Santa Claus Visits Mexican School Here The Christmas celebration for the Mexican school children of Anaheim was held yesterday afternoon at the school. The committee in charge of the affair attended to the decorations and Christmas tree in the morning and while busy with the work they were visited by many of the interested Mexican parents and children. At 2 o'clock Santa Claus entered with his pack full of candles and nuts and gifts for the Mexican children. A program was given for the benefit of the guests. The Fremont orchestra gave several numbers followed by recitations by one of the members of the Fremont school. The next numbers were songs by the Mexican school members entitled "New America" and "Holy Night." After the program, apples were given to everyone present. Two bats and three balls were presented to the school for the children to remember this Christmas. At the suggestion of city superintendent of schools, a canary was purchased for the school and the room having the largest attendance for the week is to be awarded the care of the bird for the following week. This is done in order to stimulate good attendance by these foreign speaking peoples. During the entire program the Mexican guests kept good order and showed their appreciation of the affair by many thankings. The committee in charge were: Mrs. Austin, Mrs. G. H. Goodale, Mrs. Niver and they were assisted by Miss Price and Miss E. Kuehl, community nurse workers. Mrs. Jayne, who has charge of the community shop, was also present to help entertain. The gifts and apples were purchased by money donated by the townspeople. The fifty dollars, which was uncalled for during The Herald contest, was used for this purpose. Fashions For Americans New Wants Today NOTICE CHRISTMAS USED CAR SALE Big reduction on any used car purchased before January 1. A new ruling of the income tax law has made this sale of used cars possible. All losses on used cars must be taken this year to be charged off, as they have to be invoiced at cost, and not market value. FRANKLIN DEMI-COUPE That popular new model. This car is new, with the exception of a little use as demonstrator. A saving of $635 over new car. FRANKLIN 9-A ROADSTER Late model, excellent condition, had very little use, a rare opportunity to get the most economical car in America. Save $275 if purchased before January 1. FRANKLIN 9-B TOURING CAR One of the best used Franklins we have ever had the opportunity of selling. This car is in the process of reconditioning—come at once and see the parts you should see when purchasing a used car. '19 CHEVROLET $490 New battery and tires, full of pep. Think of it—$315. '20 CLEVELAND ROADSTER So near new that the license has not yet been issued. Save $530 over new car. '20 ESSEX TOURING A shame to class it with the used cars. I'll leave it to you. Save $580 over new car. LOOK THEM OVER SEEING IS BELIEVING BOB WHITE CO. Phone 548 135 South Lemon street, Anaheim, Cal. C. C. Fashions For Americans The coat dress continues to be a Popular Style. THE coat dress of heavy fabric is particularly smart and practical for mid-winter wear. The sketch offers a suggestion for such a costume. It may be made of black velvet and trimmed with suede in contrasting color, the fabric and color scheme being carried out also in the modish tam, or it may be made of velour, duvetyn, or other heavy wool fabric in a two-color combination. The matching scarf is detachable, so that when a fur coat or fabric wrap is worn over the frock, or when a fur neck piece is preferred, the fabric scarf may be taken off. It may be made of black velvet and trimmed with suede in contrasting color, the fabric and color scheme being carried out also in the modish tam, or it may be made of velour, duvetyn, or other heavy wool fabric in a two color combination. The matching scarf is detachable, so that when a fur coat or fabric wrap is worn over the frock, or when a fur neck piece is preferred, the fabric scarf may be taken off. The coat dress and the three-piece costume have vied with each other for honors this season. For dressy wear both have an advantage over the two-piece suit. The coat dress may be handsome enough for any afternoon tea or for restaurant wear, and it may be worn without a wrap if the weather permits, or be covered by a cloth or fur coat when necessary. The three-piece suit grows more popular each season. One very handsome three-piece model recently seen was of maroon broadcloth, a fabric very much favored this season, trimmed with gray chenille embroidery and banded in flying squirrel. Another was of wood brown broadcloth trimmed in henna embroidery, and with the coat lined in henna colored crepe de chine. A smart three-piece costume made of navy duvetyn was trimmed with ciel blue embroidery and pipings. The three-piece costume promises to be an early spring favorite, quite a number of these styles having been developed for southern resort wear. One recently seen featured a frock with a very low waist line, topped by a square cut, thirty-inch long coat, which was fastened at the neck only. The material used was dahlia colored duvetyn, with touches of embroidery in black as the trimming. Chicago produces more band and orchestral instruments than any other city in the Union. Sulphite turpentine gas given off when wood is boiled in paper making is used in making TNT. Farmers in the United States have an investment of more than $2,000,000,000 in tractors, motor trucks and passenger automobiles. Almost any pretty girl can bring out the silliness in a man's nature. REAL ORANGE GROVES Nine acres bearing Valencias in splendid condition and good crop. All piped and good house, close in location. A most desirable property at the figure and $15,000 cash will handle. Balance on terms most convenient to you. Ten acres 8-year Valencias, piped and cheap water. Owner must sell and will take part trade, part cash for his equity.
