ODDS AND ENDS.
Eighty-two and a half inches of snow has fallen in Maine this winter.
“It’s aye raining in Greenock” has become a proverbial saying. During last year in that pluvial Scotch town, rain fell on no less than 252 days out of 364, the total depth being 86.15 inches, the largest rainfall on record even in that rainy district.

Washington, April 28.—No public scandal has caused so much excitement since the Credit Mobilier development as the suspension of the Vienna Commissioners. The friends of the Assistant Commissioners have besieged the State Department. From Administration sources it is learned that the matter was discussed at a Cabinet meeting before the President went to the West, and a degree of shame and indignation exists in the Cabinet such as no other disclosure, dishonesty or corruption has ever produced.

Modoc News.
Lava Bed, April 24.—With the exception of occasional shots, everything is quiet since the 17th. The cavalry and Warm Spring Indians made an eight-mile scout, but found no enemy.
To-night Donald McKay, the leader of the Warm Spring Indian scouts, reports that he has discovered that the Modocs are still in their new stronghold, two and a half miles north. He crawled upon them and saw about forty warriors. Preparations are being made for the attack. Artillerymen are loading shells, and everything is being put in readiness for moving to-night. The troops will deploy as skirmishers and surround them, after which shelling will follow to force them from the caves and crevices, so that they can be picked off by the dismounted men. During the last fight the Modocs used the guns which they captured on the 15th of January, but, not understanding them, invariably overshot their mark, which accounts for the small loss to the troops.
There are strong and well grounded fears of a general border war. It was attempted to divide Umatilla and Lapway reservations last Fall. The Umatillas, Nez Perces, Pen d'Oreilles and other tribes refused the proposition, saying that they would fight first. This and other causes at this time may bring on a general uprising of these tribes, numbering in all nearly fifteen hundred.

A cure Cure for Dyspopia!
A most Efficient and Pleasant Tonic.
Those Bitters are prepared from the most oily and wholesome herbs and roots, and have given universal satisfaction wherever tried. Thousands of dysportics have found rolls through their use, and physicians recommend them for the cure of all diseases of the blood and liver, and irregularities of the digestive organs.
Healing, Billionness, and Constipation. General Dulcitum and Loss of Appetite, are all caused by the derangement of the Stomach, Liver and other functionaries of the system. The I.N.L. bitters have been successfully used as they warranted to alleviate the sufferer in all the above cases.
The I.N.L. Bitters are sold only in glass; to sell other than the genuine article out of our bottles being felled, and we will, when detected, present such parties to the full extent of the law.
CERTIFICATES.
Missouri H. Powers & Co.
Officially take pleasure in stating that you are ready to your wish I have carefully tested and examined the sample of your I.N.L. Bitters, which you sent me and find it not only an agreeable bitters, but also one that cannot fail to be benched as a tonic and promoter of digestion.
G. HOLLAND, M.D.
City and County Hospital,
San Francisco, June 20th, 1871.
I have carefully examined Dr. Henley's I.N.L. Bitters and have failed to detect anything which could even the most delicate condition.
From the composition of the Bitters, as far as I can determine it I should judge that the I.N.L. Bitters must be a very efficient remedy in Hypoglycaemia, Loss of Appetite and similar complaints, being composed of a number of vegetable drugs which are principally used in diseases of that nature, and are of the greatest efficacy in their cure.
P. H. ENGLES, M.D.
No Person can take these Bitters according to directions, and remain long unwell, provided their bones are not destroyed by mineral poison or other means, and vital organs wasted beyond the point of repair.
Dry pains or Indigestion, Headache, Pain in the Shoulders, Coughes, Tightness of the Chest, Dizziness, Sour Eruptions of the Stomach, Rats Taste in the Mouth, Billions Attacks, Palpation of the Heart, Infammation of the Lungs, Pain in the region of the Kidneys, and a hundred other painful symptoms are the offspring of Dry pepita. One bottle will prove a better guarantee of its merits than a lengthy advertisement.
For Female Complaints, in young or old, married or single, at the dawn of womanhood, or the turn of life, these Tonic Bitters display so decided an influence that improvement is soon perceptible.
For Inflammatory and Chronic Rheumatism and Gout, Fibonis, Remittent and intermittent Feveres, Diseases of the Blood, Liver, Kidneys and Bladder, these Bitters have no equal. Such Diseases are caused by Vitilated Skin.
They are a gentle Purgative as well as a Tonic, possessing the merit of acting as a powerful agent in relieving Congestion or Infusion of the Liver and Virucular Organes, and in Billious Diseases.
For Skin Diseases, Eruptions, Tetter, Salt-Rheum, Biotches, Spots, Pimples, Pustules, Boils, Carouncles, Ring-worms, Scald-head, Sore Eyes, Erysipelas, Itch, Scrurs, Discolorations of the Skin Humors and Diseases of the Skin of whatever name
