The blouse shown in the sketch, made of crepe de chine in a toreador red, which is, in fact, a bright scarlet, is trimmed with peasant embroidery in various colors, with black predomination, and caught at the neck with a little bow of half-inch wide black velvet ribbon. The blouse is a slip-over model, and while it is merely waist length, it may be classed with the over-the-skirt blouses, as it ties over the band of the skirt with a self-fabric sash belt. The neck arrangement is particularly smart. Unfortunately this type of neck line is not becoming to every woman, but for those who can wear it it is distinctly chic. Black serves as a trimming for very many of the bright-colored blouses one smart model recently seen, made of scarlet Canton crepe, being finished at the neck with a jabot of accordion-pleated black chiffon set a trifle to one side. The blouse was quite simple; a tailored style, in fact, with a collar designed to be worn high about the neck or open, according to preference. The sleeves fitted the arms rather closely to a point just below the elbow, where a full puff of the black chiffon was set in, held in at the wrist with a band cuff. Black jet embroidery and jet fringing trimmed a blouse of bright blue Canton crepe, and a rust-colored geometric blouse was trimmed with glitter beads. Paisley effects continue to be very popular. It seems to be the fact, howev- that apart from twins, these res- blances are not dependent on any rela- tionship nor always on a com- nationality. Gladstone's double was certain Austrian statesman who w once mistaken for Gladstone by a par son in the town of Darlington. The person was a great admirer of G- stone and attempted to express to double the admiration he felt. His overtures were rejected w marked rudeness and when some who had watched the scene rem- strated with the Austrian, who did love Gladstone, he replied with satisfaction: "I hope I have depr Mr. Gladstone of one admirer." STEWART, 236 West Center Street Phone 738 BREA NEWS James Peterson, Leonard Stokes, Lloyd Stewart and Peter Smith of Brea and Miss Viola Cook of Anaheim were guests at a birthday party given in honor of Clifford Hulse in Los Angeles Tuesday evening. At the beautiful ranch home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Dolores Eseverri of La Habra, Miss Madelene Sansinena was united in marriage yesterday to G. L. Lindauer, son of Luther Lindauer, millionaire paper man, formerly of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, but now residing in La Habra. The ceremony was witnessed only by the immediate families of the couple. Soon after the marriage the happy couple left on an extensive honeymoon, in which they will tour Europe for several months after visiting relatives and friends in the east. The bride, who is a native daughter of La Habra, is a member of one of the pioneer families of the valley. Mr. Lindauer, who since his arrival in Southern California with his parents from Wisconsin, has made his home in Los Angeles and La Habra. He is the owner of a 70-acre ranch on the state highway north of La Habra, where he expects to erect as soon as possible a fine home for his bride. To the list of doubles in public life may be added one of the most curious of all, the case of Lord Arlie of the 70s, whose likeness to Sir George Campbell was so great that people were always mistaking one for the other. On one occasion, for instance, Joseph Chamberlain was at a dinner party at which he thought he saw Sir George Campbell, with whom he was on familiar terms, and he went and hailed him in a "friendly but disrespectful fashion." Fortunately Lord Arlie took it pretty well and merely remarked "It is not my good fortune to be Sir George Campbell."
