Young Nimrod Almost Shoots Airplane Down By Orange County News Service In this era of anti-aircraft missiles which can track an airplane and bring it down, a sheriff's department report today indicated teenage boys almost pulled the same stunt using a cave-man weapon, a bow and arrow. James L. Steimer, 25, a salesman for the Ross Aeronautics firm, was coming in for a landing on the Sunset Heights air strip when some objects struck his right wing. The pilot told sheriff's deputies if the arrow had struck the plane only two more feet to the right it may have caused a serious crash. The arrow was lodged near the landing flaps, it was disclosed. The plane was about 25 feet off the ground when the arrow struck. Two teenage boys were seen in the area at the sametime. The air strip is located in the coastal area near Sunset Beach. California Courts Set For Economy Probe SACRAMENTO (UPI)—The Assembly Ways and Means Committee has ordered an "impartial survey" of California's court system to determine if the judiciary is wasting the taxpayers' money. Assemblyman Lester McMillan (D-Los Angeles) suggested the probe after Ways and Means was called upon to approve bills adding 10 superior court judges in six counties. "The judiciary is becoming a sacred cow," McMillan said. "Nobody dares question judicial requests for more money or more judges. The committee voted to order Legislative Analyst A.
