MY DEAR: At last we're off. Yes, we're leaving at dawn tomorrow. If it had not been for the characteristic courtesies for which the Anaheim merchants are famed, I should never have been able to satisfactorily complete my arrangements in time for the Day of Days. You know, the merchants of Anaheim seem to take a personal interest in providing the very best in convenience and comfort for their patrons. Really, they are the very embodiment of that greater friendship, the friendship of business. You need never worry, no matter what your desire may be, if it's up-to-date and progressive, the Anaheim merchants are sure to have it. I cannot remember anything that I have enjoyed so much as the preparatory weeks spent in the shops of Anaheim, when I learned to fully appreciate the value of their motto—
"BUY IN ANAHEIM"
FOR THE WOMAN of discernment, the special sale at The Prince Store this week is an exceptional opportunity. Any one of their attractive dresses, dresses designed in accordance with the very latest style dictates, may be bought for only $25.00! Worthy of more than passing interest, too, are the sport togs with their marked individuality, being offered now at The Prince Store. A jaunty velour jacket of bright color, combined with the soft youthful lines of one of their new silk or flannel sport skirts, is charming in its very simplicity. A dainty organdie frock selected from the very complete stocks of The Prince Store, is just the thing for the informal summer dancing party. A lovely silk sweater with its trimness of fit is never amiss in a summer wardrobe, being suitable for a matinee or for sport wear.
AN ENCHANTING HAT of white Milan straw is being shown this week at Cable's Millinery, 121 South Los Angeles street. Alluringly lovely is the facing of lavender, the very last word for summer. It's only trimming is a large sauce bow coquetishly tied right in front which forms a striking contrast with the snowy whiteness of the straw. Cable's hats, as well long almost impossible to buy—and in all the newest, bright colors, tool Their counters and shelves are also resplendent with ginghams in the quaint colored prints and the latest in figured volles. Sport skirts are an accomplishment, particularly if they are fashioned from the creamy flannels, woolens, or serges that are now being exhibited to such great advantage at the S. Q. R. Store. It is the women who demand standard value merchandise that are in a position to appreciate the varied virtues and the splendid merits of the products which the S. Q. R. Store has so faithfully upheld for fourteen years.
FRILLY AND FRIVOLOUS are the airy summer frocks which Mrs. Roberts of 313 East Broadway is making for Mary-Jo this week. The smartly dressed women of Anaheim know that Mrs. Roberts is an authority on style and individuality in dress. Mrs. Roberts seems to possess the secret of original creations, modeled along graceful and becoming lines. To have Mrs. Roberts make you a gown is to see your own personality reflected.
EXPERT HANDIWORK of delicate beauty is strongly in demand. When Katherine E., Giss of North Lemon street fashions you a fetching collar and cuff set of sheerest organdie, you are sure of a clever design as well as an original model. Mrs. Giss' hemstitching quickly transforms the plainest of dresses into a pert and billowy sunshine frock of spring witchery.
AN INSPIRATION for a gift, you will always find at the Woman's Exchange, 124 East Center street. In her charming baby room Mrs. Hartley has gathered everything imaginable to make life happy for the little new arrival. Beautiful hand embroidered bed-spreads and pillow cases and stamped dressed scarfs and luncheon sets to be embroidered may also be found in profusion.

THERE IS AN UNMISTAKABLE air of smartness about the trim little satin strap dancing slippers at Joe Lautenbach's, corner of Lemon and Center streets. Really one's dancing costume is not complete without them. Another thing, Lautenbach's footgear retains its original good looks after months of wear. Whether they be sturdy mountain boots, the new sport oxfordes of athletic cut or the distinctive walking shoes, there is a certainty that shoes bought from Lautenbach's are perfect fits. Joe Lautenbach also does expert repairing and although his workmanship is the best, his prices are most reasonable.
THE ATTRIBUTES of graceful carriage belong only to the well dressed woman. Worn 'neath a dainty organdie or georgette dress, the very attractiveness of a lovely camisole adds that desired air of grace and refinement. Mrs. Taylor is selling a number of the exquisite camisoles for which the Anaheim Corset Company is noted, at the remarkable price of only $2.98!

