are God's medicines; the last is a Satanic poison.
