BOXING MATCHES IN ANAHEIM BROUGHT LARGE GROWD
A large crowd, the largest that has ever appeared at a boxing and wrestling exhibition in Anaheim, gathered at the arena on Sparka' ranch last night and saw some classy boxing and wrestling.
The two main events were all the fans expected in the exhibition of boxing and wrestling.
Ray Neal of San Diego outclassed Hasel Schmidt of Fullerton in the main boxing event and scored a knockout in the second round. The match was all Neal's from the beginning. While Schmidt was clearly outclassed, weighting in at 163, the same as Neal, there were many present who declared they had seen Schmidt when he put up a better showing than last night.
The main event in the wrestling class, or rather the one that was expected to be full of thrills, proved to be a turn-about. Turk Lajini of Los Angeles, a wrestler of wide experience, attempted to throw Strangler Louis Nelson in 20 minutes. He failed, and what is more, Nelson was the aggressor most of the twenty minute period.
The surprise of the evening came when Al Sparks threw Barney Barnhardt of Los Angeles in nine minutes with a scissors and half Nelson. Sparkes is showing great progress under the instruction of Strangler Louis Nelson, and when he flopped Barnhardt last night, great cheers greeted his victory over a wrestler whose career has been a long line of victories. Immediately after Sparks threw him, Barnhardt addressed the crowd and declared that he was as much surprised as anyone in the audience at the ability shown by Sparks.

MAKING MONEY WITH OUT PERMISSION OF UNCLE SAM
SEATTLE, Wash., June 4.—Uncle Sam by and large is a mighty easy going old fellow. There is one taing, however, that he is mighty particular about, and that is that nobody starts playing tricks with his money. Day and night, year in year out, the hunt by secret service men goes on for men who think they have a scheme to make bills or coins "so that you can't tell the difference." Uncle Sam will spend any amount of money, perhaps a good deal more than the counterfeiter would have passed, and will stay on the job any number of years in order to catch and put behind the bars a man who wants to start up as a competitor to the mint.
Hugh C. Hamilton, 34, an ex-convict, is being held here on a charge of counterfeiting. Two glass negatives for printing $5 federal reserve notes were found in his possession. He claimed they were given to him by a lifer in the state penitentiary. W. L. Butts, 30, was arrested at the same time, and will be held as a witness. Butts, it is said, had been purchasing photographic supplies for Hamilton. In addition to the glass plates, five film negatives of $5 reserve notes were found together with bleaching material, developer, and silk threads for use in imitating bank note paper.
Hamilton claims to have brought the plates from prison in the false bottom of a small box he carried.
How did the secret service agents discover and arrest Hamilton before he got fairly started on a counterfeiting career? The operatives only smile and keep "mum." Uncle Sam has spent a lot of time and a lot of money studying and keeping track of counterfeiters and their methods, so you can't expect him to tell how he did it when he makes use of his
under the instruction of Strangler Louis Nelson, and when he flopped Barnhardt last night, great cheers greeted his victory over a wrestler whose career has been a long line of victories. Immediately after Sparks threw him, Barnhardt addressed the crowd and declared that he was as much surprised as anyone in the audience at the ability shown by Sparks.
In the boxing bout between Young Crespine of Anaheim and Kid Frederick of Delhi, the latter clearly outclassed Crespine and after the first round, the referee would let the bout proceed no longer.
A like result came in the bout between Kid Ross of Anaheim and Kid Leo of Santa Ana. Leo forced Ross out in the first round.
Another boxing and wrestling bill is being arranged for next Friday night at the same place. Announcement of the contestants will be made Monday, according to Louis Nelson.
It is just as easy to hold a woman's baby to suit her as it is to put a man's hat on to suit him.
