Say Khrushchev Likes SF as Summit Site
LONDON (UPI) — Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, who is itching to visit the United States, would readily agree to San Francisco as the site of a summit meeting this year, Soviet diplomatic sources said today.
Moscow, which earlier this year virtually ruled out a summit conference in the United States, appears to have reversed its position.
Soviet diplomats let it be known with unconcealed enthusiasm that Russia would be ready to approve a San Francisco meeting with the leaders of the United States, Britain and France.
Russia prefers the California city to New York or Washington, and considers Vienna rather than Geneva as a possible alternative meeting place in Europe, the sources said.
The Russians regard July or early September as the most likely dates for the summit session.

PRECOcious 7-Year-Old
DENVER (UPI) — The Chinese should be very proud of 7-year-old Richard Wang. His teachers at East High School are. They say he is one of the best students they ever had.
Richard came to the U.S. two years ago. He couldn't speak a word of English then but now he is making straight A's in most of his subjects and rates in the upper five per cent of his class.
But Richard is more than a student. He has invented an electrical colorimeter which he displayed at the Metropolitan Area Science Fair in Denver recently. The instrument is used to measure the intensity of color to determine the density of a solution.
He also goes in for photography, chess and music "but definitely not rock 'n roll."
Richard's ambition is to attend Harvard University and enter the medical research field "to help mankind."
His father is a design engineer at the Martin Plant in Jefferson County and his mother is a biotherapist. He lives with them here but his brother, sister and grandparents are still in Recy China.

Money "Darned Good"
For some reason Bob has been dodging publicity about his new show, but I caught him working on the set, and he didn't appear to be up to his knees—much less his neck—in problems.
Smiling, he put down a cup of coffee and said, "I'm surprised to find that TV isn't as confining as pictures:
"I chose this series because I like the people who are making it. Dick Powell (chief of Four-Star Productions which is packaging the series) is a close friend, and the stories are top flight.
"Besides, the money is darned good."
Taylor, who would rather fish and hunt or fly his airplane than work, still "has it made."
"The shooting schedule is arranged so I'll be free for hunting and fishing seasons," he grinned. "Fortunately it's not the kind of show that requires me to be in every scene."

San Jose Co. Announces Quarterly Sales Report
Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation of San Jose today reported that company operations for the quarter ending March 31, 1959, provided substantial increases in sales volume and profits, compared with results for the corresponding quarter of 1958.
Sales for the first quarter of this year totaled $86,865,017, an increase of 24 per cent over the same period in 1958. Net earnings, which reflected an even greater increase, amounted to $4,372,234 or 34 per cent above earnings for the 1958 quarter.
This was equivalent to 62 cents per share against 46 cents a year ago, after adjustment of the latter South won the first heart with ace and led a low trump toward dummy. East captured dummy jack with the ace — an import stop in promoting a trump trunk for his partner.

Judge Upholds Portion of Suit
Judge Upholds Portion of Suit For Residents of Sunny Hills
SANTA ANA (OCNS) — Superior Court Judge John Shea has upheld eight Sunny Hills (Fullerton) families in a portion of their defense against a $337,500 damage suit filed against them by the Sunny Hills Development Enterprises Co.
The plaintiff claims it has been damaged by statements made about the company in an earlier lawsuit filed by the eight families against the real estates development firm.
Two weeks ago, attorneys for the eight families told the court that the plaintiff's allegations contained several ambiguous and invalid legal arguments. The Judge was asked to rule that these claims against the eight families could not be argued when the case goes to trial.
Yesterday afternoon Judge Shea upheld the defense in its argument that the plaintiff has not stated the specific words which allegedly damaged the plaintiff. Shea agreed that the material in the original lawsuit had been subjected to immunity from libel because it was introduced in a judicial proceeding. Further, the judge agreed that there was some ambiguousness to the complaint of the Sunny Hills Development Company's assertion that it had been damaged.
Sunny Hills now has 15 days in which to amend its complaint so that it will "have more teeth in it," as courthouse lawyers frequently state.
The original suit, by the eight families against the development company, ask that it be restrained from building apartment and commercial buildings in areas adjacent to single family residences.
