ANAHEIM GAZETTE. SATURDAY, JULY 8, 1871 Tustin City. A member of the Iowa Assembly has resigned his seat, sold his property and is about to start for California to accept the very liberal offer of Mr. C. Tustin at Tustin City. The gentleman has seven children, and will consequently be entitled to a whole block. He writes that he will bring several other families along with him. The new School House, will be completed in about three weeks. Mr. Tustin informs us that it will be dedicated by a ball and picnic on the Saturday following its completion, and will be preached in the following Sunday. An organ has been sent for, to be used for church purposes. A squadron of Anaheim grasshoppers are rusticating at Santa Ana, and are as fat, ragged and saucy as ever. They are only on a visit and will be back to Anaheim in a few days. INSURANCE ADJUSTED.—Mr. George D. CENTURY PLANTS - Seifor Don Juan Forster, has upon his ranch, five significant specimens of century plants that are now full bloom very large and rare to see in all three gardens along distance, with the flowers that lock a portion of their tested ranch. Those Sheep - We are informed that the sheep belonging to Woods & Athene and Ned Polhomus, are now grazing in the Laguna valley about thirty miles southeast of the San Rafael mines. Water and grass are abundant, and the sent us in the next Legislature at this question should be decided must secure representation in that pledged to work for our measure it is high time for us to unite up practicable plan of action. It is worse than useles to waste time and opportunities in tirades against our opponents, or in prolix argument upon those already convinced. Approaching election, we hold all of power that can be used effectively we act in concert. This question will have prompt in the Campaign, and it is unworthy cause to hide it behind other issues ever important they may be, and to gain our object by trickery and furtrage. EDITOR GAZETTE: There is nothing so omnipotent in this age of "Brass" as "cheek"-impudence. For the very sublimity of cheek commend me to the self-constituted people's candidates Major Max Strobel. In the last issue of the People Advocate the doughty Major defines his position, and explains his reasons for making a departure from the established usages of Democracy." He starts out by asking the support of every voter, irrespective of party in the coming election. Then he labors through a whole column to convince his supporters that he is still a good Democrat—none of your new departures," but a Simon pure dyed in the wool, twenty year old Democrat. But amelie the Democratic party of Los Angeles is held in bondage by men who utterly disregard the first grand principle of (self-styled) Democracy—a division of the public spoils. These men will not divide the public plunder, and the Major is not strong enough in his party to force these "bloated aristocrats" to disgorge. But if you 'black Republicans,' 'Radicals,' and 'nigger-worshipers' will only help me Max Strobel self constituted Peoples candidate to the assembly I'll convince you that I am a good Democrat by voting for a Democrat to the U.S. Senate." Isn't there an affrontery about this that is really refreshing? We Republicans are asked to support a man upon the sole issue that he wants an office that his own party will Next Legislature at which should be decided. We representation in that body, ask for our measures; and for us to unite upon a man useles to waste our utilities in tirades against or in prolix arguments ready convinced. In the action, we hold a balance can be used effectively, inert.
