Never send articles for publication without giving the editor their name, for they name offenders secure public attention to worthless articles. When thou dost enter his office, take lice unto thyself that thou dost not look at what may concern thee not, for that is not meet in the sight of good breeding. Neither examine thou the proof sheet, for it is not ready to meet thine eye, thou mayst understand. Prefer thine own town paper to any other, subscribe for it immediately. Pay for it in advance, and it shall be well for thue and thine. IMPORTANT DECISION. Judge Morrison has rendered an important decision in the case of Chas. Green et al., vs. Daniel Meyer et al. Several similar actions are now pending, and the amount of money involved in transactions between the Grangers and Meyer approximate one million dollars. The evidence in the case shows that Morgan's Sons, through their agent Wolcott, received from the plaintiff in this case a lot of grain for shipment. The court decided that Morgan's Sons, through their agent Wolecott, had no right as factors to pledge as security for their individual debt to Meyer the goods of the principal, and ordered Judgment to be entered for plaintiff in the sum of $1,635 77, with legal interest from October 21st, 1874. A Curious Bill.—"One meets with many curious things in his journey through the bounds of this circumbular globe." I have met with many myself, but the most unique thing I remember seeing is the following curious bill, paid in the year 1182, by the officers of the Church of England, for repairs at the Winchester Cathedral. M. Tellier proposes to cover wicks with the sulphur, and to let them down into the burning portion of the vessel, through holes in the decks. Sixty-six pounds of sulphur ignited will entirely absorb the oxygen in 3,380 cubic feet of air; but as only half the oxygen need be removed in order to rend the atmosphere unfit to support the combustion, thirty-three pounds are sufficient for the volume mentioned. Says a Montana paper: Almond trees are in blossom in Southern California now. Blossom rock and whisky blossoms flourish in Montana in February, but our almonds won't bud for another month yet. One evening last week a materialized spirit that had been delighting an Eastern circle of the elect, got a frightful whack on the head from a cane in the hand of a muscular skeptic, and the next day there was pasted on the shutters of the officiating medium's store a bit of paper containing the following legend: "Closed on account of death in the family." A man in Belgium died recently, who, in Russia, had been employed as a diamond searcher in the mines. He managed to secrete a brilliant he had found, of great size and beauty, by cutting a slit in his neck and inserting the stone. When the skin had grown over the incision he applied to be allowed to return home, escaped the searchers, and reached Belgium, where he sold the stone for £12,000. Singularly enough the Emperor of Russia is now the owner of the stone, which he prizes greatly. The fortunate finder was very eccentric, and always dressed in green—bright green of a light color.
