Fishing jobs, mechanical troubles and hard digging prolonged the drilling of this well into two years. Soon after Chapman No. 1, the gusher well that opened the field, was completed the Union spudded in and started drilling Chapman No. 2. An experiment was made with extra heavy standard tools, the idea that the big tools would pulverize the conglomerate and hole would be made rapidly. Several months were lost and little progress was made. Putting the rotary back the well was drilled to 4100 feet, and is now ready to produce. On account of the small amount of real oil sand found, Chapman No. 2 is not expected to be a very big well, probably will not go over 200 barrels. Chapman No. 2 came in a few days ago, a 125 barrel well. Thompson-Goodwin No. 2 is in the oil sand at 3200. Towell No. 4 is drilling at 2850. Macfadden No. 2 is in the oil sand at 3225. On the Morse property No. 5 is drilling at 3175 in the shale and shell. Coyle & Bogue No. 1 is nearing completion, being in the oil sand at 4032. Coyle Nos. 2 and 4 are drilling at 3057 and 2925. Stern No. 1 is in the oil sand at 3420 and Stern No. 2 is about to commence drilling. Y. L. G. No. 1 failed to amount to anything as a producer at 2975 and is being redrilled and deepened. The Standard Oil Company still maintains the lead taken several months ago in the deep drilling work. Its latest achievement is in the getting of Loftus-O'Bryan No. 1 to 4875, and Vejar No. 1 to 4800 feet. L. & O. No. 1 at the above depth is in hard sand and not showing very strong indications of oil. Vejar No. 1, another test well at 4800, is in hard sand also and is not showing much encouragement. On the Kraemer No. 2 property No. 16 is building rig, No. 15 is drilling at 1300 in aird sand, and No. 14 is 2100 in shale, No. 12 stands cemented at 3640. With only 45 feet more to drill the Wonder Oil Company will be ready to bring in its Kraemer No. 1 at 4350. Corbett is Carpentier and may cause dill camp. Nothing subdues fiery skin eruptions so quickly, says a noted skin specialist. The moment this sulphur preparation is applied the itching stops and after two or three applications, the eczema is gone and the skin is delightfully clear and smooth. Sulphur is so precious as a skin remedy because it destroys the parasites that cause the burning, itching or disfigurement. Mentho-Sulphur always heals eczema right up. The well has been showing up very nicely and Superintendent Kraft is confident that his company will be repaid for their efforts. Great credit is due Contractor Keck for the workman like manner in which the well was drilled, and also the good time made. A location has been staked for well No. 2. Drilling in the Bixby Hills' district has been going on very quietly during the past week, there being no developments to cause any particular excitement. The Bixby Ranch Syndicate well has passed 3700 feet without striking any oil indications. The Long Beach Consolidated Oil Company is making hole in the shale at 2700 feet. At the National Exploration Company's Chino well casing trouble is holding the well up at 1300 feet. However, good time is being made on the Olinda well, drilling is now at 1950 in the shale. The National Security Company shows 1600 feet of hole and the New York-California is drilling at 500, little hole being made on account of waiting on asing. The Orange County Petroleum Company reports 1300 feet in the blue shale. Considerable progress and new activity characterized the week's development in the Whittier field. The Southern California Oil Company deserves particular mention in that it is making new hole at 1345. The champion and the challenger will be allowed to decide upon the third man in the ring from a list of six prominent ring figures listed in the original agreement. James J. Corbett, James Jeffries, James Dougherty, Robert Edgren, Otto Floto and Bill Brown comprise the list of candidates. Recently it has been reported that this list is not binding and that Jim Coffroth might be named. The choice of the principals is subject to the approval of Tex Rickard, promoter of the bout. While Rickard has not opened his mouth on the question, it is understood that he favors Corbett. The former heavyweight champion is a very popular man, has a big name in the sport and his presence in the ring would be a step further in Rickard's plan to make the show the greatest in history. Corbett is high in the esteem of Carpentier and Descamps but they may cause disfavor in the Dempsey camp. The same may be said of Bob Edgren, former Sport editor of the New York Evening World, who is a personal friend of the champion, which may cause him to be opposed in the French fold. Bill Brennan perhaps is the least YORBA LINDA NEWS The Masons and wives and their friends enjoyed a social time in the Ley hall Wednesday night. The time was passed with Professor Harrel putting on the moving picture, Charles Ray in the "Pinch Hitter," which was followed by a social hour with delicious refreshments being served by the committee in charge. Dancing and cards were then enjoyed until the wee small hours. Delegations from Anaheim, Garden Grove, Fullerton and Olinda were present. It is hoped that all of the ladies who are members of the Ladies' Club will be present at the coming meeting date. Important business will be attended to and a collection of jams and jellies for the soldiers at San Diego will be taken. Everett Moore is now employed at the Forbes grocery and is well satisfied with the work and the town. Mrs. Walter Smith is visiting with her parents at Pomona for a few days. Mr. Smith accompanied her and returned home on account of business. Walter Cheasley and Chuck Watkins, both oil drillers at Yorba Linda, suffered injuries this week while at work. Mr. Cheasley is at home with an arm out of joint and Mr. Watkins' injury has not yet been learned. Mr. Cox of the restaurant made a business trip to Los Angeles this week. Mr. and Mrs. James Glover were visitors with friends in Long Beach the first part of the week. The Yorba Linda postoffice has now changed hands and Mr. West with Mrs. Harris as assistant will be in charge in the future. Lake View boulevard is busy building. SMALL CHANGE IS INSIGNIFICANT IN U. S. CO WASHINGTON, May 6.