ANOTHER OF JEAN'S WEDDING gifts was a Hobart M. Cable player piano from Hammel's Music Store at 124 East Center street. Could there be any more appropriate bridal gift than music—the very essence of harmony? I don't think there could. She was also given her selection of several dozen player rolls from Mr. Hammel's very generous stock. Did you know Mr. Hammel will arrange terms to suit you on any player you may wish to purchase?
YESTERDAY when passing Gates, the Florist, on Illinois street, I stopped in to see the ferns which Mr. Gates is intending to exhibit at the California Valencia Orange Show on May 17 in Anaheim. I can truthfully say that I have never before seen such perfect specimens of maiden hair fern as those in which Mr. Gates specializes.
I COULD PRACTICALLY LIVE on that new cactus candy, the confection of the Aztecs, which is to be found only at Cherry Blossom Inn! On a long and dusty automobile trip you will find San Xavier Crystalized Cactus candy a real treat, always cool and refreshing. We have bought several pounds of this most deliciously pure and harmless candy made from the pulp and juice of the cactus.

I AM SIMPLY LOST without my watch. Last week I dropped and broke it, so I sent Billy-John right down, post-haste, to Dutton's Jewelry company on East Center street, as they do expert watch repairing. It was hardly any time before Mr. Dutton had located the trouble and it was well on the road to recovery. Mr. Dutton's work spells efficiency in every way and you will find his prices are amazingly reasonable.

AN AUTHORITY on dandruff and falling hair is Mme. Virgil at Milady's Beauty Shop, 216 West Center street. I always have her marcel my hair as she gives an electrical scalp treatment first. You know then there is absolutely no danger of its being harmful, and besides, my experience has been that the wave stays much longer and is more satisfactory after one of Mme. Virgil's treatments.
JACKSON'S MEN'S WEAR SHOP at 130 West Center street is a prime favorite with all the boys. Billy-John paid them a hasty visit yesterday and the result is a new red bathing suit and a bathrobe more subdued in color to wear over it. He also bought me a fifty new suitcase of black leather with a travelling bag to match at Jackson's.
GEORGE IS FOND of ocean fishing, isn't he? Our boys are all planning to spend quite a little time at one of the beaches enjoying the surf fishing. You know, of course, don't you, that it is necessary to have a special line of extraordinary length and a particular kind of bait? I don't profess to know the first thing about fishing, although its wonderful sport and I really enjoy it. Mr. Wisser, of Wisser's Sporting Goods Store, 171 West Center street, however, can tell you anything you may wish to know about the various kinds of fishing and give you just the right line and bait for it. There isn't any popular sport that isn't represented at Wisser's from baseball to hunting.

MY DEAR, THEY ARE WONDERful! Why the steel jacketed indestructible Therm-A-Jug of course! You should never be without one. They are only $10. Imagine being able to carry a gallon of hot food such as veal friscaease, baked beans, or any delicious entree, and knowing that when you are ready to serve it, it will be steaming hot as when placed in the jug. On warm days you will find your Therm-A-Jug with sherbert or ice cream, iced coffee, iced tea or perhaps a cold salad and it will retain exactly the same temperature. It boasts of an ingenious cork-within-a-cork. Liquids may be poured without the slightest danger of spilling. A Therm-A-Jug is absolutely sanitary and may be as thoroughly and easily washed as any kitchen utensil. R. B. Ingram, 114 South Lemon street, is the exclusive dealer.
WHY NOT have the seats of your car covered with a good looking cloth? It protects and saves the leather and upholstering, really genuine economy. Earl Farris of 236 South Los Angeles street will make them in gray, tan or any desired color. It takes Mr. Farris only a short while to make these covers to completely cover all the seats, and your car's appearance is increased just one hundred fold.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? The Anaheim Vulcanizing Works has just been appointed local agents for the well known Brunswick tires. Although the guarantee is unusually high, it is often that they have tires double it. When a person once uses Brunswick tires they always return for more. Furthermore, the success of the Anaheim Vulcanizing Works is assured. It is a growing concern. Behind it lies just one reason—satisfied customers! People have come to know that the Anaheim Vulcanizing Works sells only the best, therefore, anything they back must be good. They have a reputation for always selling at the manh is to buy not only service but honest-to-goodness personal attention.

