MISS VALLE PEMBER
HONORED WITH SHOWER
Miss Valle Pember was the honor guest at a surprise miscellaneous shower given by the Chat En Seau at the home of Misses Evelyn and Lillian Degryse. The members of the club met at the usual hour with the supposed intention of merely spending the evening at fancy work. Late in the evening Mrs. Edith Kemper and sister, Miss Esther Pember, entered by the rear of the house and were ushered into the bed room where they found a small basket decorated with fern filled with gifts. Miss Degryse asked them to take them in to their sister. On seeing the girls, Miss Valle Pember was surprised but when they gave the gifts to her, she was certainly surprised. After the showing of the many presents the hostesses served a dainty luncheon. The favors and napkins were carried out in the Thanksgiving style with a hot tamale supper being served.
Decorations used were roses and ferns. The guests were Miss Valle Pember, Mrs. Edith Kemper, Miss Esther Pember, Mrs. Ruth Ward, Mrs. Harriet Boyd, Mrs. Norbert Anderson, Mrs. Gus Prescott, Mrs. Frances Scott, and Miss Viola Elliott.

GRAND HIGH PRIEST
MAKES LODGE VISIT
Mattison B. Jones of Glendale, grand high priest of the Royal Arch Masons of the state of California, made his official visit to the local lodge last night. A 6:30 o'clock dinner was served to a large number of the Anaheim Royal Arch lodge, followed by the Royal Arch degree being conferred on candidates. After the business meeting of the evening Mr. Jones gave an address to the Royal Arch members in relation to the chapter work of the lodge. There was a number of outside visitors present from other cities.
The icebergs of the two hemispheres are entirely different in shape. The Arctic bergs are irregular in form, with lofty pinnacles and glittering domes, while the Antarctic ones are flat-topped and solid looking.
