Building Associations.—There are over three hundred building and loan associations in the city of Philadelphia alone, while almost every borough and village has from one to four. From this single fact it will be seen what influence they have socially and pecuniarily throughout the vast amount of funds that life provides villages, towns and cities, and giving the workingmen their own homes. A most important consideration for the welfare of the whole country. They beget habits of economy, and show that those whose come is amongst the least, can save something for a rainy day, and that for about what they pay for rent, it put into these association, are paying for houses for themselves and making them their own landlords. Mount Holly has five such associations, in a flourishing condition, and their effect for good is plainly manifest.
