BIG RECEPTION AT GEISSINGER HOME The garden party and open house given by Rev. and Mrs. James Allen Geissinger and family last night at the Methodist parsonage was one of the interesting events of this season. Lights of many colors were hung over the lawn and on the porch. The interior of the home was artistically decorated with a profusion of red roses, Shasta daisies and Easter lilies. The fore part of the evening was quickly passed in getting acquainted with with music furnished by Wade Westlake, violin, Reta Coate, saxaphone, and Mrs. McCullah at the piano. The first number was a stunt played by six of the Epworth League boys dressed as dashing young vamps of the polond and brunette types. They acted and sang in coquetish fashion about that "Nice Young Man Named Allen." This was followed by five members of the Woman's Home Missionary society dressed as kiddies, telling how they were going to act and what they intended to be when they grow up. This was followed by the Men's Bible class of the Sunday school giving representation of a country school with O. E. Steward as teacher. Miss Luna Wellman gave the guests the surprise of the evening. They were looking for a piano solo, but were treated to the old time melodies in medley form with modern harmony. Miss Wellman was assisted by Miss Carrie Lou Evans. Her encore number was the "carnival story" in instrumental form. The evening's entertainment finished with a grand finale of songs by the glee club with Mrs. McCullah as director. Speeches followed and an invitation to all members to visit the parsonage. The young ladies of the Standard Bearers had charge of the refreshments which followed. ORCHESTRA AT HIGH SCHOOL MONDAY Professor Walberg, director of the Orange County Symphony Orchestra, will present his organization at the high school Monday evening, at 8 o'clock. A varied program of popular and opera numbers will be rendered. Tickets now at the Danz Music Company or from members of the Methodist choral society. This is the first season for this orchestra and they are doing exceptionally good work. MONTE CARLO CLUB GUESTS Mrs. J. A. Clayes was hostess yesterday afternoon to the Monte Carlo. KATELLA SCHOOL CELEBRATES GRADUATION The graduation exercises of the eight grade of the Katella school was held last night in the grammar school auditorium. A large attendance was present to hear the excellent program. This is the largest class that has ever graduated from the school. The following program was given: America, by audience. Song by girls of class, "Spring Comes Tripping Fast," "A Night in June." Presentation of the class by the principal, Mrs. Stella Valle. Address, J. A. Clayes, principal of the high school, "Evolution of High School Course." Song, "Perfect Day," by class. Reading of the class will, Helen Snow. Song, "Tomorrow," clips. Class prophecy, read by Waldo Wilburn and Louis Ebbert. Class song. Presentation of diplomas, Mr. Mitchell of Santa Ana, county superintendent. The class members are Ruth Baumgartel, Katherine Carner, Helen Ebbert, Louis Ebbert, Pearl Fay, Lydia Graulner, Roberta Fay Cook, Hans Madeleener, Buelah Rutledge, Helen Snow, Eva Willburn, Waldo Wilburn. Congratulations were then in order for the students and a social hour was enjoyed during the balance of the evening. REV. MESSIAS GIVEN BIRTHDAY SURPRISE Rev. G. R. Messias was given a very delightful surprise last night at the rectory when the members of vestry, choir and guilds and their friends, husbands and wives went to his home in honor of his birthday anniversary. The surprise was complete in that the rector and to calm himself in order to thank the friends for the gift of a purse. A happy evening was passed with reminiscence, games and singing of old fashioned songs, and the folk songs of the native lands of the guests. Refreshments prepared by the ladies of the group were served. There were fifty members of the organization present to wish Rev. Messias many happy birthdays. REBEKAH LODGE HOLDS ELECTION The Rebekah lodge held its election of officers last night with the following result: Mrs. Gladys Liewellyn, noble grand; Mrs. Ardis Chambers, vice grand; Elizabeth Mang, recording secretary; Mrs. Elsie Borth, financial secretary; Mrs. Nellie Terry, treasurer; Mrs. Pearl Fergus, trustee. After election the retiring noble grand was presented with the silver loving cup for the largest attendance of the lodges at the orange show. Mrs. Liewellyn received it for the lodge.
