MAXWELL COUPE MAKES MARKED APPEAL TO BUSINESS MEN The new series Maxwell coupe which has attracted so much attention since it was first shown here by Turbo & Lawsdon, gives promise of being the closed car sensation of the year. Mr. Lemsdon, manager of sales for the company, Maxwell distributors, calls special attention to the fact that the Maxwell coupe makes a marked appeal to business and professional men who desire comfortable and economical transportation about the city, to the country club and on similar trips. But it seems also destined to be a favorite of women who like a coupe for shopping, social calls and other runs about town. The coupe seats four with real comfort, the extra folding seat facing forward and shipping out of sight when not in use. The driving mechanism is so placed that it handles easily and comfortably, the clutch action being especially easy. There is an extra package compartment at the rear of the driving seat and plenty of space under the rear deck for carrying luggage on longer trips. "There is probably no test of the real value of an automobile today so strong as that of re-purchase," said Lemsdon. "From the moment that a man or woman buys a car and his or her name becomes public property through the publication of state registration lists automobile salesmen set out to win them over to the cars which they are selling. Frequently those sale men await a few months or a year in order to give the car owner an opportunity to find out the weak points in the car they have selected. It is because of this and the large percentage of Maxwell repeat orders that we know and feel that the average Maxwell owner is thoroughly satisfied with his car and that he is getting the income of service out of his car." Redondo Beach Police Take 100-Gallon Still REDONDO BEACH, Dec. 24.—Local police officers today raided the home of G. The raid was the result of several reports made to the officers that Japanese with trucks were visiting the house under mysterious circumstances. Officers Peterson, Goddard and Chief of Police J. V.
