HUNTINGTON BEACH
The Amalgamated Oil Company has purchased 51 per cent of the controlling interest in the Miley-Keck Oil Company. All wells drilling by the Miley-Keck Company pass into the hands of the Amalgamated. The Miley-Keck Oil Company as a company goes out of existence. E. J. Miley and W. M. Keck dissolved interests a few weeks ago and Miley is to organize soon the Royal Oil Company to take care of his interests. Keck as an operator retires and hence forth will be giving his entire time and attention to contract drilling.
Amalgamated development work at Huntington Beach this week includes Dennison No. 1, rigging up, Fowler No. 3, drilling in the shale at 3450, Huntington No. 6 at 3675 in hard shale, Huntington No. 7, rigging up, and Pierce No. 1, building rig.
Drilling at 2500 feet and with 90 feet more to go before setting the 10 inch the Argonaut Oil Company will soon have its third producing well, Johnston No. 1. Turley No. 1 shows 3000 feet and is in sandy shale.
The Bolsa Chica Oil Corporation has abandoned the idea of getting a shut off at 2100 and drilled on to 2365. At this depth a rather good looking first zone sand was struck and the 8 inch will probably be set soon.
Edens Syndicate No. 1 is drilling out the cement at 2362 and will be making a water test tomorrow. This well will be on production before Christmas if all goes good.
The interest of the north side of the field now centers in the outcome of the Eddystone's deep Huff well, drilled to 4367 feet. The cementing was done at 4361 and with a shut off the drilling into the oil sands will be watched with great interest. The production of Davenport No. 1 fell off to 200 barrels. Davenport No. 2 is drilling out the cement at 2615, and No. 3 is rigging up the rotary. Ashton No. 3 drilled out the cement at 3746 and is testing for water.
At 3980 the formation in the General Petroleum's Community No. 1 is a hard shell. The best that the well has ever shown is a little gas and a few colors. The impression was gained today that the General Petroleum will abandon this well soon.

was done at 4361 and with a shut off of the drilling into the oil sands will be watched with great interest.
The Gypay Syndicate is rigging up to drill out the cement at 2300 feet and drill into production well No. 3. No. 1 continues to make about 200, and No. 2 makes 250 barrels daily.
The Holly Oil Company failed to get a water shut off at 3414 and went deeper. Drilling is now at 3500 feet, formation brown shale and streaks of sand.
Drilling on the Huntington Midway Crude has resumed. It is the intention now to set the eight inch at 2275 and shut off all top waer. Additional capital has been secured for the Huntington Midway.
Huntington Union No. 1 (McIntyre) no wdrilling at 3855 is in sandy shale and showing some very encouraging colors.
Jameson at No. 1 is trying something different to rid his well of sand. The Putnam Pneumatic Lift has been installed. As the well thus far is making no gas an air compressor is furnishing the lifting force. The device has been in operation for four days and is doing excellent work in removing the sand. The sand and oil come out together relieving all work of pulling rods and tubing and cleaning out the well. The Jameson well is making about 160 barrels of 16 gravity oil. Other companies are watching the work of the Pneumatic Lift with the sand and if it accomplishes all that it is claimed to do and seems to be doing there will be a big demand for the appliance in the Huntington Beach field.
Splendid time is being made on Machris Bros. No. 2 well. Two weeks ago this well that now shows 2000 feet of hole spudded in and started drilling. No. 1 continues to produce at 325 barrels.
The Metcalf-Hinkley Oil Company resumed work on their No. 1, drilled out the cement and now a water test is being made. This well stood idle for about five months.
On account of the excellent showings the Miller Syndicate made prior to cementing the drilling out and testing for water are being watched with a lot of interest. Balling today seemed to indicate that the water was shut off. Production is expected at 3800 feet.
E. J. Miley's No. 2, completed at 2706 feet, has all the indications and ear marks of being a greater well than the famous No. 1 that did more for Huntington Beach than any other well drilled in the field. Preparations are being made to bring in the big well and it should be flowing some street.

WANTE
On account of the excellent showings the Miller Syndicate made prior to cementing the drilling out and testing for water are being watched with a lot of interest. Bailling today seemed to indicate that the water was shut off. Production is expected at 3800 feet.
E. J. Miley's No. 2, completed at 2706 feet, has all the indications and ear marks of being a greater well than the famous No. 1 that did more for Huntington Beach than any other well drilled in the field. Preparations are being made to bring in the big well and it should be flowing somewhere around 800 or 1000 barrels tomorrow.
The status of the Miley-Keck wills is as follows: No. 1 at 2590 is rigging up to go ahead with the rotary. No. 2 at 2950 feet is making only 25 bars. No. 3 is a rig. No. 4 at 3 continues to produce 26.5 gravity oil at the rate of 450 barrels daily. No. 5 is rigging up. No. 6 is to be redrilled. No. 7 failed to shut water at 3600 and was recemented. No. 8 stands cemented at 2965, ten inch.
O'Donnell No. 1 now at 3675 and drilling in the oil sand for more than 100 feet, looks like a big well. It is the intention to drill on to 3700 and set the 6 inch perforated at that depth. Drilled by the Federal Drilling Company, this well stands for a record in speed and careful work.
Continued bailing and cleaning out for ten days has failed to put Pantages-Huntington No. 1 back on production. Just why this famous old well will not start producing again is a mystery. About everything has been done to make the well produce.
Petitfills Syndicate No. 1 completed at 2715 has made several flus production runs that made it look like a real well, but the sand continues to come in such quantity now that the well is not able to make much of a showing. No. 1 set 1814 feet of 12 l-2 and is standing. No. 3 at 2267 is fishing.
The Petroleum Company (Mosier Special) has abandoned fishing for lost drill pipe at Brown No. 1 and is rigging up to go in with cable tools and sidetrack pipe at 4030 feet.
The Petroleum Midway added 100 barrels to Huntington Beach production by getting Smythe No. 1 and Columbia 2-1 back on. Smythe No. 1 bailed for two weeks in the hope that it would flow. Columbia 2-1 at 3400 feet is making only 50 barrels, but this production is clean oil showing no water. Columbia 2-2 spudded in Vollmer-Meyer No. 1 drilled to 3450, is being swabbed to bring in. Smythe No. 2 at 2700 is in shale.
FOR SALE—One frame garage and wash house, also two pairs wooden sliding doors and one heavy oak front door with beveled plate glass. Call 333J.