With the possibility of any trouble so remote in a car of road endurance, we are all delighted with our new Studebaker. In buying our car Billy-John and I decided that we were making an investment—not only for weeks or months, but for years and we wished to select a car that is dependable; with flexibility power and riding qualities, plus simplicity of control. An unusual combination you say? Yes, but we found all that and more too in the new Studebaker Light Six at Harry S Riley's. After once riding in it you will better understand the meaning of Studebaker satisfaction.
DO LET The Auto Electric Maintenance Company put your batteries in order for the trip. Their splendidly equipped shop is at Los Angeles and Chestnut streets. They are experts in their line and thoroughly familiar with automobile batteries and the electric system of a car. It is a most impossible to secure the service of a competent auto electrician or transit, but if the Auto Electric Maintenance Company has gone over your car you needn't worry. If they have pronounced it O.K. it is.
BEING UNABLE TO DIVORCE Billy-John from the old-fashioned campfire, I was certainly relieved to find that the Xchange Furniture Company of East Center street has a dandy sheet metal camp stove. This camp stove made of durable material may be folded flat and put away under the seat. When opened it stands on legs over the campfire and has an adjustable chimney, quite as remarkable. To provide all the comfort of home, a hole permitting of a pot directly over the blaze has been made for "hurry-up" cooking. The price is most reasonable—like everything else at the Xchange Furniture Company as quality and service is their motto.

AN ARTIST when it comes to automobile painting—that's J. P. Probst, 115 West Adele street. When selecting some one to paint your car you should ask whether he possesses that inborn artistic instinct that can only be developed by practical experience; whether he realizes the importance of time and can rush an order through and still give the proper satisfaction; whether his experience has been such that he can produce good prevailing color schemes so essential in automobile painting; whether he is sincere and able to give full "value received." We have found that J. P. Probst "rings true" on all these questions.

WE HAVE HAD OUR CAR equipped with Edison Mazda lamps from the Anaheim Electric Company, 209 West Center street. IN YOUR RECENT LETTER you wanted to know how I am going to do my shopping on Monday and Tuesday of May 16th and 17th, and also attend the California Valencia Orange Show without interfering with my washing. Very simple, indeed. All I have to do on Monday morning or any other morning in the week is to take ten minutes of my time to gather up my laundry and then call 18, the Anaheim Laundry Company, and ask them to call for my laundry and they will do the rest. This method has been recommended to me by Miss Los Angeles some time ago. Ever since I do not bother with washing at home. I hope you will not be interfered with with your washing and sewing these days, and meet me at the California Valencia Orange Show with a smile.
Sincerely, your friend,
MISS VALENCIA.
OF COURSE Kitchen's Market is maintaining their reputation of "everything good to eat." We have ordered our "camping commissary department" from Kitchen's. They were kind enough to pack the various cans in handy boxes all tabeled and ready for our use. It is such a pleasure to buy from Kitchen's, the house of thoughtful courtesy. They are always ready with helpful suggestions of something new for sandwiches or salads and their supply of fresh vegetables is always unlimited. They are
now featuring the new Sungold flour, made strictly of the heart of the golden Kansas wheat. Once having tried it, I know you would never use any other, and you will be amazed at the price—it is so very much less than other flours of its high standing.
IT IS A PLEASURE to buy one's meats from Stroup's Market on North Los Angeles street, as everything is kept so spotlessly clean—just spic and span all the time, that one is sure of absolutely fresh and clean meats. You know Stroup's have their own ice machine and cooling system with continually iced pipes running through the cases. Anaheim may well be congratulated on having so up-to-date, progressive and efficient market as Stroup's. They invite public inspection.

SURPRISE HERE

The reduction of price on the Oakland marks the first medium priced car reduction. Speaking of the Oakland 1921 models Mr. C. C. Jones said today that the present Oakland car is considerably larger and has a much sturdier frame than the pre-war model. This, Mr. Jones said, is one of the reasons for surprise at the reduction in price.
ROOMS NEEDED FOR VISITORS TO SHOW
Have you a spare room in your home where someone can find repose during the California Valencia Orange show which opens next Tuesday and closes the following Sunday night?
If so, call J. H. Whitaker, phone 539, chairman of the Information committee of the show.
Some time ago Mr. Whitaker issued a call for rooms and was successful in getting a large number, but demands are still coming in for rooms, and more must be secured to take care of the large number of people who will spend the week in Anaheim.
Telephone Mr. Whitaker at once and give him as many rooms as you can spare to list for rent during the show.
It seems strange that some Battle Creek institution doesn't produce a powdered form of instant hootch.
