Westinghous ELECTRIC WARE FOR THE HOUSEHOLD The Line with a Service HOLLAND ELECTRIC CO. 119 North Los Angeles St. News Notes of the Oil Fields LONG BEACH California-Mexican Petroleum Syndicate's first well at Long Beach is now on the production list and is averaging 500 barrels daily. The new well is flowing quietly and steadily and promises to be a consistent producer. On the west side of the Hill across the road from the Shell Company's Horsch the Syndicate is rigging up for its second well, to be known as Lewis No. 1. Drilling will start in a few days. The Crest Oil Company's No. 1 down 2972 feet is held up with a pipe swedging job. The 6 inch string seems to have gone bad near the bottom of the hole and no progress can be expected to be made until the pipe is straightened out. Crest No. 2 at 1875 is in sticky blue shale. Both wells of the Dabney Oil Syndicate stand idle. It is understood that drilling will not be resumed until production is developed somewhere near one or the other of the wells. No. 1 quit drilling at 3877. The Fischer Oil Company is about to have a clean well again. Steady progress is being made in cutting off the lost drill pipe and left handing it out. Fischer had drilled to 3150 when the twist off came. The General Petroleum's Bixby No. 1, no wdrilling at 3800 feet, is one of the deepest wells drilling in the east side of the field. The formation shows hard sandy shale. Black-Drake No. 1 over on the west side is making hole at 2050 and going nicely. The National Crude successfully shut off water at 3,100 and is now rigging up and running in the 4 inch drill pipe to enter the oil sand. The Petroleum Midway has an extensive program for Signal Hill. Brown No. 1 is building rig, Griswold No. 1 is building rig, and Rosenfield No. 1 is ready to rig up. In addition to these three new ones the Petroleum Midway has Ellis No. 1 standing cemented at 2,679, and 500 feet of hole made at McDavid No. 1. The water shutoff on the Oceanic at 2330 is not to be determined. and is showing just enough to lend encouragement. Merchants Petroleum No. 2, now drilling at 3000 feet, is in brown shale and starting to show some strong colors. Merchants Petroleum No. 3, drilling under Keck's directions is at 1000 feet and in sandy shale. The Chanslef-Canfield Midway Oil Company has four wells under way in the Richfield district. Bradford No. 3 is testing out for water 3908. Bradford No. 4 at 3165 is in hard sand, showing oil colors. Bradford No. 6 at 1365 is in hard sand. Richfield No. 3 is drilling at 2600. The Pacific Oil Fields Ltd., a company organized a year and a half ago, is spudding in and starting to drill at Richfield. About 300 feet of hole drilled will be cased off with twenty inch stovepipe. While reaming down and putting the hole in readiness for the production string and making a test the pipe stuck in the Petroleum Midway's Richfield-Yorba and to date resists all efforts ta loosen or to get up or down. The situation looks kind of bad. Drilled to 3805 feet the well has showed up rather good at times and the Petroleum Midway is anxious to get in the screen pipe and make a real production test. Standing plugged from 4214 to 4160 the Richfield Giant awaits orders. There is reason to believe now that the Richfield Giant will go deeper. OUR POLICY: ONE PRICE TO EVERY-BODY CO. Incorporated STORES LIFORNIA The National Crude successfully shut off water at 3,100 and is now rigging up and running in the 4 inch drill pipe to enter the oil sand. 1. The water shutoff on the Oceanic at 3320 is yet to be determined. Continuous bailing for several days has failed to decide the matter. It will be necessary now to wash out and make further water tests. The Ramsey-Municipal well No. 1 is now a steady producer at 400 barrels. This well stands as a credit to the work of the Federal Drilling Company. Good time was made in the drilling, a water shutoff was gotten the first time, and the well brought in clean and in the best of condition. The Standard Oil Company's Alamitos No. 1 at 2818 is held up with a bad fishing job. Engine trouble allowed the drill pipe to stand in the hole 15 minutes; that 15 minutes stuck the pipe and now it looks like move the rig. Bixby No. 2 is grading for a location, Farnsworth No. 1 is drilling at 2400, Lomita at 1000 feet, and L. B. T. & S. at 2200, Pacific Ranch No. 1 is making hole at 2145 and is going very good. Sylvester No. 1 is at 2600. Milling on iron holds the Torrance test well at 4485. The Shell Company of California started work this week on three new wells. The new work started gives the Shell Company a total of 22 wells under way. The new wells are Andrews No. 1, Bixby No. 1, and Cherry Hill No. 1. Rigs for these three wells are now going up. On the Alamitos lease No. 2 is drilling in the oil sand at 3267, No. 3 has a fishing job at 3496, and No. 4 set 621 feet of 15 inch. Babb-Tucker 3132 feet deep is cleaning out at 2900. Church No. 1 set 1750 feet of 12 1-2. Foster No. 1 is rigging up, Goddard No. 1 set 2634 feet of 10 inch, Jones No. 1 stands cemented at 2956. Hutton No. 1 set 1693 feet of 12 1-2 and is rigging up for cable tools Martin No. 1 is replacing the burned rig. Nesa No. 1 got under way for 2935 feet and struck another fishing job. Pickler at 2384 is also fishing Stakemiller cemented at 2048 and is rigging up for cable tools. Wilber No. 1 set 8 inch at 2461 and landed a heaving plug. Paton-Wilson No. 1 is at 1700 in hard shale. The Shell Company just recently leased three properties on Willow avenue, the development of which will greatly extend the west limits of the Long Beach field. BIXBY HILLS The Bixby Ranch Syndicate drilled to 4675, plugged back to 4300 feet in an effort to shut off bottom water. The National Security set a string of 8 inch at 3093 feet, drilled on to Stakemiller cemented at 3048 and is rigging up for cable tools. Wilber No. 1 set 8 inch at 2461 and landed a heaving plug. The National Security set a string of 8 inch at 3093 feet, drilled on to 3155 and is now carrying a string of six inch pipe. The Owners' Oil Producing Company, formerly the Orange County Petroleum Company, represents the combined interests of a number of the Los Angeles laundries. Drilling resumes on this well at 1700 feet. Drilling at close to 4200 feet the National Exploration Company's Olindo well is in brown shae and showing very little indications of oil. Chino No.'1 recovered from the fishing job and is drilling at 1825. BREA-FULLERTON Fishing has occupied a week for the Federal Drilling Company on the Dolke-Thomas Syndicate No. 1. A twist off at 2120 resulted in a difficult fishing job. The Columbia Oil Producing Company drilling Olinda No. 34 at 4200 feet has found no oil. Like other deep test wells in the Olinda field the Columbia well will probably turn out a "duster," Puente 1-A, another deep test well in the heart of the old Puente field, is at 1345 in a very hard sand. The Fullerton Oil Company spudded in and is now drilling on No. 17 at about 500 feet. No. 16, a recent completion at 4200 feet, is making 300 barrels. The Chansler-Canfield Midway's No. 94 at Olinda now drilling at 3675, looks good for two hundred barrels. Wells in this vicinity have been producing for more than a quarter of a century. RICHFIELD The Amalgamated Oil Company speeded up the drilling on Kammerer No. 1, and this week's log shows 2500 feet. Thompson No. 1, a recent completion at 3052 is a disappointment. Coming in at 400 barrels it dropped to 150. Breen No. 2 is testing for water at 3000, and Bayha No. 1 at 2500. At almost 4300 feet the United Oil Company's Clark well is making hole Friday, December 16, 1921. Balboa Pavilion Dance Hall Saturday Night . .
