The quantity of wheat exported from California during the season of 1872-73 is stated at ten million centals, valued, in round numbers, at fifteen and a half millions of dollars. The coming crop will largely exceed that of last year, and the surplus for export, it is expected, will be enormous.
A man in Illinois committed suicide by drowning, lately, in six inches of water. He couldn't have done it alone, but his wife, with that self-sacrificing devotion and helpfulness so characteristic of the sex sat on his head.
A man from the country, whose wife had eloped and carried off the feather bed, was in search of them, not that he cared anything about his wife, "but the feathers," said

Something practical at last. Miss Collins of Boston, is going to establish in that city a school for the education of housekeepers. The land wires and sea cables have now been extended so as to cover nearly three-fourths of the circumference of the globe. Were a cable laid under the Pacific, the circuit would be complete. Telegrams can now be sent from Hong Kong, by way of India and England, to San Francisco, and it was only within a short time that a telegram, leaving Hong Kong Tuesday morning, was received in New York Tuesday night, whence it could have been sent in a few minutes to San Francisco had that city been its destination.

Special Notice.
IT IS A WELL KNOWN FACT that dyspepsia and indigestion are the causes of nearly all the diseases that the human body is heir to; then why pay enormous doctor's bills? By using Mr. Henley's celebrated IXL Bitters they can be thoroughly eradicated from the system and new life imparted to the sufferer. Read physician's certificates in advertisement in another column.

A most Efficient and Pleasant Tonic.
Those Bitters are prepared from the most choice and wholesome herbs and roots, and have given universal satisfaction wherever tried. Thousands of dyspeptics have found relief through their use, and physicians recommend them for the cure of all diseases of the blood and liver, and irregularities of the digestive organs.
Headache, Billiousness, and Constipation. General Debility and Loss of Appetite, are all caused by the derangement of the Stomach, Liver and other functionaries of the system. The IX L bitters have been successfully used and are warranted to alleviate the sufferer in all the above cases.
The IX L Bitters are sold only in glass; to sell other than the genuine article out of our bottles is felony, and we will, when detected, prosecute such parties to the full extent of the law.
CERTIFICATES.
MORTS H. EINSTEIN & Co.
Gentlemen, I take pleasure in stating that agreeably to your wish I have carefully tested and examined the sample of your IX L Bitters, which you sent me, and find it not only an agreeable Bitters, but also one that cannot fail to be beneficial as a tonic and promoter of Digestion.
G. HOLLAND, M.D.
CITY AND COUNTY HOSPITAL
San Francisco, June 20th, 1871.
I have carefully examined Dr. Hertley's IX L Bitters, and have failed to detect anything which could lure even the most delicate constitution. From the composition of the Bitters, as far as I am able to determine it, I should judge that the IX L Bitters must be a very efficient remedy in Dyspepsia, Indigestion, Loss of Appetite and similar complaints, being composed of a number of vegetable drugs which are principally used in diseases of that nature, and are of the greatest efficacy in their cure.
F. H. ENGLES, M.D.
Ass't Res. Physician Apothecary C. & C Hospital,
STATE ASSAYER'S OFFICE.
No Person can take these Bitters according to directions, and remain long unwell, provided their bones are not destroyed by mineral poison or ether means, and vital organs wasted beyond the point of repair.
Dyspepsia or Indigestion, Headache, Pain in the Shoulders, Conga, Tightness of the Chest, Dizziness, Sour Eructations of the Stomach, Bad Taste in the Mouth, Bilious Attacks, Palpitation of the Heart, Inflammation of the Lungs, Pain in the region of the Kidneys, and a hundred other painful symptoms, are the offsprings of Dyspepsia. One bottle will prove a better guarantee of its merits than a lengthy advertisement.
For Female Complaints, in young or old, married or single, at the dawn of womanhood, or the turn of life, these Topic Bitters display so decided an influence that improvement is soon perceptible.
For Inflammatory and Chronic Rheumatism and Gout, Bilious Remittent and Intermittent Feveres, Diseases of the Blood, Liver, Kidneys and Bladder, these Bitters have no equal. Such Diseases are caused by Vitilated Blood.
They are a gentle Purgative as well as a Tonicle, possessing the merit of acting as a powerful agent in relieving Congestion or Infammation of the Liver and Vascular Organs, and in Billious Diseases.
For Skin Diseases, Eruptions, Tettor, Salt-Rheum, Blotches, Spots, Pimples, Pustules, Bolls, Cardioules, Ring-worms, Scall-Head, Sore Eyes, Erysipelas, Itch, Scruts, Discofurations of the Skin, Humors and Diseases of the Skin of whatever name or nature, are literally dug up and carried out of the system in a short time by the use of these Bitters.
Grateful Thousands proclaim Vinegar Bitters the most wonderful Invigorant that ever sustained the sinking system.