—"Small change" in use in the United States now amounts to $262,667,806, according to an official statement of treasury department, or $2.43 for each resident. This sum represents total of all the pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and half dollars which are being carried around in pocket books, in breeches pocket and which are kept on hand by stores and banks to make change. The treasury statement supplies answer to the oft repeated speculation as to how much one's fortune would be were he suddenly to become possessed of all the coins in the country under the value of one dollar. Exclusive of $78,000,000 worth of silver dollars in circulation, which are included in the small change total, nation's entire stock of silver and per coins could be packed in a box feet deep and 60 feet square and livered in your front yard any morning, along with the morning per and the bottle of milk. The tire sum would not a large forth as fortunes now are rated in United States. The small change total is a competitively insignificant sum; if there taken into consideration the amount of money in circulation in United States. This totals $6,500,689, of which $4,763,479,499 isken money. Token money me gold and silver certificates, treasures notes and notes issued through Corbett is high in the esteem of Carpentier and Descamps but they may cause disfavor in the Dempsey camp. The same may be said of Bob Edgren, former sport editor of the New York Evening World, who is a personal friend of the champion, which may cause him to be opposed in the French fold. Bill Brennan perhaps is the least known of the sextet out of New York. He is a prominent referee with long experience in the ring. He is reported to be Governor Miller's choice for the chair of the new state boxing commission: The other candidates are well known, but are not so prominent. "Any one of the officials suggested would be satisfactory to us," Jack Kearns, manager of the champion, said. Descamps attitude is not known, but Victor Breyer. Rickard's Paris agent, recently cabled here that Descamps had suggested to him it would not be a bad idea to have a Frenchman for one of the judges. Under the no-decision regulations which prevail in New Jersey much of the responsibility will be removed from the shoulders of the referee. Judgment in counting and accuracy of the eyes in detecting fouls will be the most important requisites. You may not be able to serve mankind in a big way, but you can make the world brighter by bragging about people when occasion offers. pipe to go ahead with drilling. No. 6 has been cemented at 2214, and No. 7, a new well, has started drilling. The Shell Company's Hart No. 1 is at 3925, drilling in hard sand, and not showing any oil. This well is passing into the doubtful class. The Bardeen Oil Company is now feeling confident of success. Drilling at 2170 the well is in sandy brown shale and is looking good. The Union Oil Company met with some complex pipe and mechanical trouble at Gregg No. 1 that may result in the abandonment of the well at 3645. This well at no time has shown any oil indications worth consideration. The Morris home is going up rapidly and Mr. Fassell is erecting another bungalow next door to the one just completed which has been leased for the year by A. J. Thees. Homer Smith and family of Whitier have moved into the new home Mr. Barton just built next to the friends church. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Burnison were the guests for two days of friends and relatives in Los Angeles. Mr. Haas, who was recently operated on at the Anaheim hospital, is doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fassell and children visited in Los Angeles one day this week. Donald Miller has returned from Huntington Beach and has bought the house next to Frank Brashear. He is busy improving the place and intends to make it one of the prettiest places in the country. Harry Rassmussen of Los Angeles is now taking the position as butcher at the Forbes grocery. Mr. Countryman, former butcher for Mr. Forbes, has returned to his home in Hollywood. Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Elvedahl, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Meyers and Leonard Nordskog of Los Angeles were recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Alexander. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hohen motored to Long Beach for two days' visit with friends the forepart of the week. Mr. and Mrs. G. Gudmondson, south of town, have returned from a week's vacation at Camp Baldy. Miss Anna Lavardson of Los Angeles, who looked after the home and children in their absence, has returned to her duties in Los Angeles. Joe Armstrong has resigned at the packing house and is going to Venice where he will open a concession. The small change total is a comparatively insignificant sum; if there taken into consideration the amount of money in circulation in United States. This totals $6,000,689, of which $4,763,479,499 isken money. Token money me gold and silver certificates, treasures and notes issued through federal reserve banks, all of which promises to pay issued by the agencies named. Were all the holders these promises to request immediate payment, the government and tellers probably would have to depend all other business for a month count the bills offered. Taken by volume; however, all money in the United States makes rather insignificant showing. It could all be gathered together in an office of 200 rooms or so. Building of six stories with a five-story and about-the-same depth would store all the token money while four men, one at each corner could easily guard it. POWER EXPERT IN COUNTY MONDAY (Farm Bureau Bulletin) Chairman S. E. Saunby of the public utilities commission of the Orange County Farm Bureau announces that the railroad commission will have an engineer in the farm bureau office, Santa Ana, Monday, May 9, 10 a.m., and after to advise with farmers who use power regarding the proper rate schedule they should operate under this year and also to investigate cases where it is stated that the Edison company required the consumers to purchase stock to cover the cost of extensions. It is very important the consumers and prospective consumers should be fully and correctly informed on these matters. In particular those who come to get advice regarding rate schedules should bring last year's bills to show the amount of power they use, together with the horsepower rating of their motor and a close estimate of the number of days per month that they operate, together with any other details which they think might be of value. Every power user in the county who has a special problem to submit is urged to meet the commission representative next Monday. He will also address the El Dodena Farm Center at El Modena school Monday evening. BUY IT IN ANAHEIM. CHANGE IS VISIONIFICANT IN U. S.
