EVERY cent you spend over the price of Calumet might as well be thrown away. You don't get a thing for it. You can't get greater leavening strength or greater purity than are offered in Calumet.
It is made in the world's largest, best equipped and most sanitary Baking Powder Factories.
Contains only such ingredients as have been officially endorsed by the U.S. Food Authorities.
CALUMET
BAKING POWDER
BEST OF TEST
MAKES MOST PALATABLE AND SWEETEST OF FOOD
No matter what you pay you can't secure as much in sound baking powder quality.
On the other hand—you can buy a cheaper baking powder—a little lower in price than Calumet—and much lower in merit. That's the worst kind of false economy.
Calumet never fails. Every baking is perfectly raised—sweet, even and tasty.
Used by millions of housewives and is the largest selling brand in the world.
A pound can of Calumet contains full 16 oz. Some baking powders come in 12 oz. cans instead of 16 oz. cans. Be sure you get a pound when you want it.

AUTO PARTY IS BAULY SHAKEN UP WHEN CAR TURNS-OVER
Mrs. Aleine Donne sustained a badly lacerated leg and severe bruises over her body last Thursday, when a car in which she was a passenger, overturned at the north end of Main street bridge.
Mrs. Doane was riding from Balboa to Los Angeles with her husband, Warren Doane, general manager of the Hal E. Roach motion picture company at Culver City, and H. H. Hobson, art director of the company. Hobson suffered a sprained left ankle, and it is believed that one bone is broken. Doane was severely bruised. The accident occurred when the car which Hobson was driving lowered one front wheel into a depression in the road. The car turned completely over twice and landed in a ditch.
All three members of the party were taken to the Community Hospital for an X-Ray examination.

WHO GOT GARDNER IS PUZZLE NOW FOR UNCLE SAM
CENTRALIA, Wash., June 23. — (United Press.)—The United States government is confronted with the problem of deciding, not "who killed Cock Robin" but "who captured Roy Gardner."
Mrs. Marian Newell, manager of the Hotel Oxford, where Gardner was captured, claims the reward because she voiced her suspicions and called in the officers. Officer Louis Sonny claims the reward because he made the arrest.
There is a feeling here that the decision should be left to Gardner himself.
OWL JURY REPORT SENT TO HARDING
WASHINGTON, June 24. (United Press.)—The "Owl Jury," appointed by "Judge" Harding, is getting briefs from all over the country. The briefs are being filed with the American Forestry Association and are all under consideration by the members of the John Burroughs Club, which called upon President Harding recently and told him how the club had observed forest protection week.
The question of wild life protection came up and the President asked the youngsters what they would do with the birds such as owls which are found on the White House grounds, that prey upon some other birds. They had no answer ready for this so the President appointed the children a jury to make an investigation and report back to him.
One letter from a child in Wilmington, Del., received by the American Forestry Association, said:
"Wilmington, Del.
"From Dora De Ascanis To President Harding:
"I am very sorrow to let you know that owls are very very bad luck and that they bring bad luck where ever they go so send them away soon as you can. Best love from Dora."

CONGRESSWOMAN SAYS MOUTHFUL
WASHINGTON, June 23. (United Press.)—A woman who has every opportunity to talk and does not believe in doing it has been found. She is Miss Alice Robertson, congresswoman from Oklahoma. Miss Robertson says that she proposes to talk as little as possible in congress and urged other members to cut out unnecessary words as a means of reducing the expense of publishing the congressional record.
"I am not going to talk very much for silence is truly golden now," said Miss Robertson. "I realize that every extra word we speak, in congress means that much more expense to the United States government. Some of us in congress might begin—as I shall begin right now—to same money by stopping useless talking."
