ANAHEIM GAZETTE. SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 1871. Emperor William's Regalia. The regalia of the German Empire, long kept in the Holbourg at Vienna, will probably be used during the approaching coronation of King William as Emperor of Germany. First in order is the crown, which measures just one foot in height, and which is of 24 and 21 carat gold, beset with pearls and various other gems. To keep it from pressing disagreeably close to the bead of the royal wearer, it is provided with a red velvet cap, or lining, which is worn inside of it. The sceptre, which is of silver, gilt, is two feet long. The point terminates in an acorn, around which are clustered four oak leaves, two of them being bent downward, while the other two are inclined upward. Next is the Reichs-apfel—this is what the Prussian eagle holds in its talons. It is a hollow ball of the finest gold, about a hand’s space in diameter, being 3¼ inches across. This is encircled by two rings, the one perpendicular and the other horizontal. The first mentioned is half covered with jewels, while the ring which is placed horizontally is entirely covered with them. On the top of the ball is set a cross, also covered with gems. A man stopping his paper, wrote to the editor: "I think folks oftent to spend their munney fur payper, mi daddy didn’t and everybody sed he was the intelligentest man in the country, and had the smartest family of boiz that ever dug tatur." An eccentric citizen of St. Louis died recently, and left in his will $1,000 to a man who, ten years before had run away with his wife. One of the latest thing he said was that he never forgot a favor. An eccentric citizen of St. Louis died recently, and left in his will $1,000 to a man who, ten years before had run away with his wife. One of the latest thing he said was that he never forgot a favor. A few nights since a man in this city struck another with a sodawater bottle, and now he says he is afraid the man is going to die, just to get him into a scrape, as he always did have a grudge against him. There are some men just mean enough to do that. "Mother," said a four year old, "what season of the year was it when Adam and Eve were in the garden of Eden?" "I don't know, my dear, unless it was Summer—a perpetual Summer." "Oh no mamma, it must have been in the Fall, for you know apples were ripe." It is said that Mr. Greeley is so addicted to agriculture that whenever he is asked a question he invariably says "bay" before he answers to any great extent. The poorest use man can put time and talent to is to waste them in chasing a lie in order that he may find out who told it. A New Yorker was informed just before his marriage that his wife had fallen heir to $300,000, but he let the ceremony go on just the same. Transportation. The N. P. T.
