J., reporting a receivership and later involuntary bankruptcy for the Willys Corporation, have created the erroneous impression that this action would affect the financial standing of the Willys-Overland Company, according to A. H. Sitton, distributor for northern Orange county. "The Willys Corporation is a sort of holding corporation controlling a number of the varied manufacturing interests owned by J. N. Willys," said Sitton. "It has no connection whatever with the automobile manufacturing firm, aside from the fact that it probably does not some of the common stock of our company. Since Walter P. Chrysler took over the direct management of Willys-Overland a year ago, he company has been building up its assets month by month, until now we are in an enviable condition, with orders booked for six or eight months ahead, and an organization operating at a good margin of profit." Giving Ride to Woman Costs Motorist $204 LOS ANGELES, Dec. 3.—Giving a ride to Mrs. Kathryn J. Chute and later having an accident, in which the passenger suffered injuries, cost H. P. Krohn $204, according to a verdict returned yesterday in Judge Hewitt's court in favor of the plaintiff, Mrs. Chute. The testimony differed as to whether Mrs. Chute asked for the ride or whether Krohn stopped and offered to give her a lift. She charged Krohn with negligence and that he disregarded the signals of the traffic officer at the crossing of Hollywood boulevard and Cabuenga avenue, where the accident occurred. Move In Venice For City Manager Started Venice, Cal., Dec. 3.—Venice politicians were startled yesterday when they learned that a campaign had been launched for a city manager in the beach city. The "opening gun" in the movement was a statement made by Herbert Hertel, vice president and manager of the Venice branch of the Ocean Park bank, in which he advocated that Venice citizens consider the proposal. Behind his statement, WIRELESS CONCERTS FURNISH MUSIC FOR RILEY'S AUTO SHOW Harry D. Riley is not only putting on a whole automobile show with his big line of Studebakers, but he is throwing in a concert each afternoon and evening. This is one of the most unique and entertaining concerts that has been "pulled off" in the city in many years. A. Beveillard, of the Williard service station, who is the Orange county agent for a line of wireless telephone apparatus, is the genius behind the concert. By the aid of his apparatus, any person in the room can hear the music from Los Angeles as distinctly as though the artist were in the room. These concerts will take place today and from 4 to 5 o'clock and in the evening from 8 to 9. The music is transmitted by special radio apparatus and is furnished by musicians on the roof of the Hamburger department store in Los Angeles. Mr. Beveillard is prepared to place this wireless apparatus in houses at prices ranging from $100 up. With the wireless apparatus, six hours of music will be furnished each day. The concert and the automobile display is drawing good crowds. The display of automobiles includes the latest designs, especially enclosed cars, many new and beautiful bodies tastefully designed and mounted on the famous Studebaker chassis. The "opening gun" in the movement was a statement made by Herbert Hertel, vice president and manager of the Venice branch of the Ocean Park bank, in which he advocated that Venice citizens consider the proposal. Behind his statement, the politicians see a plan for concerted action to install a city manager and are wondering what the outcome of the campaign will be. BUENA PARK NOTES Mrs. Clyde E. NEW LAUNDRY BUILDING IS MONUMENT TO THRIFT OF MEN The thrift which, added to hard work, is so essential to success is the motif of the display in the window of the Golden State National Bank this week. An example is made of the new Anaheim Laundry Company building, which is now in process of construction. An architect's drawing of the building as it will appear when completed occupies a position in the center of the group. At each side, lending the atmosphere of this particular enterprise, are neatly laundered stocks of linens and stitty starched collars. On a placard is given the information that the new laundry building is the result of work and saving by the three Nicholas brothers since 1910. This addition to their plant and open evidence of financial progress is referred to as a monument to thrift. A further tie-up to idea of saving is made by the display of a number of small savings banks. The entire display is the result of this bank's desire to make every citizen realize that financial success to be permanent must be attendant upon thrift and that a definite part, no matter how small, of every salary should be saved. DE VAUX BOASTS ABOUT PERFORMANCE OF OLDSMOBILE The Oldsmobile is a car that does not have to take a back seat for any of them when it comes to beauty of design, ease of operation, comfort and general utility, according to J. J. De Vaux, local agent. "The Oldsmobile stands out preeminently as a car built along fine lines, that will attract attention in any company and yet a car that is sold at a moderate price, a price that a man who desires a really good car that will stand up for a long time, can afford to buy." And both the original price and cost of operation are surprisingly low." ARTHUR MAY KEEPS HIS HAT ON NOW The officers of the may Motor Company are not taking their hats off to any dealers along motor rows since the arrival of the new 1922 Nash Six. It certainly is a beautiful car and Arthur May, the general head of the company, in this city, displays pardonable pride in showing the car and enumerating its many good points. The new model is hailed as the "Greater Nash Six." It has a straight line body, perfected valve-in-head motor, Delco electrical equipment and a wonderful new type of springs. It is a new standard of value and sells for $1,825, delivered in Orange County, with freight and war tax paid. Mr. May reports the sale of nine Nash cars since Thanksgiving day, as follows: Four-cylinder coupe to Linwood Andrews, Santa Ana; four-cylinder roadster to Herbert Flynn, Fullerton; four-cylinder touring car to William Rodgers, Placentia; six-cylinder touring car to A. Instead of the track running over wheels, it operates on a floating roller chain and the drive is by sprocket. Parts which are subjected to stress and wear are chrome steel, heat treated. There are about 900 pounds of pressed steel on this machine and it is estimated that the use of pressed steel saves from 25 to 35 per cent in weight over the usual iron construc-tion. To give an idea of some of the accessibilty features, it may be stated that the entire radiator core may be removed by taking out two screws and undoing two hose connections. By use of the unit crank and transmission case a single oiling point suffices for lubrication of all working parts on the tractor. There are no oil cups and only one grease cup and this is located on the water pump shaft. The motor, a product of Rollin H. White, has four main bearings and develops 16 horse power on the pulley and 9 horse power on the draw bar. It is designed to burn kerosene or distillate. Its extreme simplicity, the elimination of adjustable parts, and the simple oiling system, make it essentially a farmer's machine. The county distributer, John L. Wheeler, 311 West Fifth street, Santa Ana, now has one of these machines in stock and reports a great deal of interest on the part of farmers in this new tractor.
