Society - Clubs Social HOTEL SOCIAL SEASON OPENS IN PASADENA First of the formal openings of the Pasadena hotels, marking the real beginning of the brilliant Pasadena social season, came last night when Hotel Maryland had its formal opening. This hostelry has been in operation throughout the season, but its social galeties began with last night's gathering which was marked by a dinner-dance, followed by a brilliant ball in the lounge. LOARA SCHOOL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM The Christmas program of the Loara school was held this afternoon in the school auditorium at West Ana-heim. A large Christmas tree, decorated with tinsel and candles and loaded with candies and toys stood in the corner of the room. Santa Claus was present and after giving a short talk to the kiddies he gave them a box of candy. A program was held with the different grades, presenting plays and musical numbers. The teachers in charge of the festivities were: Mrs. Ella Page Seward, principal; Mrs. Stanley, Mrs. Joe Elliott and Miss Young. After the program, the school and visitors adjourned to the high school to enjoy the bazaar and vaudeville. THURSDAY PINOCLE CLUB MET LAST NIGHT Mrs. M. E. Canby entertained the Thursday Evening Pinocchie Club with a delicious 6:30 o'clock dinner and card party last night. Mrs. Ralph Maas and Harry T. Hathaway received high scores. Those present were Mrs. Dawson, guest of Mrs. Riley, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Prince, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Maas, Mr. and Mrs. Harry, T. Hathaway, S. S. Conklin, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Sidnam and Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Riley. BIBLE CLASS TO ELECT OFFICERS Members of the White Temple Men's Bible class are asked to attend the meeting Sunday morning at which time the regular election of officers will be held. Arrangements for the part in the Christmas program will be discussed. After the usual diversion was enjoyed light refreshments were served. The guests present were: Mrs. Lewis Edwardson, Mrs. Lars Edwardson, Mrs. Arthur Edwards, Mrs. John Hete. MASTER JACK ERICKSON HONORED GUEST Master Jack Erickson was the honor guest at a birthday party given yesterday afternoon by his mother, Mrs. Al Erickson. The rooms for the occasion were decorated in keeping with the Christmas season. A large birthday cake, with seven candles on it, was in the center of the table and dainty Christmas favors marked the places of the kiddies. Games, indoor and outdoor, were played. The guests were: Jack Erickson, Bernice and Harry Kroeger, William and Raymond Nowatny, Roland Schnidler, Melvin Randall, Thomas and Clara Fisher, Robert and Genevieve Dickensen, Dorothy and Pauline Nenno, Roland and Helen Goethsch of Orange, Lila May Narrah, Marjorie Erickson, Elmer Thill and Ross Brownfield. MRS. J. N. SACKETT ENTERTAINS CLUB The Thursday Evening Five Hundred Club members were guests last night of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Sackett. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Dodds and Mr. Sackett. After the games a dainty two course luncheon was served. The guests were Mrs. Stock, Mr. A Valle, Mr. and Mrs. Dodds of Whittier, Mr. and Mrs. B. CARROLL RETURN FROM HONEYMOON Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carroll have just returned from a honeymoon spent at San Francisco. Mrs. Carroll will be remembered as Miss Rose Churchill, nurse at the Anaheim Sanitarium. Her marriage in Riverside, December 6, was a surprise to her friends. Mr. Carroll is a successful rancher of West Anaheim, and has been a resident of this city for many years.
