Off production in the Richfield district is greater today by 2000 barrels than it was yesterday, the increase coming as the result of the the bringing in of Chapman No. 2 by the Union Off company late yesterday afternoon. The well had been drilling two years and had reached a depth of 4100 feet when "black gold" broke forth. It is one of deep wells of the district. Chapman No. 1 came in two years ago, a short time for No. 2 was "abudded in." At the time No. 1 was considered the greatest gusher in the state.
It is thought that about fifty of the Orange county naval reservists under the leadership of Lieutenant Ben Blee and Ensign P. C. Westgate will leave Sunday morning to join the party taking advantage of the eagle boat cruise to Catalina island. These week end cruises have been arranged for the benefit and pleasure of the reservists, and have proven very popular. Sunday's trip will be made on Eagle boats 12 and 34, and will start promptly at 9 o'clock from San Pedro harbor.
Blackeye beans as an Orange county crop in 1921 are destined to cut considerable figure. The production of 40,000 bags of 1920 will be raised to 125,000 or 150,000. This is the belief of Charles E. Morris, buyer for the California Packing corporation.
Mr. and Mrs. C. Weston, Lon Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. Mallory were guests at the Valencia while in Anaheim on the program at the Fairyland theatre.

Much publicity is being given to the growth, cause, and effect of this mysterious "Ism" termed Bolshevism, which, as we understand it, is a form of government composed of the very worst element of human society, a government that respects nothing sacred that represents our present day civilization.
We are informed through the press that this Bolshevism is growing in our industrial centers, and one form of it is represented in the statement of large numbers of tenants in Chicago, New York and other densely populated cities, that they will pay NO RENT to the alleged rapacious landlords of those cities until the various legislative bodies step in and compel the aforesaid landlords to accept a reasonable rent for their property.
Be this as it may, it is evident that great numbers of the tenants are far from satisfied with conditions relating to renting.
No doubt there are owners of property who are responsible for much of the dissatisfaction existing, but it would be unreasonable on the part of tenants to expect to rent property at pre-war figures, the cost of labor, materials, and operating or overhead expenses having increased 100 per cent in many instances.
It is evident that everyone who invests his money in any "legitimate enterprise" is entitled to a "reasonable profit" on his or her investment, but when an owner of property becomes a veritable Shylock when he has the people where he wants them, as it were, then he becomes a public enemy; a breeder of Bolshevism, a "legalized hold-up" and should be treated as such (by legal methods, of course).
To quote a case that caused me to write this protest, and which I may not have the full facts of.

OCEAN WAS TOO CHILLY GIRL DECIDES TO LIVE ON
LOS ANGELES, May 7. After a year in apparent hiding Nina Duryea may now acknowledge that she is still alive, for yesterday Justice Hanby, upon motion of Dep. Dist.Atty Hill, dismissed a charge of grand larceny against her.
The young woman was accused of stealing $5 in cash, a dress and a muff from Mrs. Hattie Eigholz, and about a year ago the case was set for hearing. The court, after waiting some time, received a note, saying that the defendant was going to end her life in the "cold, cold ocean." It was learned later that she had walked into the ocean with suicidal intent, but found the water too cold and decided to live. The complaining witness asked that the case be dismissed and the girl, through her attorney, also asked that action. After some consideration Justice Hanby compiled.
