SATURDAY JUNE 15, 1872
LOCAL INTELLIGENCE.
With Gallery — We saw something the other day, at Los Alamitos Ranch, which we think would somewhat surprise the good people away down south. It was wild celery—a whole pond full of it—and grown to such a prodigious size that one walk measured over eight feet in height, and two inches in diameter, two feet above ground. It is good to eat at the proper season, but is now too old and woody. It has the same taste, and smell of the same article, and is a favorite food of wild ducks, which dock there in great numbers to eat it. Mr. D. Lyon, lease of the ranch, proposes to bank up and blanch some of it another season, and see if it cannot be made in good form as it is now for the birds.
The Marionic Ball — This will be the finest ball of the season and every one desiring to attend will do well to apply early as the number of tickets is limited. The purpose to which the funds are to be applied is one of general welfare—the building of the fine new hall, now in process of construction, and it is hoped that every member and friend of the Order will lend a hand to make the undertaking a financial success. Tickets may be had of any of the Committee Members Public.

Special Meeting A. F. Company.
A special meeting of the Anaheim Fire Company No. 1, was held at their office, at Enterpriso Hall, on Monday evening, June 4th, 1872, for the purpose of taking steps for the celebration of the Anniversary of American Independence.

The purpose to which the funds are to be applied is one of general welfare, the building of the fine new hall, now in process of construction, and this hoped that every member and friend of the Order will lend a hand to make the undertaking a financial success. Tickets may be had of any of the Committee, Mosers Pullen, Sweetser, Korn, Wiley, Goldstein, White and Athearn.
A Wealthy Committee—The Star remarks upon the wealth represented by some of the members of the Los Angeles Railroad Committee of Thirty, but fails to mention Mr. W. R. Olden, of this city who as the representative of the Los Angeles & San Bernardino Land Co., probably excels in the matter of wealth, all the balance of the committee. Something near $1,500,000 would be about the figure.
Offensive Persona—A very indelicate allusion to a most estimable lady of this city appeared in yesterday's Star. We cannot think that friend Buster would have written it himself, but he would do well to immediately kick out of his office any employee who is so much of a blackguard as to have been guilty of it.
Correction. Our advertisement of Roe & Garden erroneously locates them "Adjoining the Blue Wing Saloon." This was the old stand but the place is now 52 Main st., where a fine large stock of hats, Yankee notions etc., may be found.
Back Again. It gives us pleasure to notice that Mr. B. N. White, the former courteous and popular Agent of the Lighter Co. has returned to his old position, and is making it lively for the big books in the office at the Landing.
The New Well. The well being bored for Mr. Goldsworthy, of Westminster, was down over 80 feet on Thursday. Water already rises above the surface, but the workmen are going lower for a
